  1. And here is the beastie!
  2. all done; i'll post it in the morning.
  3. Totty - I have a post somewhere in this thread about cutting out the stiffeners from the underside of the rear fender ................... it makes them unbreakable.............
  4. Ted - those levers look very nice ................ can I ask how much? Hope that you are having/had a good trial.
  5. when i got my 2005 txt it was hanging down ................. I hung it up by the petrol tank with a downward bend in it (via cable ties)to make sure that it could breathe but not suck up water ( a cooling gearbox/pipe will suck water back up the breather pipe - common problem on enduro bikes)
  6. Mine is in the shed somewhere; if I can find it (should do) i will trace round it for you. but it will be over the weekend............. snd me your address and I'll post it out (don't worry about postage)
  7. I have no pictures of this bike yet, but I will take some and post them up (probably at the weekend).................

    Lovely Bike!

evening/morning all, finallyfinallyfinally I have bonded with the TY! It happened on Saturday at RTC practice track. All of the piston/leb/clutch/swing arm shimming/wheel bearing/chain slider/carb rebuilding/etc/etc trauma has paled into insignificance. It just all 'clicked' and I now love riding this bike - talk about slow burn! A big up for the other members of the RTC, namely - boghopper, benboss and alex-de-beta for the ongoing support/p*ss taking
  9. Ted - let us know what bendy levers you get and what you think of them - I am thinking of getting some too, althougfh I do like to run with loose levers so they dont break in a fall.....................
  10. Today, I changed the oil on my gasser and used castrol power 1 10w 30 - as advised by the castrol tech people. At first (when the oil was cold) it was a wee bit draggy, but once warm, clutch feel was better (less 'snatchy') and even easier than p*******e light gear oil for getting neutral. Also, thought my front wheel bearing/s was goosed ............ but I popped them out, cleaned them and used a syringe to pump them full of nice new grease (the waterproof outboard motor type grease)...... No more play. Then I took my road bike out for a play in the sun (although this was after putting another L.E.B in my TY 175 and it still rattles like a bar steward ..................... 'they all do that' everyone tells me......... not sure I can live with that level of noise in a bike. my venture into twinshock trials might be very short lived)
  11. Thanks Ted! - also; It makes me wonder why there hasn't been more of the same; 'what did you do to your bultaco etc etc etc today' - its a good way of sharing ideas!
  12. Thanks Jimmie, I think that it is all about time on the bike. going by the hour meter that I have put on the bike, I have done 33 hrs practice time since january and it has helped me a lot with getting to grips with trials riding. mrs shipdamite - who came to spectate - said that one guy said that he didnt click with it till he had done 12 or so events; so this made me feel kind of ok about progress being made. since january, aside from time on the bike, i think that a bar rise of 18mm (as shown earlier in this thread) was the biggest 'eureka' moment for me.............. made turning so much easier, while the change in gearing (from 10 42 to 11 48 [same as 10 45 ish]) has helped too.............. 2nd will do everything in section. the bike is still clarted in peaty type clay, but will get a clean on friday...................... although i did clean the chain and brakes and lube the chain. next on the agenda is to get the tyasaurus fit for some twinshock adventure/s best andrew
  13. p.s - I would post a pic of the clarted bike, but I fear that it might send ShyTed tacicardic ;-]
  14. yesterday, my gas gas and I did our 2nd trial! my clears were into double figures and the sun was out; big grins all round : - ]
  15. yes. between sections on sunday, same with my 2005 250 pro. probably also down to the shock of those gears not being used much too ;-]
  16. Cheers for the linky Tog. The bore is at max overbore, will try and find another barrel before using a yam piston; also not entirely sure that yam made them to the max overbore (although I havent checked this yet) getting a new L.E.B on weekend, so this will help in the meantime, as will some damping. Thanks, Andrew
  17. Ted - good work! bet that you are still cleaning it!
  18. the prompt people at gas gas uk had the 11t front in the post to me for today. fitted that and for me the gearing is spot on. 11 48 is more-or-less 10 45 by my reckoning, so Blocky was good with his suggestion of 10 44 ................ .............. the 10t front sprocket was goosed, so it needed renewing anyway..... I like the idea of bigger front sprocket; less wear on that and the chain slider. cheers.
  19. Hi Ted - hope the trial went ok and looking forward to seeing a shot of the dirty bike (if your lad is into forensics, he must have got that from you, looking at the overall cleanliness of your gasser.......;- ] ..... )
  20. and the shed revealed an unused 520 chain from a ktm road kit that was gathering dust. So, it seemed rude not to fit it and have a burble around the back yard. I have to admit .................... I quite like it ........ slow slow slow stuff is good with minimal clutching. when the 11t front turns up, I will fit that and see what that is like too.
  21. Full of horror stories ringing in my ears i phoned the nice people up at gas gas uk today and ordered an 11t front sprocket. On arriving home tonight, yesterdays order was sitting in the post ..........................
  22. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/43487-more-power/ 9 48 !!
  23. so, without googling it, I recall that 1 tooth off the front is like adding 2 or 2 1/2 to the rear? so 9 42 is same/similar as 10 44/45? 10 48 does sound overkill ................... but it might mean that 1st gear gets a break as its on order, I'll give it a go and let you know how it worked out .............. ................ question has to be asked though.......... why do gas gas make a sprocket that size if its too big to use?
  24. Hello Blocky - yep; 2nd trial time.................... going to try the gearing before sunday......... then probably go back to 10 42 before the trial if its too much; I will need all the help I can get .................. lets hope that the suns out.
