    Piston Clearance

Hi Guys anyone out there got an old Datasheet from Rotax for the 280engine with the max. / min. Piston clearance, max piston ring gap and any other useful bits ?
  3. Hi there are 2 for sale in Germany at the moment http://kleinanzeigen.ebay.de/anzeigen/s-italjet-trial/k0
  4. @ b40rt (Ross ?) Yes it was magnesium pure magnesium as I´m told (this seems to be important when welding as a mix with alloy is easier I´m told). He did a great job of it and it looks as if theres never been a hole in it. I had to send it with the post as he´s about 500 km away. and it costed about 40,- GBP (50,- Euro) + postage.
  5. My 350 Jumbo had no clutch casing when i got it and the one I got hold of had a big hole in the casing this has been welded but it took a while to find a specialist to weld the magnesium casing. I also have 4 320´s that have smaller holes in the clutch casings these we have glued with no problems so just depends on the size of your hole. The power development of the Jumbo will be interesting as I got the bike with a lot of bits missing. I´m now just waiting for a few last bits and the tires I´ve orderd.
  6. I also have a 350T thats waiting for more attention. Can´t compare yours with my one as it seems as if they forgot to deliver yours and it stood in a crate for say 30 years ! As far as I know you need 2000 ml oil in the box.
  7. Hi I also have a red framed TL320 (with yellow plastics). The red frame seems to be the orig. colour. I have the regisration document which dates it as being 1980 and sold from new in Germany I still cant decide if i want to keep it red framed as it looks a bit strange compared to the yellow / black and red / white ones I have.
  8. Thanks Ross and thanks Martin ! I had been looking for a fixing point on the frame. Now having seen the pic all is quite clear. My oneis missing but I may be able to get a used one (if not the universal one could be of interest). Ian
  9. Hi all has anyone out there got a picture of the clutch lightening device with two cables for the Jumbo ?
  10. Hi can anyone tell me what these nuts are allen key or what ? There recessed and I can´t see what it is as theres a lot of rust etc.

    External Condensor

Hi b4ort thanks for your reply and yes I think we thinking the same. I intend to join the 2 black wires (coming from coil and going to the points + then when closed to earth) as well as the blue wire also now on the condensor (3 wires altogether) and going up to the HT-coil (in which I will connect the condensor).

    External Condensor

Hi all, I´m thinking of moving the condensor up under the petrol tank so that it can easily be changed. Anyone done this ? I suppose you can just join the three wires where the condensor normaly is and then fit the condensor in the blue wire to the HT coil (or not) ?

    Rotax Uk

Hi all, bad news for all that used the good service from Rotax UK. Peter has now retired.
  14. Hi guys (and galls) I´ve just got hold of a TLM320 Gunaco (with the long ride seat) . It´s an early one and has a clutch cover (casing) thats different to my other ones as it has a seperate small cover in the casing that can be taken off and just one plastic screw cap. Anyone else seen this sort before ? Cheers Ian

    Rotax Uk

Hi all is it possible that Peter Knight has stoped doing the Rotax spares etc. ? I recieved a message today that Force Motorcycles are the dealers ? Ian
  16. Hi Guy´s just got hold of a T350 in quite origional condition for it´s age as all parts are there. It was sold as a non runner as the quite thin shaft from the Kick start knuckel where the lever turns is bent and the lever hits the frame or pegs. After straightening this a bit I looked for a spark but didnt find one. Now having to open the casing I found that someone had welded the gear lever on its shaft (the gear change needed looking at any way because it changes but is very loose and doesnt return as it should do). I cut the weld away and got the casing off. Now having it open I´ve found that someone has had a go it things before because the flywhel is loose and the retaining nut is missing as is the woodruf key. The threads on the crank don´t look very good and I´m not sure if I´ll get the nut on the thread. Can anyone help with what thread this is and which woodruf key is used to buy some new ones. The gear change seems to be worn and the spring looks as if its bent, also the splines on the shaft are badly worn and due to cutting the weld off its now a bit short on one side. Has anyone got spares or can you help with advice ?

    Ossa Manual

Hi Guys, anyone got a spare Clymer Ossa workshop manual or know where I can get one from without taking out a mortgage for it ?
  18. Hi again I have Just read the posting from bisby (steve). Is this a book just for the Ossa (ossa clymer manual) or a general book for different makes (I seem to remember seeing one like this at amazon that if I remember right was for Bultaco, Montesa and Ossa etc.)
  19. Hi Woody, I realise that you are only giving me general advice and not specific instructions. Thats just what I need at present. I certainly wont be starting anything without finding someone that can help if it gets tricky or maybe does all. Maybe I can find someone in my area as I would like to get a bit more experience in rebuilding and this seems to be necessary. Thanks again for the very useful help !
  20. The 303 is a beaty but very much the same as the Gripper. There was one for sale a while ago for about 5500 Euros ! It´s a shame but I haven´t got this sort of money to spend.
  21. Thanks again for youre advice on this subject Woody, Ive now at last got around to having another look and after removing the Ignition side cover as you suggested its possible to say that the crank has the same movement on this side about 3 mm left to right if you push and pull it. It also has some up and down movement but less (about 1 or 2 mm). What do you think could be the cause for this (maybe a worn crankshaft or main bearings). Is this a job that most people can do ? I have had top ends off and clutch things etc. but never opend an engine completely up and I´m rather concernd taht I might not get all the bits back together again.
  22. Sorry jojotut, I made the mistake to put es (for spain it should be http://hem.spray.se/manyb/ ! You should then come to the workshop manual for 5 speed engines.

    Cota 348 Airbox

Hi, Ive got 2 349´s one is missing the airbox and I´ve fitted a universal foam thing. If you want to get one a chap in Germany has reproduction ones www.montesa.de (there a bit expensive for liking).
  24. Hi all, leaned the bike on the other side now and the drippings almost stoped (the clutch casing etc. are now dry) but I´ve found a bolt head just behind the sprocket under the breather pipe and this was wet and quite loose. Any one know for what this bolt is as its not in the parts list I have ?
  25. Hi jojotut have a look at this http://hem.spray.es/manyb it covers the 5 speed engine and should help. Haven´t had any time for the Gripper recently as theres too much work and it´s to hot for me to take it apart in the sun (a Garage or workshop would be good).
