    Rear Sag

I have no idea how much 30% is on the beta. Thanks

    Rear Sag

Just fitted a new shock on a 2006 Beta Rev and have 10mm static sag and 45mm with me on the bike. Anyone here know what stock settings are for this bike? Thanks

    2006 Beta Carb Question

Thanks guys found the information, now I have to fix it. Cheers, Peter
  6. I noticed after a few obstacles yesterday that my bike when tilted to the side (very little) is dumping gas out of one of of tubes from the carb. I'm assuming float adjustment? Before removing anything I thought I would ask here for specs, tutorials ect on adjusting the carb on my bike. Thanks, Peter

    Sag On Beta

Thanks. I always adjusted the rebound on the rear full out on a Gasgas. So I should dial it in until its slow and then back off a touch?

    Sag On Beta

Ok the best I can get is 2 (50.8mm) inches of total sag, and 1/2 inch (12.5mm) of static sag. Seem ok? If I loosen the collars on the spring anymore I just get more static sag, but no more sag from body weight. I'm a lighter rider, 160lbs fully clothed so I think this is the best I'll get it. The rider I purchased it from looked about 200lbs, so he had the spring cranked down making the front end rake when I was friding. Also somewhat too hard in the rear. PS just switched from a 2000 Gasser and this bike is a real treat to ride. 550cc's for the transmission? Is 80 weight ok?

    Sag On Beta

I just purchased an 06 Beta and measured rear sag. Without rider 1/4 inch sag, with rider (myself) I get an inch of sag. How much sag should I be looking for? Not sure what total travel is...although I believe sag should be set at about 40%?
  10. Thanks guys. I noticed that the engine is chunkier at about 2 turns out, but crisper at 3. I'll experiment and see what works for my riding style. I think that the spring may be the difference. Perhaps I should try a lower rated spring. I've tried to back off the preload and the suspension feels dead. If I crank it down it becomes to bouncy. I found a happy medium for the shock, but still feel like I'm leaning forward.
  11. I have a 2000 TXT250. On the gasgas tech page it states 3.5 turns out for fuel screw. I assume this is the first smaller screw? Is this a starting point, I have mine about 3 turns out and it runs good there. Secondly I have a newer rear shock on my bike which looks like an 02 shock. The spring has much larger gaps between the coils than my buddies 2000, both are Sachs, but mine has different colored collar bolts to lock the spring down and a different spring ie: gap between coils. It feels as if though my bike rides raked forward no matter how I adjust the front forks. Rear linkage was cleaned, lubed and is fully serviced no issues. Is the 2002 shock longer than the 2000?

    2008 Pro

My buddy just picked up a 2008 Pro TXT 280 and upon startup the fan runs, and it seems to run more than it should. Any experience/ideas about this?

    270 Txt Oil

Not sure about the dextron, but I believe it should be about 300cc for forks drained and refilled. I think that there is a small drain screw at the bottom of the fork that you remove. Its helpful to remove the top cap on the fork leg (looks like you should remove yours and clean them anyways). I find it drains better with the caps off of the leg. Also I think 5 wt for leg oil is recommended. The clickers are quite simple. There should be a set screw (hex) on the side of the cap with a spring and ball bearing inside to set the clicks. Your are probably set too deep or dirty adn ceased. Just take out the screw, clean the bearing and reset so that it clicks freely. Thats my two cents.

    Rear Shock Question

Hi Peter. The shock is grey with a yellow spring. I can't get more than an 1.5 inches of sag as when I loosen the collar nuts off of the shock the spring becomes too loose and moves freely in between the locking nuts and the bottom base. Not sure about the anti-dampening. It is full to the - adjustment. Should it be adjusted towards the + side? This would be anti-clockwise. The shock is new so the spring isn't sagging.
  15. I recently replaced my rear shock with a new shock and thought I'd measure the sag ect. last night. I have 1/2 inch static sag, and 1 inch total sag. This seems low for total sag to me...if memory serves me right should sit about 2 inches? Its a sach shock on a 2000 TXT. Any thoughts on what I should be shooting for? With an inch the suspension seems a little stiff.
  16. Me and a buddy of mine load up the bikes and head to our club for a quick rip, and to our surprise, Geoff Aaron is visiting and riding. To make a long story short I parked the bike and watched him and a few others go ballistic on their bikes. Absolutely amazing!!!

    Preload

I recently picked up a 2000 TXT250 with about 3 hours of riding on it, the rest was storage. Engine runs like a top no problems. I noticed the rear suspension seems somewhat stiff after the first 1/3 of travel. Its ok when you push on the seat base, but as soon as I stand on it, it seems as if my body weight takes up the shocks travel and its stiff from that point onwards. Any ideas? I thought maybe too little preload...or a binding part? All of the linkage looks great and I can't see any binding on it.
  18. My buddies bike made that noise and I suspected low oil in the forks. I looked underneath the fork tubes and one of teh bolts was loose hence all of the fluid in that leg leaked out. I'd make sure all bolts, drain screws ect. are tight as well.
  19. Just found this note on a tech page.... Tech page Endplay of crankshaft in center cases (all models): 0.02~0.03 mm. Note: Use different thickness center case gaskets and/or bearing shims to correct endplay.
  20. Yep the 250 is mine. It has less than 4 hours of riding on it. I've been wanting more power after borrowing my buddies 280 and my other friends 321 while my bike is on the fritz. The extra power sure helped on the big hill climbs, although the 321 was a little intimidating at first for a 150lbs fella.
  21. Thanks all for the help. I had the bike serviced about a month ago. Main bearings replaced?? Seems the wrong bearings may have been used or just an issue with how they were installed. I've since located a really good mechanic as I can do basics, but tearing an engine apart is abit above my learning curve...I know my limitations.

    My New Gasser

Here's my new Gasser. It has about 4 rides on it.
  23. I had a fellow look at it and he figures it either the bearings are the wrong size or improperly installed or could be the crank is out of true. I'm hoping for the bearings. With the clutch taken out and if I pull on the crank shaft it has play...bearings don't move with the crank.
  24. I had a knock in my engine that was diagnosed as lay in crank between bearings. The bearings are new, but the crank shifts back and forth a little causing a knock/vibration. Any suggestions....would a shim suffice?

    Engine Noise

Which bearings are you referring to? I'm going to pop the tank off tonight, and check the coolant level.
