  1. carb was all clear and no blockages. there isn't an air leak around the carb checked when running with spray.

I was reading after the last post about stator failing symptoms and got the figures off splats websites for this stator.

ive just been out and unplugged then dropped the meter on in diode setting. only 2 out of the 6 wires had a figure where they should be the rest were way off.

  2. woodruff key had sheared.

ive changed that, cleaned the carb, new air filter and plug.

bike starts fine now and ticks over fine but just off idle is acting strange. air mixture screw doesn't stop or improve the problem.

with a tiny amount of throttle then let go the bike carries on to slightly rev more but in a lumpy way not clean revving then doesn't come back down to idle quickly or cleanly aswell. after this point it revs cleanly off the throttle and comes back down clean until this point then acts strange until decides to tick over.

any ideas what to check or could be? thanks

  3. my mate has 07 shero 250 that wont start now. last time we was out riding he had a good fall and the bike fell revving wide open he quickly killed it and had to walk back to the van with a bit of an injury.

next time went to ride the bike wouldn't start not even firing at all. check the plug and has a good spark and fuels getting through. after a bit of kicking there was a big backfire and still no joy.

I am presuming its the woodruff key that's sheared so going to have a look at that for him. ie got the key and a flywheel puller coming tomorrow.

anything to be wary of or tips to do it easier? thanks

Sounds good dan....so tyre pressure doesnt depend on weight ?

No I wouldn't say so mate unless your a clumsy rider smashing into rocks instead of over them lol.

give it a try and I am positive you'll find the lower pressure a lot better especially this time of year and the rear.

Yep, there is a nut, sort of... The crankcase has threaded sleeves on both sides. That's were the bolt should go (through the aluminum triangle that holds the suspension rocker).

If you have the parts book (available on Vertigo site): page 17, part number 15.

Could be that the sleeve was forced out the crankcase by the loose bolt?

what needs removing to get access to the sleeve at the back mate?

  6. on my brothers ice hell we was checking over all the bolts etc and noticed the swingarm allen head bolt on the left is just spinning and doesn't get any tighter. the right hand side is tight.

is there a nut you cant see behind the tank or somewhere to hold whilst you tighten it?

    thanks

Trust me you wont make it unless you are in a 4x4 and its been lifted. Its a farmers track from the top. Being a local lad from that area I can say you could park carefully at the top crossroads and ride down though.

Is that on the opposite side of the venue or top end of the road? I think it should be ok up the normal road

It is a narrow single road.up to the Venue but you should be ok tight turn in to the parking area.I should try and get there early if possible not the largest parking area.

On google maps it looks like you can come down from the opposite way and theres no trees etc.

  10. theres a trial sunday at thurlestone quarry and I haven't rode there before. ive been trying to find out what the access is like to the venue but had no look.

on google maps the road up passed the houses from the bottom looks quite tight and narrow. is this the case or is it fairly wide?

the reason for asking my dads not got a cheap van yet for riding and as you will all know a lot of venues have terrible access. and I don't want him to drive up in his good van and not be able to get up there without any scratches.

    thanks
