  1. My advice for your first trial is ask and watch other riders , keep an eye on what lines they take You'll probably drop most marks on going the wrong way ( I still do ) And most of all have fun and enjoy

You can get a stadard cota for £5500

How much has the new montesa increased by ? Not much by the look of it £5500 for the 2017 makes them now look cheap
  4. toneh replied to jasehibbs's topic in Montesa
No just run of the mill 1050
  5. toneh replied to jasehibbs's topic in Montesa
Oh and you don't actually need to remove the top bracket Just a bit too much haste with the grinder Doh
  6. toneh replied to jasehibbs's topic in Montesa
Would have liked to get the top bracket welded on a bit neater but I dropped a clanger and forgot to remove the anodising And got some porosity in it Couldn't be bothered to grind it out and start again But to be honest I've seen some named tanks where the welding is nothing to shout home about

Yes 1.2 mm , I rolled the whole top to get the basic curve , and we have got some tiny rollers at work so I just pinched the sides and bent them over Then spent a fair while tapping it round the edges to get a nice fit for welding It is actually a compound curve but not worth stretching because aluminium that thickness is easy to manipulate by hand

It's lighter than standard , looks far better than standard in my opinion And regards fuel capacity the loss is minimal I fill up no more than anyone else and certainly less than my old 300 gas gas And if I do a trial with any distance id put my auxiliary hebo tank on And best of all it was free
  9. toneh replied to jasehibbs's topic in Montesa
Im a welder fabricator by trade so cost me nothing otherwise I wouldn't have bothered
  10. toneh replied to jasehibbs's topic in Montesa
Yes I have , I used 1,2 was gonna go thinner but wanted little more strength
  11. New boots arrived today and I'd say it's not looking good already , waxing them to give a little more protection prior to use you can see a big difference between the two boots one has wrinkles underneath the top layer and the other is as smooth as Will wear this pair now and see how it goes long term But I don't think I'll be buying them again
  12. What on earth are you talking about I ask you kindly please don't post on my thread, unless it's topic related or of some use for future reference All silly posts like that do is drag subjects off topic Thank you
  13. Yes it was to make a point , and a valid point I repeat again because you obviously have difficulty in reading It's not acceptable to pay a couple of hundred quid for boots that have to be sent round the world while you sit and wait ( when it's not your fault ) Like I said ive got a few pairs of boots But there's been a time I haven't And deffo that lots of newcomers won't have I know it's not an issue for you because youd wear wellies Suppose your the same type of guy that would be clogging up a&e by wearing the correct gear ( wellies ) for riding a motorcycle Turnip !!!!
  14. I'm not betting , because I think they'll probably be the same as well No not pressure washed , I noticed they went like that during the trial And it looks like getting them wet isn't the issue I've had a pm Where a couple of pair have done it when dry And it all usually seems on one boot only If the new pair go the same I'm just gonna wear them and see what happens Can't be doing with keep messing about with them
  15. Update , received a call today They're going to send a new pair of boots and collect my old boots to my place of work via courier That's more like it
