    Help

After rebuilding my tr34 engine im having problems getting it to run properly it will start with the choke out and warm up when i push the choke in it slows to a idle the problem starts once i try to rev it i have followed the instructions for setting up that i obtained from off-road .coms ride -net web page for the mikuni carb but i dont really know which screws are which i have a large thumb screw at the base of the carb which i assume is the idle air screw or pilot air screw i dont seem to have a throttle stop screw or cant see one on the side of the carb. When i open the throttle it seems to choke the engine regardless of where the thumb screw is set believe me when i say i have tried it from fully closed to fully open in 1/4 of a turn increments to no avail apart from my left foot being black and blue from trying nearly all bl---y day any help will be greatly appreciated as im at my wits end and sick of hearing it go buuuurr and die out.

    Reed Valves

I dont know how they work but iff anyone can explain it would be greatly apreciated The reed valves on my tr34 are in 2 parts per side a large piece that covers the whole of the wedge they are mounted to and a smaller piece that covers two smaller slots on the large piece should there be a small gap between the large piece and the small piece this is only about .5mm i have tried turning them over but the gap remains the same so what i really need to know is should there be a gap and iff not will it affect the performance of the bike or am i worrying about nothing
  8. Hi im looking for the right hand side panel for my TR34 to finish off rebuild so iff you can help pleeeeeeeeeeease get in touch many thanks mark
  9. Hi i will be getting my engine bits back next week new piston re nicosiled barrel etc what is the best way to run it in and what petrol to oil mix should i use.Can anyone also explain how to set up the mikuni carb fitted to my bike[tr34] as i suppose this is critical so i dont run it too lean but i dont know what all the screws are for yours mark
  10. Can anyone tell me why the mikuni carb on my tr34 has a little round plastic window in the side of the slider body cheers mark
  11. Hi i watched your bike on ebay with great intrest as im just in the middle of rebuilding mine iff its as good as the listing suggested i think you have done well for the money.I have stripped mine down to the last nut and bolt and beginning to re-build from what i have seen so far they are very well put together only problem there isnt much info available for them so when you get stuck you have to start picking everyones brains but so far no real problems yours mark
  12. Thanks for the info i will be using langcourts for sure and for anyone who is intrested the thread on a tr34 flywheel is 26mm x 1.5 pitch and the 26mm is a right hand thread unlike on some machines which are coddy handed cheers mark
  13. cheers i was thinking of using a firm called dps who advertise in trials and mx news but i suppose they will just sub it out anyway so decided to send to langcourts

cheers will have a trip to lampkins as i only live about 10 miles away
  15. Good idea the modelling clay but managed to find some pitch gauges at work that will fit inside, will have to measure tomorrow and yes it was a runner before stripping just down on power due to bore wear .i will try to post some pics as rebuild continues yours mark
  16. yes it would be easy but my pitch gauges are too big to fit between crankshaft and flywheel I realise you can spend a lot of money repairing a older bike but i have good reason to restore this one I only paid
  17. Yes sounds easy i can measure the thread diameter but im unable to get into the threads with pitch gauges due to crank being in the way and thought if anyone could tell me sizes it would save a lot of messing around cheers mark
  18. cheers andy dont know what i was playing at
  19. Hi here i am with yet another set of questions for your deliberation What size thread is in the flywheel ie pitch and diameter as i want to make or buy a puller, i suppose they are left handed Does anyone have or know where i can get a manual for the tr34 Does anyone have any spares they would like to part with You chaps have been great so far and its nice to know where i can turn when im stuck Thanks once again mark
  20. Cheers HONDArs it seems like someone has gone to a lot of trouble to design this idea what is the theory behind it. thanks mark
  21. Thanks for the info looks like i had better connect them back up although i dont know why someone has disconnected them in the first place cheers mark
  22. on my tr34 there are 2 pipes blanked off on the carb it looks like there should be two pipes going to the crankcase one at the side of the flywheel housing the other in the centre of the crankcase ,what are they for and would they be better connected or left blanked off cheers mark
  23. cheers ron, preload spacers? do these go inside the forks above the springs. Please tell me iff this is the genral idea put a cable tie around the fork without me on it so forks are at top of stroke, stand on machine so forks compress, get off machine and measure how far cable tie has travelled adjust length of spacer to either lower or raise forks sorry to be a pain in the butt but all this is new to me but ifeel iff the bike is set up something like i stand a better chance of learning how to ride yours mark
  24. can anyone please explain the correct way to set up the rear suspension on my tr34 how much tension do i put on the spring adjuster? how should i set the seperate chamber ?ithink this is the damping should i pump up with air or gas how much damping should i set on the rebound adjuster sorry to ask simple questions but have never ridden a trials bike before so i have no idea when where or why i should adjust settings, come to think of it could someone recommend a decent book on trials riding and where to obtain as i seem to have a million and one questions to ask, thanks once again for your time effort and most of all your patience

I can relate to the piston slap as you can put the piston into the bore without compressing the ring and it just slides through and out the other end also at tdc there is a slight amount of lift in the conrod bearing but i hope to have both these problems sorted in the next couple of weeks.Does anyone have any tips for stripping the bottom end i:e when splitting cases can i keep the gear cluster in one half of the case any advice greatly appreciated and thanks for all the replys they have given me plenty of enthusiasm for getting her back up and running as soon as possible cheers mark
