  1. Mick is entered on a Scorpa 125 Four Stroke in the SSDT - With his long association with Yamaha, they have probably made it worth his while to promote the engine. He also is big fan of Four strokes.
  2. I have to laugh when I read about guys quitting because they are too old.... I talk to a lot of people at the Motorcycle Shows every year - this topic often comes up. - One guy in Calgary last week was being heckled by his young lads about getting another bike - "Too Old" he says - so I ask him "How old are you" - Oh I'm 47 ------- Lots of mirth after this. Just for the record I will be 67 this year and plan on doing lots of riding including climbing three Mountains in BC. (Check out my Joss Mountain pics on the Trials Canada site from last year)........ When you stop trying it's time to nail the lid down...... How about Mick riding the Scottish again this year and he's 60. ( Yamaha must have paid him Ha Ha.)
  3. Hey Jaakko - Over here in Western Canada, we have lots of experience in Winter riding in the snow. - We have had both Mita and Irc come off the bead at low tyre pressures, and we have also seen the tread come off a rear Michelin, - but the guy was riding at -22 (Nuts) - We have found that some bikes get better traction in the snow than others, ie: the Beta is the best, no matter what tyre is on the back - the old TY mono was useless, and the new light bikes struggle. - 3rd or 4th gear is the way to go in the snow - Keep the front end light with your butt over the rear fender. - Another tip is to use the GasGas(Hebo) footpegs as the snow doesn't build up so bad.... Yes and we still have snow in the Okanagan Valley - Forcast for next week is -23 -- BUT spring is not far away, and we wil be out riding in February...... Cheers - Outlaw Dave
  4. Great Job Andy -- Brings tears to the old eyes. aye Outlaw Dave
  5. Great Job the Trials Central Team - Quite exciting to watch on a very cold -minus 16 degree day in Western Canada. Noticed most of the regular guys were plugged in.... Cograts to Dougie, too bad Jarvis lost out at the end, - would have been nice to see him on the podium.... Can't wait for my Welsh buddy to come back next week with the story from the front row seats,.... aye Outlaw Dave
  6. Hey Ish, I aggree with your point on the Status of Trials - and the lack of news. - Maybe Mart doesn't have a computer ?? - Just kidding, at least I will get a first hand report next weekend when my mate comes back from the UK - He has got front row seats for tonight, supplied by Martin. By my 24hr clock I see it is 3pm in Yorkshire so the lads are probably still in Pub !!........ aye Outlaw Dave
  7. Maybe a good way would be to look what riders chose the year before.eg in 2003 Total entries were GasGas 77 - Sherco 60 - Beta 52 - Montesa 38 - Scorpa 14 - Yamaha 5 - Aprilia 1 - BSA 1 Final Results had Sherco winning, but the top twenty were listed as follows GasGas 8 - Beta 5 - Sherco 3 - Mont 3 - Scorp 1. What people are buying at the clubman level is a pretty good indication These results are really interesting when you hear guys slagging the Gas Gas, which after innitial problems in 02, was still the main bike of choice in 2003. - Now if you check the same thing for the 2003 Scott Trial you find these figures Total Entry Gas Gas 50 - Beta - 49 - Sherco 48 - Mont 30 -Scorpa 16 - As most people know Graham Jarvis Blitzed this on the Sherco. Beta did well with 4 bikes in the top 15 as did Gas Gas and Sherco - Scorpa had 2 but Montesa only 1 ?..... Outlaw Dave
  8. GasGasian, Where are you located ? If in the UK contact Kevin at John Shirts - The Round Slide Del Orto has a FUEL screw - not an Air screw. - It sounds like you should put it back to stock then check to see if the pilot is plugged - If you don't have any luck, email me direct through Trials Central Aye Outlaw Dave
  9. :snowman: Hey Joe - Not quite so warm out here, and it is supposed to get colder next week - AS Mart would say "Perfect" just Bloody Perfect, -Nothing I like better than driving through the Goddamn Mountains to attend a Motorcycle Show and explain about three million times why Trials Bikes don't have seats - If I had a dollar for every time I've been asked that question, I could retire & come down to Nova Scotia to ride the Beach. - maybe even drink some Screech!!!! - Ah Well, I'm sure I will get my sense of humour back by Springtime....... Aye... Outlaw Dave
  10. Howdy Ross - Welcome from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia - The weather here today is a "Tad" cooler than Florida - we had a a couple inches of snow overnight, but we are looking forward to picking up new bikes next weekend - January is Showtime out here, and a chance for the Club Guys to "strut their stuff" in the Arena. - By the way Joe How is the throat - a gallon of Screech is sure to fix it before the New Year. aye.......... 300 Pro

Sherpa - I had the only GG 300 out in Canada this past summer - It is a fantastic bike, but you do need to do two small mods to improve the starting. Please email direct at daverhodes@shaw.ca and I will tell you the secret. This is the bike that I took to the top of Joss Mountain in British Columbia ( Pictures were on the TA site and are still on the Trials Canada site) The bike has lots of power for any rider - Steve Fracy rode mine which was fitted with the slow throttle. - The round slide carb works great and the jets are cheaper than the flat slide units. I sell Beta - Sherco and Gas Gas - so get to ride most of the new models during the season - buy a 300 and you will love it. Please note the 2004 comes with different forks but there is nothing wrong with the 2003 stock Gasser units, Just back off the preload for break-in....aye Outlaw Dave
  12. An alternative to using a digital camera, is to use a regular 35mm SLR and then transfer your film to a CD ROM - This way you can use high shutter speeds, and most 35mm cameras are now cheap because of the latest boom in the digital market. - Pentax and Canon lenses are fantastic for getting those "Low light" shots..... aye Outlaw Dave

    great idea

Regarding the Sun dance mentioned in Vix post - I can now let the secret "Out of the Bag" - This was performed by Steve Fracy at the top of Fersit, in '92 - I felt so sorry for the lad, all blue & whining about bad German car drivers, and nice warm Scottish rain. - The sunshine was really as close as my Scottish Hip Flask, and was called Crown Royal, direct from the Airport Duty Free.......... and now you know the rest of the story.
  14. Best Wishes Andy for a new successful site. Cheers Outlaw Dave ( I guess that makes me the second Cannuck/Welshman eh Steve ?)
