But ultimately they once again failed to qualify for a major tournament just like in 2000 2002 2004 2006 and now 2008.

OPENING CEREMONY
The flame will be ignited by a petrol bomb thrown by a native of the city.
The flame will be contained in a large, overturned police van situated on the roof of the stadium.
THE EVENTS
In previous Commonwealth games Glaswegian competitors have not been particularly successful.
In order to redress the balance some of the events have been altered slightly to the advantage of local athletes.
100 Metres Sprint - Competitors will have to hold a DVD player and microwave oven (one under each arm)
and on the sound of the starting pistol a police dog will be released from a cage 10 yards behind the athletes.
110 Metres hurdles - As above, but with added obstacles (car bonnets, hedges, garden fences, walls, etc).
Hammer - Competitors may choose the type of hammer they wish to use (claw, sledge, etc).
The winner will be the one who can cause the most physical damage within three attempts.
Fencing - Entrants will be asked to dispose of as many stolen goods as possible in 5 minutes.
Shooting - A strong challenge is expected from local men in this event.
The first target will be a moving police van.
In the second round competitors will aim at a Securicor officer.
The traditional .22 rifle has been replaced in this event by a choice of either a Browning
automatic pistol, or a sawn-off 12 bore shotgun.
Boxing - Entry to the boxing event will be restricted to husband and wife teams and will take place on a Friday night.
The husband will be given 15 pints of Stella, while the wife will be told not to make him any tea when he gets home.
The bout will then commence.
Cycling Time Trials - Competitors will be asked to break in to the University bike shed and take an expensive
mountain bike owned by some mummy's boy on his first trip away from home, all against the clock.
Cycling pursuit - As above, but the bike will be owned by a visiting member of the Fiji rugby sevens team, who will witness the theft.
Modern Pentathlon - Amended to include mugging, breaking and entering, flashing, joyriding and arson.
Swimming Events - All waterways are currently being tested for toxicity levels.
Once one is found that can support human life, swimming events will be organized.
Please note that the synchronized swimming event for this year will comprise of
dropping acid a nd watching all the funky ripples on the pool.
The Marathon - A safe route has yet to be found.
Men's 50km Walk - Unfortunately, this event will have to be cancelled as the police cannot guarantee
the safety of anyone walking the streets of Dalmarnock, especially anyone who appears to be mincing.
THE CLOSING CEREMONY
Entertainment will include formation rave dancing by members of Calton Health in the Community anti-drug campaign,
synchronized rock throwing and music by The Bridgeton Community Choir. The flame will be extinguished
by riot police water cannon following the inevitable pitch invasion by confused Celtic supporters.
The stadium will then be boarded up before the local athletes break in and remove all the copper piping and the central heating boiler.
To guarantee the entry of any athletes from the local area at all, drug testing has been waived for the duration of the games

What can I say another great night for Scottish Football. God knows what the United Kingdom is going to do with itself next July?
-
According to the todotrial website Russia and Morroco have been cancelled.

I like Airoh helmets, not stupidly expensive and the liner can be removed for washing. I've seen the prototype for the Dougie Nitro helmets, seem to be very good, however I'm unsure as to when they will actually be available or the cost.
Don't know too much about the XC ting ones, look a funny shape to me.
-
Okay if you buy my beer all weekend.
-
The Norweigan round has been cancelled.
Dabster,
you can get a ferry from Newcastle to Gothenburg. Are you going to pick me up your way?
-
I recommend Gaerne, great quality boot. Has anyone tried the XC Ting boots?
-
I'll save my chuckling till after next Wednesday.

When did the FIM Calendar change? I have a mate who lives near Oslo and was looking forward to a trip there for the WTC and the chance to pay
-
I didn't say I wouldn't laugh if they didn't though.

I'm sure a few will, but the the Rev 3 is a proven bike that has been around for a while, most people who will have wanted to try one will have probably already done so. If he rides the Rev 4, which seems doubtful, then a greater number may be tempted to convert.
It would be interesting to know how many Beta riders converted to 4RT following Bou's defection last year?

Even though the whole of Scotland will be cheering on Russia firstly and then Scotland this evening. I genuinely want Scotland to beat the Italians and qualify for Euro 2008.
-
That goes without saying.

Sheffield is fairly Central in UK, easily accesible on the M1 motorway, bit small by US standards only 3 lanes. Sheffield in also very accessible by rail, all depends on where you fly into to.
As regards tickets, VIP or otherwise.

Have you not noticed that Trials Central is becoming the Sunday Sport of motorcycle trials websites?
This is quite tame compared with what I've learnt to do with a pop bottle, a baloon and a few spare days.
-
Atomant, you and your wife's friend will be able to tell won't he?
-
-
He must be gutted that Doug hasn't retired.
-
Similar to Australia in that a criminal record is compulsory...

Since reading this forum I've gone from thinking Dougie will be riding for
1 Montesa. Surely they would give him another year?
2 Team Silsden Xispa.
3 Beta. Had a browse on the todotrial website, read their posting and although unconfirmed thought that they wouldn't, for professional reasons, publish such a story, even if it is unconfirmed.
4. Now after reading Andy's post I am unsure. Beta 51% Montesa 49%.
However the most important issue is that Doug rides next years WTC indoor and outdoor, achieves his 100th round win and goes out there and gives me and every other trials fan in Britain something to cheer about, regardless of which factory he is riding for. I cannot imagine a WTC without him, doesn't bear thinking about. Don't get me wrong I will be a little disappointed if he does leave Montesa but I support and cheer on Doug because of Doug and not because of which bike rides for.
Andy,
if you were in Newcastle why divvin ya call roound for a cupper tea, why aye man!! After all I only live 15 minute from the toon.
-
So what about the first round of the indoor WTC on 22nd December 2007 in Ekaterinburg? Sort of complicates things contractually.
