  1. Thanks to all for the advice. 13 tooth front sprocket and 1 1/2 chain links now ordered from Lampkins. The long distance tank/seat is also now on order.....
  2. No - gearing as the bike came - 11/41 I think. I do plan on putting a 13 on the front (like the recommended SSDT gearing) so will probably be forced to lengthen the chain then.
  3. I've ridden my 08 270 Beta twice and have noticed that the rear tyre is rubbing hard onto the rear shock - to the extent that the rubber boot is now completely worn through and the shock body has a visible scuff caused by the abrasion. Most of my riding will be more trail orientated (I a road regd) so I will be riding in muddy conditions for extended periods in the future. Has anyone experined similar problems and is this easily sortable? I've already tried to pull the rear wheel back by extending the snail cams but the chain is too tight now. Should I lengthen the chain? Thanks for any help!
  4. Thanks for the help Ian. I'll check out the parts manual.
  5. Just picked up the wife a 2nd hand 200 Alp and want to put a new chain on the bike. Any recommendations on the right chain size for the Alp - sure looks smaller than a 520. Thanks in advance.
  6. Thanks everyone for the comment. Funny, but the cons associated with the 4RT (weight difference, incompatible with a clutch/throttle style) suggest to me that i'd be better sticking with my 2T GasGas for now. Maybe I'll wait for a test day near Salisbury.....
  7. Can any of you 'converted' 4RT riders give us an appraisal of relative pro's and cons versus your average GG/Sherca/Beta/Scorpa 2 stroke? Are there more converts than disappointed 4RT buyers - there seem to be a few 4RTs for sale recently with the owners quoted as 'going back to 2 strokes'. Any thoughts?
  8. For info I e-mailed Mr Salvage MCs in Montana about the 8 litre system. They quoted US $550 for the tank and about a 4 week delivery time. The tanks are made to order and are aimed more towards increasing fuel capacity than providing a comfy seat.
  9. Does anyone have some good settings for the 250 pro? I weigh 13 stone. Is there a good web source for sag settings etc?
  10. OK, not sure if this is the correct forum, however I'm sure I will find that one out... The wife owns a GasGas 125 and I have a 250. I am considering riding the 125 in solo events, cos its a great little bike. That leaves me the potential to convert the 250 into an outfit so we can do a husband/wife effort in sidecar events. Having run a few google searched on sidecar trials I can't find any source of outfits and other info. I'm fully prepared to convert the 250 full-time into an outfit. Can anyone help me out? P.S The GasGas is an 07 250 pro. Thanks
  11. RRunner, you talk a lot of sense. We can all slate a bike if you want to ride every week and not maintain the beast. My 07 GG ( and the wifes) are proving to be great, straight out of the crate. They will still run great in 3 years, as I will be in the garage as many hours as I am riding..... Part of the fun if you ask me. WRT to a 4T GasGas. Please can it be light, easy to work on and keep mechanically sound (those 4T MXers cost thousands if they go wrong) and well carburated.
  12. Are there any good areas used for training near Salisbury? Don't mind paying or travelling or both...... I've recently been riding in the woods on the MOD training area west of Shipton Bellinger, but don't want a brush with the law (even though I'm on a regd/taxed bike). Thanks.
  13. Sorry, I meant lightness and longlasting!
  14. What standard gearing should I have on my 07 250? The rear is currently a 42 and I'm not sure whether to fit the 10 or the 11 tooth front. My wife has a 125 - is 9/42 gearing right or should we go with 9/48? Also what chain is best for the optimum combination of lightness and weight? Thanks
  15. Thanks to all those who gave me some advice. Sammy Miller's have fitted my rear tyres (mine and the wifes) and they are now perfect. I'll try it myself when I come to change a rear tyre..... Thanks
