  1. I was talking with Jack Field -Australia's only true professional Trials ride. You know he went from Sherco 290 to Scorpa SY250R and reckons he can do way more on the Scorpa than he ever could on the Sherco - and they do some BIG @#$%! and they give them heaps. I reckon that's a pretty good rap on it's own. Go Scorpa.
  2. I would SO not take the world Championships into consideration. As anyone knows who has been close to Montesa's work bikes, they bare very little in similarity to the common, garden variety, regular, everyday Montesa that Joe average can buy. And we all know that Honda(Montesa) have a far greater budget to "buy" the best riders, and hence World Championships. They slipped up for a few years not snagging Raga, but I'm sure they wont let too many more slip through the net. That's a company policy - they have done it in many disciplines not just Trials. On the other hand Scorpa have a virtually non existant budget in WTC, but they do make a brilliant motorcycle. From purely a "which bike is better" point of view, I would choose the Scorpa hands down. Ned
  3. I'd take that with a grain of salt .......... Look who owns montesa.com.au and scorpa.com.au .........The Australian Sherco Importer!
  4. Did it "rev out" before? If it did maybe it's one of the mods you did. If it has never "revved out", maybe that's it and your at the bike limit. How do you know it has more left in it. Have you put a rev counter on it? More information may be needed for a full diagnosis. If it is more top end you require then maybe the 163cc kit is probably the way to go for you. Percentage wise it is a substancial jump in volume. Ned
  5. Stator problem is bad enough that most of the Beta riders in NSW have jumped ship because of the ongoing problems the last few years, and complete denial of problem from importer. Uk Riders obviously getting better support from Lampkin. I got sick of the hassles with my Beta and went Scorpa. Never looked back.
  6. Nitjay - Do you seriously think the Scorpa factory would purposely fit a bearing to not last, considering the quality of all the rest of the bikes components. Come on! Oh yeah, but we saved 2 grams! If you get the chance drop in and visit the Scorpa Factory, you'll then realise how far from the thruth that statement is.

Jim I was at that trial also, and the bike is not a demonstrator supplied by KD MotoTrials, it is owned by Mark Reed and currently ridden by Kale Reed. They were kind enough to offer KD Mototrials the opportunity for a few souls to ride the bike. The bike is far from setup for your level of riding. The bike was setup suspension wise for Kale an Expert class rider. Most experts like their suspension settings pretty damn firm to take the punishment they dish out. No wonder you may have thought it was a touch firm. The standard settings are very similar to the 2 stroke and quite plush. But obviously have a broad range of settings. As far as engine performance- seems like Kale did not have too much trouble, as he won the Expert Class on his first time out on the bike, and he was raving about it! I think your getting linear power confused wiith uneven power (Montesa). Did you see some of the things he was getting up. Totally disagree about "engine viration and fuss". I thought it was a treat . Super smooth. I found the bike to be incredibly stable, easy to turn and really fabulous in the throttle response and power delivery. And the build quality seemed really top notch. I think Scorpa/Yamaha have done a brilliant job. And this will be the bench mark 4 stroke. All power to the little french company. Just goes to show how much different riders opinions vary. Get out and try them all is the only answer. I reckon it's a ripper! and so did all the others I spoke to on the day. Congratulations on it's first win, first time out. well done.
  8. The Australian Scorpa Importer has some useful Scorpa Easy downloads on their website: www.thehellteam.com
  9. Hi Sven, i am with you on this, if we both rode YZ125's there would be loads of info about!! in trials, suspension is either a "black art" or no one really knows what to do with it!, I am not really sure which, but i am inclined to lean towards the latter until anyone shows me different. There is a @#$%load more YZ125's out there as well - all information relative to population base. Suspension tuning: It's so not a "black art" - it's pretty basic. But the information doesn't find you sitting around waiting for it to arrive! http://www.trialscentral.com/cms/showartic...hp?articleID=99 http://www.trialscentral.com/cms/showartic...p?articleID=100 http://www.trialscentral.com/cms/showartic...p?articleID=101 http://www.trialscentral.com/cms/showartic...p?articleID=102 Ask other riders at a trial' Ask your local Scorpa dealer Send an email to the Factory contact@scorpa.fr Get off your $%&!. forums are an easy way out! you may have to do something to negotiate this one. Knowledge comes to those who work at it. I've never met a wise man that was lazy!
  10. Rear shock has no "clicks" . Long bladed fine screwdriver through access hole in rear fender at front of fender near mounting screw. Clockwise for harder - Anti for softer. What's the use of a base setting? are you 45kg clubman or 90kg expert. Get on it, ride it, adjust it, play with it, find what's right for you. Read these: http://www.trials.com.au/techtips/suspension7.html http://www.trials.com.au/techtips/suspension1.html http://www.trials.com.au/techtips/suspension4.html
  11. Change the oil...... NOW! If you think you need to check it - change it! Yamaha say 700cc on side cover, Scorpa say 600cc in manual. 650cc of the best synthetic 2 stroke oil sounds good HUH!
  12. Well! How did it go? Old Lanky!
  13. I've had Sherco's, Beat ups, and Scorpa's and the Scorps brakes have always been spot on. What are you washing the bikes with - WD40? Might pay to get a Pro to look at them. Sounds like it may be something you boys are doing not the bike! Good luck with it.
