Dont worry mate - it wont be for sale,I only mentioned it as an example of what is on offer - cant believe no one else bid on it.For what it will cost it is not worth selling,I will have 3 250's now,one to ride and two non - running spares.My first thought is to build a practice bike out of the two so my main bike needs less maintenance.Or actually get around to cutting the frame around to make a Majesty replica with one of them.

Kept on meaning to check what I have on my 250,(which is standard apart from the flywheel weight is removed.) tonight when doing fork seals and rear shoes I had a look.Its 11/41 - I did try a 10 on the front but it made first too low and second just didnt feel right.Not sure if this will help you with a 320 - never ridden one,but my 250 does all I ask of it,my riding ability needs to improve before the bike does.

Yes,Ty250 twinshock,the clutch is in good condition and regularly used for the two years I have owned it.Think I'll get it warm,drain it and go back to the 10w/30.Perhaps change it a couple of times in a row.

Thanks for that,the new seals arrived yesterday,just need to pickup some oil - I'll give the 10w a try.What do you use in the gearbox ? I think I may have mentioned this before but I currently have ATF in there and its not good,before I had 10w/30 synthetic car engine oil which worked well.If there is a hot tip I'd give it a go,cheers Jon.

I started competative trials in 1985 on an early RL250,the silver engined one.It was very well made,very reliable and gripped well - but the flywheel would take you to the end of the earth ! Much better with the extra "saucer" weight removed.The only comment I would make now is that its not a patch on my Ty250 twinshocks which I compete on now - the steering/handling are in a different league,and I think the motor is more forgiving too.The chrome plated frames look smart when in good nick but if any mods/repairs need doing it can be a problem.
Having said all that they are a great bike,well in the spirit of twinshock trials - unlike the converted Yam/Fantic monos that seem to be creeping in.If one is on offer at the right price go for it.(If you don't like it it will sell,unlike say a JCM that parts are a problem for.)

My early 247 Cota has the frame number stamped on the RH side of the headstock,but the stamping is not very deep so I had to sand the paint off to read it.Sorry but I dont know if its in the same place on later bikes.

Evening all, managed to blow a fork seal at the Bath trial today.I'll get some new ones on order from Hirsts in the morning but I wondered if anyone has any views on what is the best grade of oil for the forks - I "load" the bike with a slender 14st !
My first ride of the A route in the Bath trials excellent trial,just looked at the results,they make interesting reading.(not mine)BTW what happened to Maj man 340 ?

The RH Betor shock on my Ty dumped all its oil after about 8 trials so I'm not too impressed.But that is one shock - they were too stiff anyway,much better with only one damping !
Think I'll go for a different make next time.

The well worn Ty250R that I had from 88-90 ran like a chaff cutter when I first got it,but I managed to sort it to a smooth runner just with very careful adjustments to the carb,I remember that the main jet size was critical to avoid dieseling/knocking when hot.I guess the difference now is that most if not all of them will have been rebuilt,(often badly)more than once.The Ty80 I have just rebuilt for my son runs like a sewing machine - but much time and money was spent in doing it,very glad that I coughed up

Thanks for the PM - thought I'd answer here so it might be of use to others.Do all other gears shift OK when hot,inc finding neutral ? If it does then its not clutch related,sounds more like a selector drum/fork issue.I dont have a manual for 250's,all I have is the Haynes one for 80-175's.What might be a help is to look at www.cmsnl.com and follow the index through,they have a parts fiche which you can look through - it shows the whole bike with part numbers etc.
It does seem odd that its only when hot if it is a selector fault as the box doesnt get that hot.What oil do you have in it ? When I first rebuilt mine I used some synthetic 10w/30 car oil that worked really well,but 2 trials ago I drained it and refilled with ATF.Now the clutch action is not so good so they obviously prefer certain oils.

I may have drunk more than is PC tonight,but I'll be glad if big John chips in and tells us all about this Bulto - I could do the same if it were a Land rover product.There is nothing wrong in in depth knowledge of product or a skill of its use.We just need to be there to admire and aknowlege their skill.I was looking for a Bult 2 yrs ago to restart my trials life,when a smart looking TY250 came up I could not resist - and I'm stilll enjoying it now.But I would have no hesitation in taking Big Johns advice in choosing a Barcelona model.

You are wrong,it is still being done I rode,(badly) in the Golden Valley trial last weekend - watching Steve Allen on his Enfield was a pleasure,finding grip where modern bikes were failing.According to TMX he did rather well in the Harry Perry on his rigid Matchbox the day before.Best not say any more or he wont be able to get his helmet on again.
Its the rider NOT the bike,trouble is most of us only have the ability to talk about it.

Yes it is an early one with the large drums - they would do credit to a 500cc road bike.I didnt realise they had a following,I bought it because I thought it was worth saving,its complete and has matching numbers.Looks like its fairly original too,it has steel fork yokes etc.If anyone is really keen bring em on cos the money could go toward my Pre65 project.

I just have a bad back and a dodgy right knee,guess that goes for all of us who have "lived/worked" a little ! For the Mont I thought about doing the frame with ordinary white spray paint so I can mod the frame or repair it and have no problems in refinishing.I am undecided on moving the pegs,think I'll try it standard first.
Am I alone in not really liking the modern wide pegs ? My Ty was fitted with them when I bought it,but I've toyed with changing the actual rest to the old narrow type so my feet can pivot around them - maybe my ankles arent so flexible now.The modern boots not having an instep to locate your foot on the pegs dont help me either,my old Alpinestars were much better in this respect,the modern pegs and Sidi boots feel like I'm treading round on an 8x4 sheet of ply !
