  1. I would guess that it would not be that much cheaper buying from the uk dealer. Your heli part were probably quite cheap compared to mitani bits, so if you put in an order a grands worth of bling, customs will probably find out and you will have to pay the import duty(i think the tax free limit is

  2. Hi!

No need to drain gearbox oil just lay the bike down on some blankets.

Remove all bolts around the clutch casing and water pump. (no need to drain coolant, contained in pump and sealed)

With a twelve point 7mm socket remove the small bolts around the clutch, keep these safe they get lost very easily! lol

Remove the spring and retaining ring that the bolts go through.

Remove the thick outer plate and the little fingers that point to the center of the clutch.

The clutch plates will now be able to be removed! (3 fibre, 2 steel)

With a vernier calliper or micrometer measure the thickness of the clutch pack. It should be between 9.75mm and 9.85mm. Any more than this the clutch will drag, any less may slip and will be heavier than is meant to be!

Sorry don't know how much a different stell plate is!

Hope this helps you out mate!

    cheers,

    Sean

P.S Remember to buy a new clutch case gasket before doing it as the old one, if anythig like mine, may self destruct while removing!

Before you remove the small bolts on the clutch, take out the centre allen bolt and the whole assembly comes out in one piece. You can then work on it on a bench just in case you drop a small screw into the engine!!

  3. Does anyone have a copy of the parts manual and service manual in pdf format. It used to be on the us montesa site. I had it but my pc crashed the other day and I have lost all my information.

    cheers

    richard :hyper:

PM me with your email address and I will fire them over

Thanks gizza5....Exactly what I needed. cheers

  4. Toothed belts won't take dirty conditions, the muck quickly builds up on the pulleys increasing their diameter until either the belt snaps or a bearing fails.

Renthal chains seem to be pretty tough, but best for me was always an O-ring chain. Fit it, adjust it once then leave it alone, just clean it with de-watering oil. Lasted 2-3 sets of sprockets. Doesn't seem to be enough room for them on the latest bikes though. Plus they absorb a little of the power that everyone seems to think they need.

If you take an old chain apart, you will find that it has 'stretched' because each pin has worn visibly, closer inspection shows that each bush has also worn, it's the slackness in each joint that increases the length of the chain.

    de-watering oil......Is that the geordie word for wd40???!! :hyper::D:thumbup:

  5. After buying an imaculate 250 pro i thought id freshen her up with some new plastic ware.

now having called a couple of retailers ive been informed that 03 onwards seat airbox unit is different to 02.

meaning if i want later style plastics i have to buy a new airbox?

any body have any experiance of this? how different are the later mudguards?

From memory the 03 and newer airbox/seat are much better than the 02 type. The 02 airbox has the electrics going through it and is prone to water incursion. The downside is that the last time I priced one they were about

  6. Every time I see "which chain " I cringe. As Barry said there was a major topic on Iris chains a few months ago. My iris chain had been on and in use for around 3 hours when it snapped in a river with steep bank sides at a section which was about as far away from my car as possible. the dealer changed it no questions asked for a DID which so far has been fine .

I have used DID chains for a couple of years now and find them very good. They are very heavy duty compared to the iris and they are

  7. I've got a DT tool with a removable needle that came in a road type kit for use with red rubber type sealing wedges. The handle has a screw on end cap and you simply remove the needle and pop it inside the handle. More compact and 100% safe. The wedge type inserts are useless but the tool is correct for DT's. Problem solved.

Super dandy great but you still havent answered the question........WHERE DID YOU GET IT FROM?????????????

    :D

  8. I need your help everyone. My 4rt has recently started to make a rumbly ticking noise from the clutch. I cant remember whether it goes away if you or pull in or release the clutch but it is there all the time. I dont know if is connected but recently I have noticed that it does not change gear easily until the engine has been run for a while and everything is hot which has never been an issue in the past. I have replaced the oils (repsol 4t & lub htx) so I dont think it that. Is it possible that I just need a new clutch or is it something more sinister??

    Thanks in advance monty fans

  9. I had an iris chain on my 4rt. Looked nice but after about 4 trials I noticed the chain was quite loose. I adjusted the snail cams and it was that stretched the oversize cams could not take out the slack. chucked it in he bin and bought a DID chain. Would never again risk buying an iris as I would gues it would make a big mess of the bike if it broke and it would smart if it hit you.

  10. Hope only do the billet top yoke in black!

i have a second hand unmarked one looking for a new home.

I beg to differ. My mate has got one in black, but mine is definately titanium and its got hope etched all over it!!!!. I will post a photo soon. :wall:

  11. I`vw seen that BVM do a Fat Bar Conversion Kit in Black. Do Hope REP do any other colours or are they on special order ?

Do people prefer Fat Bars or Standard Renthals as I`m thinking of investing more bling for me new bike!!!

I got my parts from bvm. black fatbars and titanium hope triple clamp.

  12. I had fat bars om my 05 gasser pro with the renthal clamps and they were great. When I got my 4rt I swapped the bars over and used a titanium coloured hope top clamp to put on the fatbars. The top clamp is of the highest quality and is engineered and finished off beautifully( a real work of art). I think they feel much better than the stock bars. Seems to soak up more of the vibrations and it maybe a mind trick but they just feel more comfortable. They also give you a little extra space when you go face first into the triple clamp and look great too so I think it is worth investing!

I will post photos soon...when I can get one in the daylight.

  13. Dominic,

Can you contact Geoff our mechanic.

    01282 428383.

Rather than make a comment such as "non-runner" let's get to the bottom of why the bike won't start and get you "up and running" again.

    Caroline @ Sandiford's

Honda definately doesn't want any negative press about the 4rt do they. They seem to be making a good job of acheiving that with the levels of service they provide. All we can hope for is that the other manufacturers use this as the yard stick and up their game to same level. In my experience honda seems to want to go that extra mile to get you sorted out.

Not that the other manufacturers provide inadequate service but its nice to see honda being so pro-active.

    Keep up the good work
