  1. They are a pig to start, very hit and miss, I'm thinking of selling my 2022 as my right knee is a bit loose and the constant kicking and sudden stop on the foot peg is not good, I find if I can lean it against a tree and stand high in the pegs it starts easy, Obviously not easy stalled in an offcamber muddy hill, I might go TRS lecky start

  2. I just changed from a '20repsol to a '22 GG TXT 250Pro.

I did 60hr in the Repsol, couldn't really adapt to it, great bike but the switch to 2/ has been a correct choice. If you look after any bike it will be reliable, depreciation... Thanks a different story

  3. So I thought I'd say how it went, firstly I'm not a good rider, balance is not my friend.

I like a soft engine.so fitted a flywheel weight, the engine had had a few heat cycles and an hour playing around the front of the house.

Firstly it's a bugger to start.....

I hope it'll.get better once it's got a few hours on it.

I also have a number 3 slide and a different pilot jet waiting.to.go in once it's really bedded in.

Overall I really like it, feels stable.and steering is predictable, it doesn't want to tuck like the Beta I had.

Engine feels good, strong but a nice predicable power curve.

Brakes are good seemingly the same as fitted to the repsol but the Repsol seem better, I wonder if braktec do different levels of quality? But again only a couple of hours on them so may improve.

Overall happy with the change of bike

  4. I think it pretty dumb to run any engine in old oil. Yes it's expensive, £10a go?2 pints of beer?? The oil breaks down and loses its protective ability not to mention circulation all the debris it might hold in suspension. On a £7k retail price bike.

    I swapped oil every 16hrs, filter 32hrs

  5. I always inspect the fibres on every bike and usually do the clutch beta fix first, that usually smoothes it all out , the dimple steels just allow less suction, beta fix does the same and filing the tangs down aids smooth travel if the fibre plates, free to do

  6. Can you recommend some for the showa forks, I don't think AllBalls have the quality and SKF are £60 a pair, is there a brand you're using that are good quality but not SKF £££

  7. Had a little play outside the house today, about 40 minutes to see if the bike has any issues, I took the advice and ride around with the brakes lightly applied then poured cold water on, and now I have usable decent brakes, a new throttle cable is on order as it's a bit kinked and I can't get any slack at the bars. Engine is nice, soft and should be good in the mud where the Repsol stuffers. Starts first kick.

There's some clutch drag even when warm so I'll swap the oil, what are people recommendations? 520 MLS?

I have a non expert trial next Sunday to give it a proper run.

  8. I got it today,

Brakes are very weak dispite oversized front master cylinder assembly so gotta investigate that, took front pads out and the retaining Pin's are fully threaded screws, I would think that won't help with smooth pad movement... I would expect thread at the end and the main body of the pins to be smooth bore

On the plus the engine started 1st kick and idle smooth, no rattles as was told it has had a piston/crank bearings etc, gearbox also very slick, no slack on dog legs and headrace bearing so again good, all wheel bearings smooth, but it should be as I was promised it wants for nothing S3 titanium pipe is pretty.

A quick play out the front of the house and it feels nice.

I have a good feeling about it apart from the weak brakes F&R.

And it's an 02 not an 03 as stated. Would I have bought it if looking at it??? I'd have knocked for the front brake could be oil contamination?/ Pads were a bit glazed

But yes for a 20 yr old bike it's pretty good not immaculate and is pretty clean and it's a montesa so I'm always happy about that.

  9. Thanks for the reply, I first had a dabble with trials about 2008 and it lasted like most people about 5 minutes as it's a lot harder than it looks and I was riding enduro,

I bought a beta 250 4t and casually rode it for about 5 years then got more into the sport and bought a new 2020 repsol.

I guess I fancy a 2t as well. And I don't really like the beta 2t having ridden a few, and  thought about the other brands but they all.seem.to have their issues, ideally a new 2t but a GasGas 250 is about £5700, and others are well over £6+k

I see the 315 at local event's and I thought a classic might sorta hold its value as I'd take it out now and again, if I could find a good local 250 I'd look at it regardless of brand.i guess I think the build quality of the 315 will , with maintenance stay together better than a similar aged different brand.
