  1. I've got the same characteristic on my Cub I recon the dreaded cough has cost me a needless five every time I've ridden it to the point where I haven't touched it for ten months now because it just irritates me too much. I've tried lots of things to cure it with little success. My bike runs Boyer and my mates bike with PVL doesn't have the problem anywhere near as much (non when the Delorto is fitted) but it runs lower gearing etc, etc. I run a slow action Domino throttle, have sleaved the carb inlet to 19mm, fitted rubber inlet pipe to reduce heat transfer and lengthened the inlet length and got very trick jets, atomiser and slide fitted. The result is better but not right. The carb now keeps very cold so no vapourising problem but when I go down hill with the throttle closed it will be very rich when I open the throttle, so no cough but still no clean carburation. I think the answer on my bike is PVL and lower the gearing so you don't drop the engine speed too low. The other option is to talk to Martin Adams at Serco and get the credit card ready!
  2. Picking up on what Woody said about the MOT, the garage I used were totally thrown by the bike not having a Reg No because they start with this in the computer. The guy is a mechanic not remotely computer literate and it was easier to send me away than sort the problem, so I left the bike, rang VOSA on his behalf, sorted it out, rang him back told him what to do and collected my bike later. When I got there the staff are having a blazing row over whether the brand new IRC back tyre is legal or not and if it should get a ticket or not, fortunatly the boss has done some trials and was having non of it! If it happens to you there is a drop-down box next to where they have to type in the reg no and they can select not registered and then input the frame number as normal. Only the LVLA to deal with now I can hardly wait!!!!!
  3. AtomAnt, Have you had a bad experience with road trials? Generally in my opinion road trials are better (for me)than closed circuit trials for a number of reasons. 1)You end up with a greater variety of terrain and therefore sections. 2)You get a rest riding between the groups of sections (yes,it's my age). 3)If you don't like a section you don't have to keep going back to it as in multi lappers. 4)You see more of the countryside. 5)Fewer kids to show you up! Yes modern trials bikes are less than suitable for road work, yes it sh*gs your tyres, yes fuel can be a problem and yes legality of your bike is an issue but overall at the end of the day road trials are more enjoyable for me.
  4. Spoke to a mate the other day who is was trying to register a new Gas Gas with a certificate of newness at Worcester and they still insisted on him bringing the bike in. I'll try and have the Armstrong MOT'd this week, had the dating cert from Roy Bacon, what do you recon, should I take the bike in a van and try and get it inspected there and then?
  5. Really helpful guys, presumably I write to DVLA Swansea and ask for the V5? I thought an MOT would be a sensible move but you don't pick that up reading the DVLA website. Thanks alot.
  6. I have just finishing rebuilding an Armstrong 320 which I would like to register for road use. I've registered new bikes with certificate of newness but this can't work like that can it? It has been registered at some time in it's life but the documents are long since lost, anyone got any advice how to go about it? Will I have to go to have it inspected by DVLA? Any advice appreciated.
  7. What can I say momo, thanks, impressed with the response or what? Have passed details on.
  8. Have a mate that has fallen in love with Triumph Twins, does anyone know who and where the Hardy Triumphs come/came from? Are they still about?
  9. All great advice, I've got a 250 03 edition and my advice is keep some free play in the back brake pedal otherwise you can end up with sticking brakes and exploding brake hoses! I've just finished the SSDT on mine, all I changed all week was a plug, and it didn't need that! - What a bike!
