Here in the south of England, you don't see many old/real Montesas at Classic trial competitions. Some Bultacos and Ossas at every meet, but very few Montesas, despite them being quite common back in the day. I wonder why? Engines difficult to work on?
Just wondering which bits are supposed to be original? The more I look, the more I see different. Tank, seat, front wheel, hub, forks - the list is endless. Should have kept it original and not messed about with it.

To start with I would check the level of the brake fluid! If ok then fit a new set of Galfer brake pads and clean the brake disk with some brake cleaner. Spray the cleaner on a rag, then rub it on both sides of the disk. (Don't spray it directly on the disk as you will likely wash the grease out of your wheel bearings). If this still doesn't improve matters, then replace the brake fluid. If still no luck, then get a brake seal service kit. If you are still not happy then replace as stated in the above post. I had a (new) 2014 Evo and the brakes were fine.
Don't be afraid to mess about and experiment with it. It is the best way to learn. Take photos and measurements before you start, then if it goes wrong, or is worse, then you can just put it back to where it was beforehand.
First, fill the fuel tank up completely, then try. If not, then there is a hole somewhere in the fuel supply/vent pipe, which is about two feet long. Depending on where the hole is, it will either suck air or leak fuel. Replace. Or, there is a hole in the pipe coming from the crank case, which pulses the fuel pump.
I have been unable to find the torque numbers for the cylinder base nuts or the mag flywheel nut in any of the manuals I have. Anyone have these at hand?

Why can I no longer see the Places to Ride sub-forum? I can't even get to see if there are any replies to my own posts on there which I wrote a couple of weeks ago.
Places to ride are becoming hard to find. When I was a boy we used to go down the local woods on a Bantam or C15. You would get told to bug**r off by the farmer, but nothing would happen! It's a totally different situation today. As you know, Fry's Bottom, At Chelwood, Bristol, is now under threat of closure by the local Council Planners. There is a petition here: Frys Bottom Trials – Trials Practice Wood and Camping Ground No idea what is happening there now as their site has not been updated recently.
I ride a vertigo DL 12 2021 and keep snapping the chain the middle of nowhere. As such, I'm looking to buy the strongest chain possible, which appears to be a RK chain. Unfortunately they don't do half links which a vertigo need (a 103 link chain). So I'm think about buying a new rear sprocket to fit a 104 link chain.
I don't want to mess with how the bike rides, so does anyone know if changing the size of the rear sprocket makes much difference at all?
And on the off chance, does anyone know what sprocket teeth count I'd need for a 104 link chain on a vertigo?
Another Coffin Dodger here! You are as old as you feel. Get out and enjoy yourself, because you are a long time dead (as my Father-in-Law would often remind me - bless his soul). Any club on the Easy route will likely be ok to start with. However Championship rounds might be best avoided, Have fun.
Rough idling? According to some Conservative MPs, including Truss, Raab and Pritie Patel, the English are the worst idlers in the world. Is this Spanish bike worse? Asking for a friend.
I don't think you can read anything into the engine rebuild, the fact that it was done implies nothing of use, any concern should be limited to was it done right and what condition is the rest of the bike in.
While rare in modern trials it's very common with 2 strokes to change pistons and crank bearings as preventative maintenance, just look on the forums for any road going 2 stroke and you'll see people being advised to rebuild any newly purchased bike before riding it, I've seen it on tzr and rd sites.
People come on here every now and then from MX backgrounds asking how often they should do a rebuild.
A 2018 Beta Evo 200 should NOT need an engine rebuild unless it has been run on neat petrol or the throttle jammed on full. Not your bike is it?
Best advice is to forget this abused unknown and find yourself another bike. There will be another good Evo 200 along shortly. Always remember Mr Johnson's mantra - never tell the truth. Just sayin.

I think that the "melted" overflow pipe is in fact a hole cut there on purpose to stop the pipe syphoning fuel from the carb.
Poor starting = clean your pilot jet - again. Reset tickover speed.
