  1. Which jetting did you go with? My 240 never did clean up with a 25mm dellorto,CT Oko made it run great, alot like the 2009 Sherco I took a quick spin on last weekend.

BTW,when I took apart the Dell on my 309(249cc) it turned out not to have a idle jet in it at all, just the idle emulsion tube, will just stick in the 44 idle jet that was in my 240 and see how she does, only other idle jet I've got is a 33,gonna start rich.

My 240 runs standard 98/44/60 jetting but raised the needle to 3rd notch. I run castrol 747 at 50/1,smells good. Will try and get a 26mm carb from a 300 series motor and try that.

  2. This is what is supposed to be done. The FIM simply failed to do their job. First they make it too hard then too easy. You would think that this was their first time putting on a Trial.

As for ties being broken by the fastest finisher, imagine a tie at the Brittish Open of Golf being decided by who walked the course fastest!

There is a great opportunity here for a dramatic sudden death play off. Great for TV and spectators.

There allready are ways of deciding a tie, it would benifit the guys on smaller bikes even capacity comes into play..

But we all try and either defend or put down the champs, but the fact is they are allready broken...makes no difference what i think, or any of the know-it-all keyboard jockys, its the riders that should get a say ALL THE RIDERS NOT JUST THE TOP ELITE, They have done the damage allready.

  3. Perhaps you need to attend more wtc events.

its a great spectacle, the skill of the riders is amazing and they are real trial riders. Dougie a trick rider? No way!!!

(ps it should be too not to in your signature surely?)

Cant Ride a bike or splel .

You are right about douggie, Thats why he isnt winning.

Never said it wasnt a great spectacle, ONCE . Even better when it was free to watch.

IMHO>My Own ,Its now a merry go round for the men in suits.

Got my copy of the third Twinshock books a few weeks ago and there is a picture of the then WORLD champion Ulf Karlson taking his works bike off the back rack on his mercedes car, that was real trials , massive entrys, massive crowds, really enjoyable trials won on a hand full of marks.

Lose 7 lose the trial ,same for everyone.

  4. Only seen the ones in the friday paper. and if i had a scanner i would send a copy of that but i havnt.

but i can say mr Wickett won the pre 65 hard rout

    C Moat=pre unit / S Hay=unit / twin shocks =Mr Baker then S Dommet, C Green, M McDonald, D Shave, T Beckley-Pett.

The real A rout (read girlie rout)

    P Carson. pre unit=R Trott . Unit= A Boreton. Twostroke= M Clarkson. First Class= D carson, M Braford, R haines, N Walker, M Fear.

TWINSHOCK!!!!! D wakeford, G Atkins(lucky ride), T Wall, M Hitchcott, ME (yes by some twist of fate)

    Overseas award=Osann Ortwin (Team Germany)

PS Rode the hard rout last year ,Thats why we were all on the Gentlefolk rout this time around.

  5. Typical i have bought one now!!!!

Runs a dream, it looks like the fuel valve and float height were the prob on the old one , but the 25 seems to make the littleun run smoother with cleaner bottom end.

  6. No one rides the wtc ???

I would be well into the top 20 on a c50 because less than 20 ride ??????? ace world champs that, Leave it alone, make it harder , make it easy.

It is just a showcase for the trick riders, not real trials at all.

  7. I have no results through yet Lee,i must of forgot to put my self addressed envelope in with the regs aswell,i will call Bill to see if he will post to me.

Dont worry steve you arnt in them......well nowhere near the top anyway.

Best do the girlie rout like us crippled old guys ;)

  8. Just a word of warning, got a pair of askew trials boots less than a year ago and all the sticking has dissintergrated, and sone of the thin leather has torn, they are pretty much useless.

It may be an isolated case but the old saying goes you get what you pay for.

  9. Fame at last!

See what I mean you can dab all day in that coat and go clean, seriously though it does keep you warm and dry (important on exmoor).

It was a fantastic weekend ,again, and it was good to see even more germans, dont bring to many though, they are starting to get into the awards..

    Cheers Dixie.

  10. Lee you will probably answer this .

I have a 200 that over fuels on low revs but it has a 28mm dellorto carb, think standard is 25mm? what should I fit ???

my 240 is running a 28mm also, it runs fine but a very knowledgable friend informed me the 26mm would improve it even more ????thought/set up

    thanks in advance.Dixie

  11. Help!!!

I know there are lots of different oppinions!!!!! But to be eligable for the scottish 2 day do the bottom frame tubes still have to be fitted?????????

I know some clubs want rear frame loops and stuff but are the bottom tubes required???????

  12. Gday, the engines are relatively unstressed in the 4RT compared to their "brothers" in the CRF. I have rebuilt quite a few of those... Regular Oil changes and other maintenance seems to be a key factor, just like with any bike. It will definately pay to check and measure the gudgeon pin as that is a weak area in that motor. I think the CRF's were meant to be replaced every 15 hours or so in the earlier bikes but this would be overkill on a trials bike as the revs are nowhere near as high and sustained.

    Cheers,

    Stork

also the MX motors eat vaves,it seems to be totally on hours run and not how hard they are used ,but as youy say the trials derivative is under stressed .

  13. I think this post has been very interesting in the whole and I wouldn't want to see it closed either but the name calling and baiting should be cut back.

Interestingly I'd mark Dixie on a three so far a few others on one or two but no one has stopped yet so even in this very tough section no fives. Must be a well laid out post.

Nice one bigfoot but put me down for a five ,its to hard for me all this cheating modern stuff, i am off to the pub

  14. My point john is now and was at the time of posting in my humble opinion the spin off of the international rueling could and should benifit grass roots sport........

It appears lots of people differ in there opinion but at no point did i start telling others they could not comment because they where not quallified to, thats what you did......

I never have doupted you best intentions or commitment too work,But in my opinion part of the problems we are seeing at all levels is rules for rules sake and the merry go round continues, stop no stop minders no minders, you (not you personally) seem to think things can only survive as a money making businuess,Is that really the point, massif teams with huge budgets, blow the little people..

Well as a little person I (that means me no one else)think things were better when people got together an shared a good days sport,Motorcyclists in general are there own worst enemy, allways tring to sub devide and break off into smaller groups, and love to wind each other up,but there is no reason to be rude ,wind up yes but personal slurs arnt good.

My point is let everone have an opinion argue your side ,pick fault with others opinion ,thats what debate is all about but dont presume we are all wasters ,or dont ride.

    Dixie

  15. I may just jinx them now ,but i dont thunk i have heard of any engine problems with the 4 rt

sounds promising though,i have checked my valves a couple of times and they have never needed any adjustment (06 model)

  16. Could anyone tell me if a 125 beta rev 3 would be any good for a first bike? or would i be better getting a 250? iv been offered a 125 at a good price, but im wondering wether to save a bit more and go for a 250.
a 125 will help teach you what you need to know ,if it is the right price that is a good a reason as any, lots of people get hung up on engine size, a 125 in th eright hands will go anywhere ,good luck and tell us how you get on .
  17. Dear john. (sounds ominous)

I feel i may have found what could be a problem with our governing body, are you loosing touch with the ordinary motorcycle enthusiast????

I tried to PM you on this subject but your in box was full,so i will shorten and take some details out of my origional note.

You seem to equate time riding a motorcycle with the right to an oppinion,I for one would disscount no one from an oppinion.

I do not like the been there done that style of debate but feel in this instance i must lower myself to that level , on anoter post ,that is in danger of being censored ,you stated you suspect i ride less than your good self, how this affects my right to an oppinion is beond me ,but here goes

I started riding in 1970 did my first trial in 78 ish, first scramble (MX for the young ones) in 80 ish, passed my road test in 80, first enduro in 82 ,i continued to ride untill a knee injury in 86, after a break i returned to trials in 93 but had continued to trail ride all the way through, in the foot and mouth crisis i was envolved in a serious road bike crash ,a car decided to do a u turn in my path, wich resulted in a broken back, after lots of help from good freinds i returned to trials ,again in 2008 i was hit off on a roundabout by a car that didnt see me , this time it was a double fractur disslocation that almost cost me my foot, but again i have returned by riding twinshock and classic trials for a few months now i am on my modern bike again, while injured i have taken my turn observing ,i have also helped mark out trials .

I am a member of MAG, ACU ,AMCA ,HOG ,VMCC. i have done in excess of 1000 organised events and ridden more than HALF A MILLION motorcycle miles, but never claimed to be anything more than an average clubman rider.I have owned more than 70 motorcycles covering every type from scooter to custom, never passed my car test and dont own a car, Now if in you oppinion that dosnt quallify me as a motorcyclist with an oppinion then i dont know what does ,and if like you say i ride less than you where do you get the time..

Keep up the good work and i mean that ,just because i dont agree with some of your policys or oppinions does not make me you enemy and iwould never personally attack you credentials ,so please dont doupt my enthusiasum for motorcycling,

    Yours Dixie
