  1. Sam, We were riding about every three days up until the latest snow, and yeah, we did get a lot! The riding arena is still a go, I just have not had a chance to take the bikes over. I'll call when we are all set up so you can check it out. Training days looks like a go, however I may soon take a new job and could alter the time I have available. If you need a place to test bikes the horsey barn should be plenty of room! ~Chris
  2. Hhmmm... do we know yet what ye (sam) might be riding for this best upcoming season???
  3. I could be wrong, but seems like I remember seeing some sort of traction diagram in Bernies book "Observed Trials"
  4. OK, so I feel a little guilty, but I am planning on riding Mid-Michigan one more time before I re-up my membership and have to work it I have been selfish that way this season... On a positive note, this will be my 8 year olds' very first event and he's going to pony up for membership as well! Also, I will be bringing my brother and his family. They are threatening to buy bikes for next season...
  5. I'm in full agreement! I'll supply 4 checkers for each event...
  6. I did not see it mentioned above, but I am assuming that you will not be bringing your bike to the States? I have a Sherco and a Hodaka. You are welcome to use either one.
  7. As mentioned above, there are several MOTA events that would be close to you but if it does not work out to ride at the events, you are welcome to come to my place and ride. It would be about 2 hours or so from Detroit. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you contact info...
  8. Biff, I picked up my copy on Monday, and yes it focuses on body movement and even has slow motion replays with voice-over so the viewer is sure not to miss it. Very well put together I thought, and the best part is the guy at the end in the suspenders...what a ride!!! ~Gaby

    Attn: Mota Riders

Whooaaa!!! Biff, man...Sure sorry if I my post presented as a critisism. It was not meant as one. I was simply lamenting the fact that I rode like crap. Just looking for a little "tounge in cheek" sympathy. You know, making fun of myself before anybody else gets the chance! Had nothing to do with event set-up, and everything to do with me having an off day. I read through my original post again and didd'nt see anything that (I thought) sounded like a critique of you, so WTF right back at'cha! I Love ya, man. And the next time I see you I'm gonna give you a great big hug! ~Gaby
  10. This is an official announcement that I will be pouting, kicking small dogs and all this week to cope with my angst about all the points I collected at yesterdays comp
  11. Oh Zippy, ur not a It's probably just the after-effect of all the water you took in on Sunday!

    X Games

So then... What are the barriers to entry? I have no insight myself, but I know of two bicycle trial importers that were talking with the X-Games folks a few years ago and nothing has come of it to my knowledge. Like I said I have no insight, but it makes me wonder if it would be (or has been) a hard sell.....????
  13. U. 2. a. "There must be no riding backwards on the loop."
  14. Any Michigan folks going to the Red Bud National in Buchanan this weekend?
  15. Bicycle Trials? Is there a formal bicycle comp or just rides for fun?

    Hey Northernnorm!

I have been riding trials off and on for the last 3 years. When I can make time I ride in the M.O.T.A. (Michigan Ontario Trials Association)events at the Intermediate level. I live on about 20 acres of hilly woodland, so most of my riding is at home. In fact, I don't think I made it to even one sanctioned event last year! I intend to ride in more events this season, and would like to try out some other clubs as well. After the birth of our 3rd son about 7 months ago, my wife and I decided to call our family "complete". So diaper duty won't be as much of a factor from here on! My oldest is 7 years. He is getting started on a TY80. As soon as he is ready to take part in events I'll have a green light (from the wife) to attend all the events I, er... my son wants. Wolfgang seemed pretty interested in trials. He did mention that he's not ready to buy a new machine, but he told me he is seriously considering a used one. He mentioned that he felt the most comfortable on an older Gas Gas that someone let him ride (maybe even at your place?). We also discussed Sherco (I ride an '01 290)and he had a good impression of those as well. I think he could get hooked with a solid used machine and some time on the pegs...
  21. Northernnorm, Just trying to make a connection... I met a gent by the name of Wolfgang at an RV show in Louisville a couple months ago. We got to talking about trials and he said he's a friend of yours. I can't remember his last name, but I figured with a first name like Wolfgang, it would not matter! Do I have the right guy?????
  22. Hey Sammy, if you moved to England I think you would go into withdrawl from those "authentic" Mexican steak taco's!
  23. Brent, I was down at your place a couple years ago with good 'ol Sammy when Cris Santos was there for the weekend. Did you ever get a copy of any videos taken? I remember thinking I need to send you one, but I can't remember doing it! Anyway... My 6 year old is just starting to ride trials. I got him an old TY80 to learn on. We should hook up with the boys and do some riding. I think I remember seeing an old Honda in your barn??? Have you gotten it back out yet?
