  1. Hello zisko62, have you got any information where I can get a spare one for the Jumbo (or for the TL320) ?
  2. Going on the safe side and have packed just the one casing with the big hole to be welded. I´ve orderd some JB Weld stuff for the less damaged ones !
  3. Hi nh014, the over-filled idea was my first thought but as I changed oil this year and have filled as recommended it cant really be that (theres nothing coming out of the breather hole (hose) either.

    Tl320 Seat

thats another possibility, maybe professionaly done. It seems that I now know its not a seat that was usualy found as series. It´s comfortable and doesn´t get in the way when riding. Thanks all for your interest

    Tl320 Seat

I´m not so sure because the seat base is exactly like the others with the screws fot the seat straps at the back. If it was a long seat they would have probably been further back "or not". Maybe its a shortend long seat cover on a short seat base. What about the fixing pins on the frame have you seen them so low down before ? Ian
  6. Hi Martin, the case with a hole is the damaged one you sent me at the begining of the year for my Jumbo. This hole is now about as big as a 50p piece as well because a welder tried to do it but used a welding rod which was Alu based. As you said it also just fell out after a short time lying or resting on the shelf. It would be good to hear if your welder really used a magnesium rod (if I find it again I´ll give the ID-Nr. of these rods which cost about 30,- a piece).
  7. Hi Martin THANKS for the important information !! Haven´t sent them off up to now and I´m not sure if it´s such a good idea if you have already tried some specialists. Did they use Magnesium welding rods and WIG or TIG or was it Alu-Magnesium that they tried ? All that I have spoken to say that the oil can be a real problem which is no big surpreis. Did the welding break straight away or after some time ? Ian
  8. Hi Guys, on my 349 I´ve noticed oil drops on the sump guard (clutch side). after cleaning i´ve found that its running down from a) the clutch arm the clutch filler plug and c) the geabox filler plug. This isn´t always there sometimes theres nothing. The oils coming from the top side which I cant explain (the breather pipe is clear). What I have noticed is it seems to be when its hot (+35°C) (the bikes in a shed). I´ve got another 349 and this was standing in a sort of sommer house in spring. One day after it had been quite sunny and the sommer house was very warm it also had oil on the sump guard (on the other side) which I wiped off and put the bike in a colder room (it´s never happend again) ? Anyone had any experiences with this sort of thing ?

    Swm 320 Jumbo

Hi Sadrob I´ve presently got a 320 from 1978 in good condition a 320 from 1980 in useable condition a 320 from 1981 in quite reasonable condition but lacking in compression a bit (I ride this one quite often because the lacking of compression is not much but makes it very forgiving and won´t stall where others do) and a 350 Jumbo from 84 but this is still not together. Have you got any contact details from this guy ?

    Tl320 Seat

Hi b40rt yes I know martins page. Even if you look at the parts list of 1978 where a short and a long seat are shown the short trials seat is the flat one. My seat is something in the middle of both but has origional SWM on it.

    Tl320 Seat

Hi Guys, has anyone knowledge about the early seats on the first gunaco bikes ? My TL 320 Gunaco has a thickly polsterd single seat with SWM Logo in it. I´ve looked for pictures etc. of other ones and they all have the new sort which is much thiner and harder. The bike has following details that can still be read TL / 111179 / 00007 the rest has gone with the years but it must be a quite early one as it has 34 mm forks before they changed to 35 mm. Looking at a picture of the long ride version it seems this had a simular thick seat but was just a bit longer.
  16. Thanks for all coments, I´ll be sending them to a specalised welding company asap.
  17. Thanks a lot Woody I´ll do all as instructed and see what I can find. Don´t think its the weight because I had the bike on the side and could see the crankshaft moving as I pulled and pushed it. What do you think about the after market chain tensioner that In motion have (to be fitted by drilling a hole in the casing) ? The Gripper is a loud bike in comparison to all my other bikes (3 xSWM & 2 x Montesa) this makes it more difficult to decide where the noise really comes from. The primary chain is definatly worn and quite slack so I wanted to get it chagned. As it´s loud at tickover I thought this could probably be the cause. Just botherd because I saw the rubbing marks inside and want to be sure before I order things (international postage). The sump guard was missing when I got the bike and it was loud then. I´ve got a new one and fitted it some weeks ago so I don´t really need to look there.

    Swm 320 Jumbo

very nicely finished how many hrs ? gear lever from Italy ? where and who from (I just got 3 pcs. sent from Rotax but there a bit different) ?
  19. Hi all ! Anyone got any experience about having Magnesium casings professionly welded (with MG welding Rod) ? I intend sending three clutch casings to be welded they say its no problem but can only be done from experts that have the right material and knowledge.
  20. Hi all !! My 350 Gripper (that I got about a year ago but havent done much with) has a loud engine. The noise seems to be coming mainly from inside the clutch cover but its difficult to say exactly. I opend up this side and have found that the primary chain is quite sloppy. I´m not sure if I could change this my self or if it´s to difficult. Maybe a chain tensioner for In motion would be the right choice as it hasn´t got one ? The othe thing that I noticed is that inside the clutch cover casing there are some very light score marks where the weight on the end of the crank has been rubbing on the cover. I investigated this and have fond that the crank has play in it from left to right (but not up and down). Would this be normal or is something badly worn and if so what ? Thanks in advance !!
  21. Thanks jimbo it does help to ask before starting the job. I´ll bring my compressor and impact drive home from the workshop and have a go at it on saturday.
  22. Hi all, before taking the front sprocket off my 349 can someone say if it´s a left or right hand thread. I expect it´s a right hand because its got e retaining clip but i´d rather be certain before maybe tightening it instead of untightening it. Thanks
  23. I must be getting very old as I´v found a Socket in the Trials-Tool-Box. Suddenly rememberd seeing one there (things like taht are VERY strange and sometimes a bit worrying) !
  24. Hi Bisby I will do what you suggest if nothing else helps, but I wanted to buy or borrow a socket that fits as Stecks suggested I now know its a 3/4 drive socket as 1/2 only go up to 32 mm. Thanks again Ian
  25. hey guys can any one say what size socket fits the nut (left hand thread) on the final drive to change the front sprocket ? Thanks all Ian
