Personally I have always used ATF in all my trials bikes.

Unfortunately the original bloke I was dealing with, Frank Thornton, retired, setting the whole process back another few months! I only stuck with them because I know that they are top quality and actually stay on the tanks for years - I've used several over the years for old motocross bikes. The only differences from stock are that the silver is actually a pale silver/grey and they have perforated mine with small holes so they don't bubble (this is optional). They are also significantly thicker. I supplied a pattern of the sides and top of the tank so that the stickers can cover up a fair bit of the tank if yours is looking scruffy, or they can be cut to the same size as the original stickers. The ones that cover up a lot of the tank are the TY original design but surrounded by bright white to the shape of the tank Their number is 0191 2860744. Can't comment on covers, but if you do search for ty decals on this forum you will find contact details for a firm in Scotland who will make you perforated decals for the ty which do not peel or bubble. Mine have been on for a year now and are perfect. They are thicker than the original sand are perforated but a good alternative.

Crankcase seals need changing. Not difficult,can be don without splitting engine.

Crankcase seals cause this. Easy to do.

Google "In Chains". They give an excellent service.

I have successfully removed the clutch simply by stuffing a rag in between the clutch basket pinion and the first motion pinion . This cannot do any damage as the cloth is soft enough to cushion the pinions as you slacken the cental nut. The basket is replaced using th same method on the other side of the gear mesh. The seal is easy enough to do once the basket is out.

Sounds like crankcase seals on the way out.

6mm inside diameter is what I use for main fuel lines.

You need to contact Yamaha UK Customer Service and quote engine and frame numbers. They will send you a certificate defining the age of the bike you can then use to obtain an age related number. You can of course get it MOT'd using the frame number and then licence it and you will be given a Q number.

If all else fails you could speak to Steve at Motocarb. He sorted my carb out for me. If fuel height is not reaching the starting tube this might cause your symptoms.

Is the crankcase seal itself ok. Certainly sounds like a lack of compression

Crank seals the most likely culprit.

If all else fails change the crank seals. I suspect this will be the problem.
