  1. Hi Guys,

    As the title says, I was out tonight for a little play and had only been on the bike 5 min, was crossing a field so gave it a little blast and as I slowed down the bike cut out.

    Tried for ages to get it started but it didn't want to know, so far we checked there was fuel getting into carb, which is clean & not blocked. Then we checked the plug which was a bit wet but looked ok, but wasn't producing a spark when grounded to the head, tried another plug and still nothing.

    Any ideas what I can look next?

  2. I have a set (purchased from Haven Trial) fitted to my bike, but cant really comment on how good they are as I have no comparison.

    I fitted them to my bike (1st bike) straight away, so its all I've ever known.

    Would love someone to tell me they are **** so I can blame something else for my poor riding :lol:

  3. Need a bit of advice please chaps...................

    2008 Pro 200

    Not used my bike since last November and got it out for a play the other day and it was overheating, I noticed that the fan wasn't going round unless I gave it a little push. So back in the garage I took tank off to test the fan as described in other posts on here, it was then that I noticed these two wires connected through, its an orange and black wire in a crimp, & from what I can figure out with my little knowledge having looked at wiring diagrams it appears to be the "switch to control ignition advance curve"

    My question is, what is an ignition advance curve & should this be bypassed in this way or has by bike been bodged up by a previous owner?

    Also, when the fan is connected direct to a 12v source it still needs a little push to get it going, would I be correct in thinking its knackered?

    Was hoping to get out this Sunday for a blast and really want to try & get this sorted before then so any help greatly appreciated :thumbup:

  4. You know it's amazing how many people ignore the kids on OSET's and Mecatechno's. That area where the bikes are reasonably priced and even Single Mum's can get there kids out has grown a lot over the last five years. The Stick in the Muds who only look at Adult riders have to remember who are the next generation. The main makers of bikes ignore those kids at their peril. For years they only supplied what are to be honest pretty crappy and under developed Autos. When Beta actually produced the REV50 we suddenly had a replacement for the TY80! We joined up at the time and I had hell on to find a bike for my lad to actually compete on and then there they were!!! The Kids could not ride Trials because many clubs ignore them. At the time Yorkshire Centre clubs were trying hard to get more Small Wheelers and they still do. It's a shame many of the "old stagers" on here still don't seem to have any idea about them.

    Oset's are definitley the way to go when attracting the next generation, I've only been riding myself a few months and in that time the only people that I meet when out riding are other riders that already know all about trials etc & not really anyone that might be interested in taking up the sport, however every single time ive taken my lad over the park on his oset there are always other kids & parents interested in it and have questions to ask, a few have even said they will look into it at xmas etc etc

    They all look a bit shocked when they ask the price though so I'm not expecting a park full of Oset's on boxing day :madnoel:

  5. My advice for what it's worth.......

    I bought a 2006 beta rev 3 270 for my first bike and it was a real handfull, tiny bit of throttle and it just wanted to go. After riding 3 times I decided that I loved trials but wasn't keen on my bike so went out and purchased a 2008 gas gas txt pro 200 (which I'm lead to believe us actualy a 175 but called a 200???) , only been out once on it but wow what a difference it made, it still had the power to take me up the steepest of hills with very little effort and left me thinking that the bike still has loads more to give when I get more confident. The biggest difference is the weight a agility, not sure how much is to do with engine size or manufacture etc but the 200 is soooo much easier to ride, I can now get the back wheel up and flick it round a bit, pop a wheelie for a few meters etc etc (not a big deal compared to some but I was quite chuffed lol)

    My advice is get a 200 or 125, it will be plenty!

    Most important thing is get a bike and ride, your gonna love it :-)

  6. This is getting beyond a joke now. I have some stuff for sale on a 4x4 website, some clown who is a long standing forum member sent me a PM saying what he wanted, we agreed a price and I sent him my PayPal address (which is obviously my email address). Minutes later I get a "PayPal" email from HIS address telling me to follow a link and enter my password to receive payment!!! the dozy ******* sent me his postal address in a PM too, so once I've reported him to PayPal and the forum admin I'm going to s**t in a jiffy bag and send him that, with his so called PayPal recipt! That'll teach him. Lol. I know it's not the same as your situation and I feel for you and hope you get it sorted.

  7. Quick update..............

    Got fed up of waiting for Tor Moto to get back to me with vin so spoke to Haven Trialsports and they confirmed supplying the bike and who they supplied it to (original owner who he knows personaly), Ive also spoke to the person who purchased it off the original owner and adventualy sold it to Tor moto and he confirmed that he had it powder coated to tidy it up and then rubbed it down so you could read the vin (which didnt work)

    So the owner trail all seems to stack up and it looks like I was worrying about nothing, however I think you can never be too carefull when it comes to these sort of things

    And on a positive note the fella at Haven was a complete star, really helpfull and full of advice on everything gas gas, he is going to find out the vin num for me from the original paperwork and then confirm it with my engine number, a complete breath of fresh air after dealing with that a**e @ Tor Moto Ltd

  8. The dealer (Tor Moto ltd) was 2.5 hours away so didnt want to go back there and find out he wasnt there so I called him and to be honest he was a complete a***!

    To say he was rude would be an understatement, he kept shouting over me, told me to shut up, then put the phone down on me :angry:

    He reckons that the frame was re coated by the previous owner as it was scratched and then only lightly filed to make the number visable, he told me the number that he had recorded for this bike which i checked straight away and it was invalid, he then told me that he knew the previous owner and that he was legit, apparantly the previous owner got it from haventrailsports who should have the registered vin, all this could be possible and he is supposed to be finding out the vin and then letting me know. He also told me to get it checked out by the police and they would comfirm its legit.

    I called the police and they were less than usefull, after speaking to 4 people I was told to get a form from the post office and do it through the dvla, TBH I think they were just fobbing me off, lets see how dismissive they are if the pull me over one day and find a bike with no vin in the back of the van.........I'm pretty sure they would show alot more interest in it then!

    I'm now waiting for the correct vin (if he comes up with it) and will see if it resembles the partialy readable ano on the bike

    To top things off, when I got there the other day and called him he said he would be out in 5 min, he operates from a warehouse with no signage so I couldnt just walk in. When he adventualy came out and took me through I thought it was a bit strange he made me wait outside but maybe he was on hte phone or taking a **** etc etc so didnt read too much into it. I now know why though as he was obviously pumping up the tyre on it as by the time I got the bike back home (2.5 hours) it was completely flat.

    When I confronted him about this on the phone he denied pumping it up and said that its common for trials tyres to go flat :wall:

    Basicly if I can offer one piece of advise it would be DO NOT DEAL WITH TOR MOTO LTD IN BRIGHOUSE LEEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Yeah it seems dodgy to me also, I'm going to contact him first thing tomorrow and see what he says.

    It's an 08 gas gas so the frame should be black, but is only filed down where the vin num is, don't think it's been painted or coated but did wonder if this is the done thing on a black frame to make the num more visible, if this is the case I have nothing to worry about but seems to me that it filed too much and you can't make out the num clearly

    Could do with someone checking their black frame (pref gas gas) and telling me if their vin is in black or if it's in a patch where the paint has been removed.

  11. I have just purchased a bike from a dealer (which I will refrain from disclosing who for now) and stupidly didn't look at the vin on the frame till I got it home, now I know this is totaly stupid and I'm kicking myself now as I should & do know better.

    Anyway the problem is the vin is hardly visible and looks like its been filed off!!!

    The frame is black but the patch where the vin number is now silver metal but not a tidy square and looks dodgy.

    Has anyone else got a black frame? And is the vin num in black or a silver patch?

    There was no v5 as I was told its never been road registered.

  12. I'm thinking of giving this a go, on a scale of 1 - 10 with how hard is this to do? (1 being the easiest)

    I have no previous experience of engines/gearboxes however i'm quite methodical when it comes to fixing stuff, will i get it into a thousand pieces and regret starting it?

    Is there anywhere in the midlands that I can pay to get this done? I would like to do it myself but I get very little spare time and would prefer to be riding than in the garage
