dont go by train...use dfds dover to dunkirk. 60 quid return if you book early. You have 40 mins less to drive in fance...good food and a 120 min break...
Ther are two series here in germany. D-Cup---the Deutsche Cup and the Sued Klassik. Most are two days. A good one would be 21/22 in Hergenroth...D-Cup...its about 60 miles past Cologne. Then one week later in Bilstein...aslo two days...probably. Bilstain is on tzhe way back and its in Belgien, very close to the German border at Aachen.
regarding the fitting of a Beta Rev3 kickstart, does anybody know what modification is needed ? thanks.
It fits the splines no problem. Needs a threaded rod TIG welded to the end of the KS shaft and the knuckel needs modding slightly to clear. Not cheap though.....
Ok here's the skinny as our American buddies would say. Bike cut out at a trial went totaly dead.
Eventually fired back up again ( no misfireing or iratic running ) rode another section bike died
again. Once home tested for a spark nothing. Fitted new coil ( Ducati type ), new source coil,
new spark plug, new ht lead, new plug cap. Still no spark so we're running out of options. The only
thing I think it might be is the pick up but I've been told they are not available any more. As far
as I'm aware I've wired everything up correctly ( checked it numerous times ). Also I've tried it
with the kill button disconected, still zilch!
Any ideas anyone.
Check the green wire from the trigger coil. For some reason the isolation falls off. Also chech resistance. Should be 40-60 ohms. They can be rewound. 85 quid at bill pye
so it wasnt the ignition or it wasnt done properly.
Both the source and trigger coils can be rewound. Fit a ducati HT coil from steve goode and off you go. It it still IS a problem, mabe thhe flywheel magnets are old? I have never seen this but it could be. What exactly is the problem?
a<ftermarket ignitions are available for the forward kicks but not the minarelli.
They are like fitting weber carby to a GTI though...
Thinking of getting a fantic pro TS, but am a little concerned by the frame issues they seemed to have, so any thoughts on questions below appreciated.
Is it a given that the frame on the 125/240/300 pro models will give at the head tube area at some stage,or is it dependent on whether the bike has had a hard life?
Were later "pro frames" modified to stop this happening and if so does anyone know how to tell a later modified frame from one of the early ones.
thanks
I know from dr agrati that fantic made 24,000 odd pro frames, either 125', 200 or 240. The first 5000 were single tube design. If you get a fantic without cracks at the headstock webbing, you are unlikely ti crack it in todays level. Even the miller rounds. Most however will be cracked even if to a lesser extent. This is an easy fix. More difficult but still repairable are smashed bottom tubes. I have changed both tubes on one frame and it also turned out to be very relable. The fantic really does over no worries so your concerns can be covered
I did the Christmas trial here close to Heidelberg. All went oki until I thew the fantic at at tree. The white 4rt front mudguard broke up. Not that they areb cheap but a repsol sticker is about the same again. Got bruises all over... and it were right cold all day. Better than a good day at work...
I bought a 97 gas gas JTX 270 about 2 months ago and have done roughly 2 tank full before the bike struggled to idle without a little reving. I took the bike to my local specialist and he stripped most of it down and cleaned it and that still didn't solve the problem. I changed the carb today for a good second hand carb with throttle etc full cleaned and stripped and fresh tank of 70:1 mix. The bike started first kick but the idle was all over so I have adjusted the fuel screw to 3-3.5 tuns out from fully in and tried to adjust the idle screw to suit. The bike idled well for short while and then the fan kicked in for a few mins then a little water via the cap run off and now it won't start at all.
The carb is full of fuel, I have compression on the kick start, and I have a spark at the plug but not sure how strong it should be?
The seller told me that it is no ex army bike, but as I know all "WD" are sold as army bikes, I cannot found informations about a normal B4 version build 1968....
