had similar problem with a 350 i had once turned out it was the breather pipe on the bing carg was to long i cut it back and bingo sorted the problem. also i was told to lay the bike on it's side this worked before i cut the breather pip back i use to lay it on it's side every i started it. as boghopper says be good start to put the new crank seals in if it's been stood 20 plus years they will be rock hard.

hello the exhaust needs to be cut open on the down section there's a perforated tube inside with fibreglass packing around it both can be replaced. the club foot dose not need repacking i would just flush it out with caustic soda. i got mine done for me dose make the bike run alot better and is not as loud.
  5. hit it with a big hammer you will have to cut it out just done 1 on a 198B
  6. bondy replied to jap350's topic in Bultaco
i also cleaned my back box out as above. and it.s a good idea to have the down pipe repacked but you mentioned it was a new exhaust. so as mentioned could be the carb.

never hear that 1 before about the plug like you say may be a doggy 1 or you putting the plug cap on proper on the new 1? is your plug cap the typ that takes the plug with the nipple on the end? if it dose and the nipple is not on the plug it won't have a good connection.
  9. bondy replied to trum's topic in Bultaco
1 and a half turns out from bottom is just a starting point. mikuni carbs are some times not that easy to set up make sure you have the correct jetting slide needel ect. check if the new plug sparks when it's out you may not have connected it proper.

the headsteady above was painted in hammerite i have a new 1 think it's just steel i will have it semi bright nikel plated when i take some other bits there's a local place to me that does nikel plating. i will have a peice welded on the under side to strengthen it.
