  1. rij Have you checked that the air vent tube ( item 19 on the exploded diagram on the Apex Motorsport web site) has a split in it ? When I brought my first trials bike ( Montesa 315) and carried out some maintenance I noticed that this tube had a split in it...Foolishly I decided to " repair it "...However when I turned the fuel tap on petrol P*****d out everywhere !!!. Removed the "repair" and all was fine....Just a thought !!!!!

    Sy 250 2007

I would like some advise please. My 07 Scorpa has an intermittent running problem. The bike starts and runs fine most of the time but occasionally the engine dies. It sounds like it is a fuel starvation problem ie the bike revs increase, then it will either stall or if I'm lucky continue running if I rev it a bit. I have had the carb off and cleaned it thorougly, so i'm at a bit of a loss what to check next..Any ideas anyone ? Thanks
  3. Hi All. I would very grateful if anyone help me a slight problem with the headstock bearing on an 07 scorpa SY. Whenever I compress the forks with the front brake on I can feel and see a slight bit of movement at the top of the headstock. Is this easily fixed ?..I have never had to adjust headstock bearings before so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Weird Problem

Hi All.. I have a had a weird problem with my 2006 Rev 3..... I was riding in a Trial a couple of weeks ago and after the 14th section the bike started to vibrate and make a noise like the mains/bigend had gone.I pushed it back to the car park where I started it again and asked a few people what they thought the problem was and they said mains/bigend.!!! So today I took it to a reputable mechanic for him to take a look at...So I started it ( first kick as usual) and guess what no noise or vibration at all !!. Does anyone have any ideas ??Surely if it were mains/bigend it would be noticable all the time !!! Any thoughts /comments gratefully appreciated..

    General Advice

Hi All..I'm a Beta owner on the Sherco forum ..so be kind please.... I have currently own an 06 Rev 3 which since I have owned it has been a very reliable machine....Iam thinking of buying something a bit newer and would like your thoughts and experience on Sherco 250's from 07 onwards. ie are there any ongoing probs that well known to this model.. I have seen an 09 2t 250 Sherco on sale at a local dealers which they say was their demo bike. They want
  6. Trialsrfun Thanks for the advice and I shall leave te welding to a professional that knows what he is doing. Could you confirm how/where the coil/coils wires are located and if they are easy to access .. Thanks
  7. I have already spoken to Lampkins about it but he was'nt interested.....I don't know how crack manifested itself. It was'nt leaking when I brought it and I have never subjected the bike to the extreme abuse that you might think it has had. Personaly I think it is a weld fault, which for a 2006 bike is P*** poor !! KSV I think I have little hope of getting a new frame under warranty I don't think Beta UK do warranties !!! Oh well it looks like I will either have to live with it or find a welder that is willing to risk blowing himself up !! This will be my first and last Beta ..What with leaking carb probs, corroding water pumps and a cracked frame does,nt really feel me with confidence..
  8. Thanks for your replies...Trouble is you have scared me half to death !!!. Ok ..so if welding is not something that is recommended does anyone know of an alternative way to stop the leak. I have tried various liquid metals but they only last for half a Trial and then it starts leaking again. By the way the leak is coming from the weld next to the filler cap. Thanks
  9. Hi All Looking for a bit of advise here please. I have found a welder willing to weld the fuel tank part of my rev 3. ( for those of you worried about he safety aspect, apparently he will purge the tank with argon). Would you recommend that any or all of the electrics are disconnected prior to the welding to avoid electrical damage ?. I did speak to Lampkins ( he knows someone with a similar problem that regularly welds his frame ) and he says it is not necessary, providing any exposed components are physically protected.. What do you think ???

    Petrol Leak

Hi All Having tried various liquid metal repairs the leak still exists !!!. I have therefore decided to get the tank welded and would like your opinion on which electrics would need disconnecting to prevent them from being damaged during the welding process. Many thanks in advance.

    Carb Help

rlracer I did'nt go too far with the float adjustment, may be, as you suggested, I should fit a float bowl extension ?

    Carb Help

Hi All I have an 06 Rev 3 which in the main runs ok,however on long down hill sections I have to keep blipping the throttle to keep the engine running. I decided to adjust the float / tang height in accordance with the "Billy T" instructions found here on the Website. However when the bike is started and left to idle, the tickover is erratic as though it is hunting for fuel. I have sincwe restored the float tangs to the original position ie parallel to the carb body and the tickover is ok. Any ideas please ????

    Oil In Water ?

Thanks for you reply. Hope it all goes back together ok!!!.

    Oil In Water ?

Tiletrialer i'd really appreciate your view on how easy/difficult it is to change this casing. I would particularly like to know how the water impeller shaft/assembly comes apart when you remove the case. Thanks

    Oil In Water ?

Tiletrialer. The repair I made was to just fill in any corrosion with a liquid metal. On close inspection mine was a lot worse than I initially thought, especially around and behind the the impellor. Are you sure you have to remove the clutch in order to remove the casing ?. According to JLI he also advised to replace all oil seals and the water pump shaft seal as a matter of course. Regards

    Oil In Water ?

Tiletrialler. I still have not got arond to replacing the casing. The temporary repair i made seems to be holding ok at the mo. In your case, if it is just the sealing ring groove that is just corroded I would be inclined to leave well alone. If however, if like mine it has also corroded behind the impeller then i would change the case. When i enquired to JLI a few weeks ago he apparently had supply problems with the cases (he had a waiting list )....Probably due to popular demand !!
  17. The first trailer I brought was "home" engineered it was strong enough but it did'dnt tow well at all. I would advise getting a known brand such as Dave Cooper. I managed to get a 2nd hand one of ebay and it is 100 time better. In fact when towing you hardly know it's there !!.

    Petrol Leak

Thanks for your replies. I will be riding the bike this Sunday..so I guess I will know whether the Liquid metal repair holds or not !

    Petrol Leak

Having removed the plastic cover surrounding the Filler cap I found that one of the welds has broken away from the tank/frame and there is now a hairline crack which is allowing fuel to trickle out !!!. Has anyone else had a similar problem ?. I have temporarily covered the crack with liquid metal, but iam a bit concerned that it may get worse. Does anyone know of a reputible alloy welder in the south east/kent that would be willing to carry out sucha repair??? Thanks

    Petrol Leak

Hi All. I have an 06 Rev 3 which has appears to be leaking fuel from around the filler cap area. It normally leaks when the bike is being ridden, is shaken, or is on its side ( which for me happens a lot !!!). To enable me to get a good look around this area I would like to know how you remove the black plastic shroud that fits around the filler cap. I have had a tentative prod with a screwdriver but am a bit wary of breaking it. So if anyone know has any tips on how to remove it, I would be appreciate them. Many Thanks

    Oil In Water ?

Hi All i'm looking for a bit of advice...I have an 06 rev 3 which recently started to leak water from around the pump cover. I took said cover off and noticed that the bottom half of the groove in which the gasket / o ring sits had completly corroded away !!! I managed to stop it leaking with a silicone sealent, but since then I have noticed, when the engine is running, that the gearbox oil ( when viewed from the gearbox oil viewer) looks white. There is also a noticable amount of coolant missing after each ride but there is no evidence of oil in the water. I also checked behind the impeller but there was no corrosion, none that I could see anyway.... Do you think that the seal is at fault ??, considering the bike is not yet 2 years old I would be surprised if it is. Any thoughts comments would be appreciated.
  23. Hi All I have seen a few pics of rev 3's that have a black rear sprocket. Does anyone know where they can be purchased. I have seen the normal Red,Blue and Gold but not Black.. Any ideas ? Thanks
  24. Hi all Could someone help with a problem with my mates 04 rev 3. After about an hours riding the bike started " hunting" for fuel and then suddenly it just died and would not start. We think it is a carb problem, if so what should he look for when he takes the carb apart ??. Prior to this the bike had the usual leaking carb which had been " fixed" by our local Trials dealer, since then the bike has only been used once or twice...oh and before you ask the obvious..yes there was plenty of fuel in the tank .... Any ideas would be welcome Thanks
  25. Hi Joe Firstly 315's are notorious for dragging clutches especially when the engine is cold, however there are ways to improve it. To begin with I would buy a new set of heavy duty clutch plates from Haven Trialsport ( i think they only cost me
