  1. Now that is a quality cape! The armada is stage left in full sail
  2. Just got some gaerne balance oiled. They are 44.5 which they call a US 10. They are a bit loose with athletic cotton tube socks--1 pair. Hate to send them back but....well how tight do you guys like your boots? Thanks guys
  3. Always wondered why the fender is just over the wheel, instead of MX style. Visability?
  4. TY guys. Yeah I am really wondering how high to go. The price goes up as get taller, hehe 15 us up to 15mm 30 us to go to 20 45 us to go to 39 advice appreciated
  5. Of course in this shot I'm not wearing my heels
  6. Well.....no, but I think it would be more comfortable. How tall are you? Thanks for the pin advice
  7. Hi guys. I'm 6'1" I do want to raise my bars. My options are in mm 5 10 15 19.5 38 Thought I would keep the stock bars, but open to suggestion. Any tips on reaching the allenhead which is tucked under the hinge? someone really likes the little GG
  8. thank you farmerJ What do all you guys think for a bar rise? .4 inches/10 mm or .75 inches/19mm I'm 6'1" tall
  9. Incredible shots! What beautiful machines.....
  10. Damn, another good suggestion!!!! I am about to order a bunch from adrian, and I'm gonna bring that up! My list so far: pipe and fork guards Spark Aresstor Bar lifts Low tire pressure gauge CHAIN CAMS and I'm on the list for the big tank and seat. thank you motomickey!!!
  11. In 76 or 77 I saw Bernie ride in a trials near Auburn, Calif. I rode a bit with the Galbreath Brothers (I was living in Davis) up at donner. Had a RL 250 Exacta, and they had Hondas. I had a chance to buy one of them for 450.00---they had lots of trick bits on them. Always regreted not having done so. Just having got my new trials competition newsletter, I was astonished to see photos of and by Howard Galbreath. Re the trials tire as enduro. Of course my KTM is 19in in the back, but I have toyed with the idea of lacing up a tubless 18" rim--with disc and sprocket for use on the KTM. Expensive proposition though. First I need a stator, lights and a big tank for it, hehe. From our last real ride this October
  12. Great replies. Snow is here till March anyway, so me bud will probably make the plung at that time. That Portand bike does look clean! The real key, I'm thinkin, is to get one that has been babied like that. Lots of reports about the 315 Cota being rock solid. Also seems like you can get a bigger tank and seat for that bike, which we will need. Thanks so much Guys
  13. More awesome and very appreciated replies. Makes me want to take the thing out in the snow right now! I have a bunch of trials DVDs and what I think is really gonna help me is this Ryan Young Training DVD I just got which is very extensive on technique. Have also subscribed to Trials Comp newsletter. So I hope when you guys come to visit I won't be a complete anchor.... I'm dead serious about visiting, lots of room at the house. Biggest issue would be getting something to ride out here. But with notice you might even be able to rent something, trials or enduro in Boise and bring it over. As far as wide open long riding: I'm not a huge "revver". Hopefully with frequent oil changes, the pro will handle some extended jaunts, with a bit of babying. Gearset is tall enough, our trail speed is seldom over 30mph. I did put the 10 tooth front sprocket on, but now I will have to take a link out of the chain. I am running GM autotrak II per recomendations, but the clutch does seem to like to drag a bit just around the yard. You know you pull it in but the bike will still creep. I have never run it more than about 10 minutes and it's cold out, so it could be the temp, but I do hear others comment on this. Is this just normal or should I adjust the clutch? All the best, and one more shot: note forrest fire on right
  14. great info joe. thanks so much for taking the time to post
  15. My buddy has about 3000 US to spend. I know used machines are always a gamble and there are lots of variables. But which machines have proven most bulletproof and effective from 1994 on? Thanks sirs
  16. That Adrian is very nice. He has me on the list. I will give him till Feb to import the tank and seat, and then I'll call italy and have them sent out. My pack is for water, clothes, lunch, and my ipod...not for fuel bottles, and the hebo t-clamp tank will ruin the looks.... PM me in the spring Farmer, here or at TT or KTM talk.
  17. Awesome info. This is a very high end resort area, so of course there is fancy lodging etc. Teardown single family house in Ketchum is now 1.2 mil. go here and you get an idea: Sun Valley and here more Sun Valley Ketchum is the town at the base of the ski mountain. But anyone from this site is welcome to stay at my house for riding. This shot is one mile from the house: Extensive trail system....basically from here you can single track to canada. In a car on the highway, Canada is about 12 hours to the north. Within a 50 mile radius there is over 1000 miles of legal backcountry trails. Thank you boys so much for the great replies. charliechitlins: espcially helpfull. The Bike came with a wonderfull DVD made in the USA in which they go through everthing; split the cases, grease the dog legs; really makes up for the silly GG user manual. Here is the harem: and R2W trials thank you for that link, I will check out whether that applies to my bike. I don't have turn signals, it may be that US destined bikes are diff, but I will see for sure. Very helpfull. Maybe someday I can visit you guys!
  18. Hehe, luckily the fornt wheel was installed already. Took me 30 minutes to figure out how to get the springs on the foot pegs properly. God you gotta love that big ol radial on the back! I put 400cc of GM autotrack 2 in the tranny and my breakin mix is about 55:1. Does that sound right? Can I ride it bit before I grease the stem and swing arm, or should I do that imediately? What grease do you recomend? It also came with an extra front sprocket 10 tooth, I think it has an 11 on now. Man, a 10 woould really let it putt...... Dropped tire pressure to 5 lbs front and rear: do you run the same in both? I love the thing.....thank god there is a forum like this to help me use it!
  19. lots of work, but high cost of living. tonite...... 3 hrs later....
  20. Coming in 2008: the 125cc Mao Mao the machine will be distributed under exclusive worldwide contract by WalMart athletes are curremtly being recruited from the ranks of chinese acrobats The Chinese National series will feature modified scoring with marks reduced for feats like carrying a lighted candle or a glass of Chinese Champangne successfully through a section. The series will be broadcast live on SkyTV
  21. It's funny how riders tactics seem to change dramatically once the magic "3" is reached. The feet starting coming down all over the place. But at "2" the epic struggle to ride clean continues. Makes you wonder if the system might be revised to discourage the "centipede" mode. For example, you could make the magic number "5", and the current 5 could become "8" or "10". Blasphemy? In some of the online interviews on this site there is talk of a no-stop rule being re-introduced on WTC outdoor, is this true? Thanks for explaining all this stuff guys
  22. the new KTM today two hours later.....
  23. you guys are so cool worth it to get back into trials just for a forum like this. I have lots of questions and I will put up some more pics soon. My new enduro to be KTM 250SXF arrived today and I broke it in. It is a real maserati....jeez. I love it. Hope it doesn't blow up, hehe. The build quality is outrageous. There is snow on the ground here, but we do have a winter riding area that is quite good about 1.6 hours to the southwest. Lots of loamy stuff just above the snake river. So I have to get up early and drive back there tomarrow and see if I can make something go wrong with the little austrian beast before the 30 warranty runs out. How do afford all these bikes? I own stock in haliburton, hehe. Not really. KTM has a deal here: no payments no interest till july 06. I will sell the trusty yammi and save the rest. Bought the gas gas in leui of a sunny vacation. Now I just have to stay healty. You are all welcome to visit any time...seriously. all the best. PS grappling hook? hehe, We actually were going the opposite direction on that little traverse, after 3 hours battling willows, boulders and cow****e. It was dusk and the truck was a LONG way away. We were so relived to get out of the creek that the traverse seemed like a freeway, but I was...well quite focused. The side hill was soft soft at least we were unlikely to be hurt, but the bikes were going to the lake for sure. I was trying to think if I knew any scuba divers....Made it to the truck at midnight, climbing a big pass with my battery powered HID helmut light...my bud had to make due with a forest service headlamp. Here we are looking accross from the other side of the lake and you can see the long creek we desceneded from the high ridge in the background. The truck is about 35 miles away. 12 hour ride. OK OK 2 quick questions: I have BelRay H1R Synthectic 2-stroke oil: what should be my mixture during break in on the pro? I have Torco MTF-L Light viscostiy syn-blend 2-stroke transmission oil (75w) API GL-4: is this OK to start with in the tranny? TY guys
  24. I live in Ketchum, Idaho which is single track heaven, near the ski resort of Sun Valley (where I've taught skiing for 22 years) Last few years I've been all over the place on my 04 YZ250F. We have gads of highly technical single track which tend to leave my YZF stinking, hehe. This year I am upgrading to a KTM 250SXF, and the thing was backordered forever driving me mad. Having read all there was to read on every forum, etc on the KTM, I began to get bored. Now back in 1976, I was recovering from a very nasty crash on my RM250, and bought a RL250 exacta, which I rode quite a bit and even competed on. So I started looking at trials bikes.........alot. In a truly american fit of impetuosity, on a par with invading some country I knew nothing about, I ordered a 06 300pro. It arrives tuesday. As I now read on this forum, it may not have been the best choice, hehe. But it is a done deal. Many of the places I want to take it to are well......out there. Way out there. DOn't get me wrong, this is not a replacement for the SXF, it arrived today out of the blue!!!! But I do want to take the GG out into the nastier wilderness trails. We are talking very rocky single track, so rough it is unpleasant on an enduro machine. Of course I have been watching the duluth videos and want to learn to hop, zap and splatt, as much a middle age man can. Now I read that I better be damn careful shifting or I will break this little beast. I am commited at this point and will import a new large tank and seat for the thing. But I'm hearing the GG is not particularly fond of long rides. What can I do to make it last? a taste of idaho....
  25. This is such a good point. I live in the mountains of idaho and the best terrian will involve riding: i mean serious 3500ft climbs to get there. For my new GG 300 pro, lewissport has a picture of a tank and seat which they believe are available in france and are trying to get: http://www.lewisportusa.com/gas_tanks.htm anyone seen this setup and know the source of manufacture?
