  1. Big thanks to you all for the advice on here, what a great forum. O rings on their way and a tin of Heldite; couldn't find any rim tape without valve so ordered one and ready to face the challenge. Thanks guys.
  2. Is the rim tape the same for tubeless and tubed wheels, or is one sticky?
  3. I see Heldite doesn't come cheap. Do you think any gasket sealant would do?
  4. Hi All, I have a 2003 Edition that's showing her age and I'm finding it difficult to find parts, plus I live in France, so it's also a question of vocabulary. I'm currently looking for the two o rings that sit inside the exhaust muffler as it is blowing there between the muffler and box. Plus I have a tubeless rear tyre which is new but still leaking air from two of the spokes so want to replace the tape that sits inside but where to find this? Tried all my local shops but nothing and searched on line. Any suggestions please?
  5. How do I find out what fluid to use in the clutch of my 2003 Edition, the lid on the reservoir has been changed for a blue one? Thanks.
  6. Very pleased I posted this question here, the replies and views are very encouraging and the right way forward. Thanks, guys.
  7. All good replies, thanks. Doing something together is very much part of this. He's not doing well at school, lack of interest more than anything and hoping this can find common ground instead of me pushing him all the time. His idea to do trials. We'll start looking with the above in mind.
  8. Any suggestions as to what to buy my 13 yr old lad who would like to start riding and getting into trials? Thanks.
  9. Just bought a Renault Trafic, H1L1. It has a wooden floor but that's all. Any suggestions how I go fitting it out, which I've never done before, so that I have have some secure storage. Photos would be ace. Thanks.
  10. Thanks oni nou for all your time on this. I've tried to contact Braktech all morning but no response and have now spoken to Trials and Tribulations, expensive on delivery but they have the parts so I've ordered. Cheers.
  11. I contacted Braketech who said Thank you for the inquiry Kevin Sorry to advise we do not offer OE replacement components for your GasGas...Ferodo brake pads only. Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.
  12. Reply from dherbeymoto - Unfortunately this kit is no longer available at GasGas for several years now, there is no solution, sorry. The only solution is to put the GasGas caliper replacement kit but the price is high.
  13. Thank you. I'd tried a couple of sites in the UK but they wanted more than the cost of the parts in postage and my local shops for trials parts came up with no suggestions. I found this site by chance when I first bought the bike and knew little about maintaining the bike, not that I know that much now.
  14. Thanks, arnoux. Do you order directly from Gas Gas, do you have a link, please? I live in France and need someone who delivers.
  15. Thanks for the advice. Going to strip them down and see what's needed.
  16. Thanks, Huski. Bike is new to me and the rear brake was not working well. When I took out the pads they looked wet and I had a suspicion there was a leak. Do you think I have to replace the calliper or can I replace the seal? I'll check out your recommendation. Thanks.
  17. Thanks for replying lineaway. It is a Hebo. Is that worldwide not available? What's the replacement?
  18. Hi All I have a 2003 Edition and in the middle of changing the brake pads on the rear brake. I was easing the pistons out to clean and noticed on one piston, a small amount of liquid, I'm assuming brake fluid, leaks out of the side of the piston in the form of a small bubble. I'm guessing a seal somewhere has gone? Would really appreciate some guidance on what I do now. Thanks.
  19. Metiisse, you star! I've been looking for a club and somewhere to ride, thanks.
  20. Hi contiki I'd always wanted to go on a dirt bike trip and, like you, that was fuelled by the Long Way Round. Kazakhstan was truly excellent and will be a great memory. A bit of a steep learning curve but has also given me the bug and I'm going to look for more adventures. I think getting the Fantic right will be a steep learning curve!

    Clutch And Air

Hi, I've bought a 1997 Fantic 250 (249) and I have air in the hydraulic clutch, I can see it in the transparent tube. I can't find anywhere to bleed it, nothing at the master cylinder and the tube goes down to the casing and there's nothing there either. Can anyone help with how you bleed the system, please? I've also got to find where the air is getting in and the master cylinder and especially the seals on the piston seem in good order. Thanks.
  22. Greetings All, I'm a Brit living in France near to Niort in the Deux Sevres (not far from La Rochelle). I've been away from biking for 25 years, as you do, and got back into this year with a BMW 1150RT and a Yamaha WR250F. I've just come back from a dirt ride adventure around Kazakhstan, which was awesome. I used to have a Fantic 200 and did some competition but wasn't any good - I once got my bike stuck high up in a tree! Lured by the name again, I bought a 1997 Fantic 250, which has turned out to be tired and used and costing to get it running properly but I am learning more about mechanics which is what I wanted. So, I am hoping for some advice and company on here. Cheers. Kev.
