  1. As leanin said none of that stuff anywhere close but there was a truck stop within a reasonable distance, sort of. :-) Other than that flat camping. deep water with the sun shining on it, full ice chest and hot dogs over a campfire is what we had to work with....... Leanin- such big words, you made me get out the dictionary
  2. I was there, awesome trials (for my 3rd one). Fun but tough sections, well run and awesome hosts. I hope there are more events at this location.
  3. NEOTT is having their June event this weekend Next Event: June 27 - Scipio, OK - riders meeting @ 09:00 to beat the heat - group ride - click here for directions. Prepare for warm weather - start drinking water 2-3 days prior to the event to get hydrated. Directions: http://www.neott.com/directions.asp#Scipio Schedule: http://www.neott.com/schedule.asp
  4. Is Pat coming back home for the round at Tish ??
  5. Hi Jeremy, Welcome to the board. You guys don't let Jeremy fool you he may be new to trials but he is an excellent rider, whether on the trials bike or his woods bike. Not easy to follow on either one. I hate that I missed the Sooner Cup but maybe the next one.... See ya soon !!
  6. My Alpinestars are very close in size, I wear an 11 ( a 45 ) and the left fits perfectly, the right is a little bigger but still fits good at this point very comfortable. I've been wearing them every evening after work to walk around, do yard work, etc. I even use them on my woods bike. Great feel and good fit so far
  7. Check this thread for acvice. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....showtopic=29668 I went with Alpinestars mainly because I could save some money at the time. I've used them for a couple of weeks and really like them so far
  8. Thanks for all the suggestions, information, and experiences. I've decided to go with Alpinestars at this point. Since they're my first pair, I'm choosing them mainly for the cost factor. I can get them for just over 1/2 of a pair of Garne because of my dealer 'staus'. As I've got to also replace my 10 pound open face street helmet with a lighter more suitable trials helmet I can use the extra $$ right now. I will post back with my opinions as they wear in (or out). LOL !! Thanks again to all.
  9. Hey to all, looking at buying my first pair of trilas specific boots. It appears from my reading that the most popular boots are the Gearne but I can buy Alpinestar No-Stop through my parts dealer here at the repair shop. I'm being tight maybe but a dollar is a dollar. Are the Gearne's worth the extra $$? Thanks in advance
  10. Hey Ron, What's in Kansas this weekend?
  11. I got the word about the fun/work day at the Bay but we have to work a home show in Grove for Mary's company, gotta have gas money for the GasGases I'm also gonna miss the next event at the Bay to work the home show in Joplin. I did get my NEOTT membership application sent in though. I would love to get together and setup or ride, here or elsewhere. I find myself looking for things to climb but I also understand that trials is more than climbing.
  12. I don't know about that Jon...He seems wise to me... Jon, On another note, & for you guys in the NE Okla/NW Ark area, I've been practicing my figure 8's and basic skills right in/around the shop area, so on Sunday I rewarded myself with a trip through the woods at Mary's, have you ever been out there? I know I'm just a newbie but she has a lot of creek bed/bank that would be great for play/practice or maybe even an event if a club was looking for a new site. I spent an hour and a half just playing on a 100 ft section of rock steps and dirt banks that wore me out. Nothing like Tish, but maybe a Scipio?? Surely with 375 acres to work with (+ the Houchens have land adjoining and 2 trials bikes in the family) we could come up with something. I have no knowledge or experience laying sections but I can string tape and trim limbs with direction.
  13. I have a subscription and I look forward to it every month. As a new trials guy I go straight to the Ryan Young training section. I wish I could go back to lesson 1 though, I didn't start my subscription until lesson #9 I think
  14. LMAO !! My first "big" bike was an OSSA Pioneer. I would be definitely interested in OSSA just because....
