  1. Hi Woody Its just they look like the ones on the photos of a 183 ? in the above links there was a diagram of the air box posted on here on the 2nd of feb the bike before the one i use to have, they are much bigger in size top to bottom and have a big flat head screw on the right hand side i think it may give access to the air filter not sure....... just trying to do my home work before i get asked for the money he would like 1,500 pounds Good to know some fitted them because they thought them better not just the bits they had left over, thanks for that info Im just trying to make sense of what i can see in the photos has the bike been looked after, i think im going to have to try and talk my friend Bob into coming with me to look at the engine to make sure it will not need too much doing to it if i get it, that will make 3 of use between us we should be albe to work out if i should hand over the cash ???? Thanks for all your help with this
  2. Thank you for your replies old trials fanatic, cvgmmartin and woody its got me looking in the right places now. seen some photos of the bike and it has the Jb- 199 as part of the frame number then ends in A so it should have the same as part of the engine number ? which would mean its a 325 ( handful of fun ) can not see the engine numbers on the photos but will see it this weekend not going to have much pocket money left if the engine sounds good Not sure what the going price is for a 199A ? no visible rust looks used but not battered to me ? like i know any thing mikuni carb seems to have the side covers off a 183 on it So thanks for pointing me in the right direction
  3. Hello every one Im about to go look at a bultaco and was hope- ing some one could please help me ? with how i can tell what engine it has in it by looking at the engine number ? is there some were on the engine thats say 325cc ? or 250 sorry but ..... i know nothing ..... unless it has a sticker on a side panel. Is it also part of the frame number to do with engine size Any info at all i would be really great full for Thank you
  4. Hi Pschrauber Great i was hoping to see some of pictures taken of us all riding our bikes from around the 70s some of the best bikes ever made i think . Some one once said to me if you paint your Bultaco green every one will think i you have one of them works Italjets
  5. Well after some more rides on my Dads Beamish 250 i decided i needed a new bike i didn't really my 250 Bultaco was brilliant, but i had passed my test so bigger is better ?? So i ordered a new 325 Beamish. In my first trial i was thinking im in over my head here im not sure if i can stay on top of this thing ....... Has some one sold me an bike with a RM motor in an RL frame But there was a Beamish sponsored rider at the trial and he said just ride it real slow and let the engine do the work so i did. I found it kind of had 2 sides real slow with lots of grip or aim and fire my self up some thing and i got up some things i had never got up before much quicker than i thought possible still fell off at the top but i made it up there.
  6. My dad got him self a really nice red and black 250 Beamish Suzuki and he let me have a go i was a Bultaco boy so was a bit like forget it but he said its real easy to ride, it just floated around in a nice way and was really easy to ride, for me the bultaco felt more planted you felt the ground more you new what you were riding over, but the beamish just floated up the stream like it was no big deal it was completely different to ride i liked them both
  7. Its a long time ago but it looks like i am trying to stay on line welsh mud is getting the better of me yet agin, good job i was on my Bultaco which gave me more than a fighting chance. They ran some brilliant trials in Wales
  8. Not out of the woods yet South Liverpool Motor Club event late 70s and i still have my feel on the pegs, must have got this photo before i crash .....
  9. I have so much to learn Thanks for the great feed back

    Thanks for that Grib
  11. Hi Hewson, I think the price sicker would have looked better if they had rounded it off to £ 4444. They must have spent lots of time on it to make it look as good as it did. Below the price is a list of all the things they did to the bike, the ones i have been looking have been £ 1444 and i think that a fair price for the bikes i have seen Im still trying to work out why you would change the steering angle i mean world class riders helped develop the bike and they were happy with the way it turned the sections were a 100 times harder than the ones i will be riding. what happens if you like the way it turn s but you have to fight with it to keep it on line because every little movement is now picked up by your new head angle, must be fun in a rocky stream bed and climbs Hay but what do i know
  12. I would like one that i can ask my friends to show me the best way to rebuild it so i can learn how to do some of the maintenance my self well the bits i can be trusted to do. Im sure it would also be nice to have some one do the work for you to this one looks magic.
  13. Thank you all for your feed back on the Fantic 200 pro its all a really big help i have a lot to learn, here is one i spotted at the The Telford show this year looked as good as new
  14. Hi Old Trials Fanatic, Have saved your website as a favorite good to know you have lots of Classic Club events
  15. The TY 175 sounds like a good idea i have seen that you get a lot for your money with the TY i had a go on one when i my last Bultaco and after we both looked at each other... like mine better ! i guess its just what your use to and now im a bit older and wiser he he well i would like to think so...... May be the TY 175 is just right for me now and it would keep me nicely with in my price range. I feel like a spring chicken until i get up ...... i have started to fall to bits bit early er than planed but i still have some get up and go left. I have some friends from Chapel en le Frith its really beautiful round there. I seem to remember you had lots of nice streams with big steps ( small water falls that use to get the better of me ....... all those years ago. I was thinking i will try to time one of my trips home to fit in with some Classic trials to watch the twinshock bikes and look at the sections they are riding. I still ride a mountain bike in the summer like i use to ride my trials bike ( too much snow winter to see the trails ) going slowly and picking my line they call it technical single track the bike about 15 kg with fox air shocks front and back 20cm discs and with me being the engine i will never be overpowered. in the wrong gear most of the time .... Im not into going fast never have been, hope i can manage to have some fun again with nice little twinshock, im not in a rush to pick which bike but i will have a go on a TY 175 before i make my mind up so thanks for the feed back Will be fun come along and watch and look at the bikes again really looking forwards to it.
  16. Hi Bilks, Thanks for the Links they are just the kind of info i was hoping to find looks like the later mono engine numbers have easy to date numbers on them and may be ?? ( im really not sure about this ) the first generation of monos have almost the same engines in them as the last twinshocks. So thanks again for the links My nice lives in and works in York and loves it there.

Hi Grib, Is there any chance when you have time could you please have a look what the engine number is on your Fantic 201 just the bit that says its a from Fantic 201, im trying to work out which engine it has in a bike im looking at. thanks
  18. I have my eye on a fantic 200 pro and the people selling say that they are not sure if its a real 200 pro engine in it my be from a 201 mono the bike looks great, have had a go at searching google for info on engine numbers and could not find any tips on what to look for. So if any one could please offer any kind of info on what numbers and letter need to be in the engine number to says it a 200 pro twinshock engine or its a 201 mono or later engine and how do the frame and engine numbers match up number wise. so i can tell that fantic put that frame and engine together when they built it. I would be very greatful for your time and advice
