you must have been extremely unlucky I had a 05 rev3 for 5 years and only problem was stator now got 2010 evo and absolutley no problems, as for customer service you wont beat John Lampkin and Beta UK, I hope you have better luck with the Gasser and Shirty !!!
Lampkin is awesome, regardless of age of bike he'll do whatever he can to help and its done quickly with minimum fuss.
GOOD LUCK with Shirty for getting anything, at all, ever especially with his technically illegal 6 month warranty!
Looks like Raga (and you'd assume the others) will be spending the whole of the winter perfecting their rear wheel Toni Bou style of riding in an attempt to get to the same level...
Looks mega and I REALLY hope Raga (or Fajardo) can match Bou next season indoors and out!
Just noticed that, But Jack rides for TTT, The Beta factory will have no rider at all, unless Doug decides to ride all the indoors, But I Can't see that happening really.
Dont think it's as simple as 'Doug decides he wants to ride all the indoors' am sure its invite only and I would expect that the FIM are not that bothered who's on what bikes as long as there is representation from everyone - which there is. I also Beta have very little input as to who rides the series. It's not the FIM's fault that Fajardo has left Beta.
As for Beta they dont have great options do they? The best 7 or so riders in the world are done so leaves them with Brown, Wigg, Gubian as their only options IF they want another rider alongside Lampkin.
IMO they'd almost be as well off leaving it with Doug alone rather than picking up the additional expense of another rider who, in all honesty, wont bring much to the table or any wins.
I'd like to see Wiggy back on the Gasser, but cant see that happening with Raga and Dabill there. Outside of that then I'd say Sherco could be a good move if TTT dont keep him. Like Dabster said Wiggy's had a pretty good year in UK and Europe but possibly struggled a little in WTC.
What about Wiggy as Ossa number 2?? They looking for anyone else?
The amount of times I've fived a section by going wrong way (either intentioanlly or unintentionally) is ludicrous, you can only laugh at yourself and carry on.
If someone wants to be a gimp and moan about it, laugh at them. Not worth the hassle for a fun trial
Tickets been on sale for nearly a month and I'm itching to order but TBH I dont want to buy and take the LONG trip up North unless its to see the best of the best - Bou, Raga, Fajardo etc
Not sure if anyone else has posted this but just been on todotrial and they have more pics (looks awesome) and details on new model. When they hitting UK?
Don't know the Engine colour but you should have received a pot of the frame colour when you bought it.
Really? Is that a recent thing?? I never did with my 04 or 07 model
Kev RTL : I would expect this is not a publically known colour code, and for good reasons.
I presume GG dont want people making their own Raga Reps - I have seen several Gassers on ebay claiming to be Raga reps which have in some case's literally just had crank and swinging arm painted in gold... Not even bothered with raga plastics or anything else!
I would say best bet is to ring Gas Gas UK and ask, if not email the factory direct.
If that is the case, then its really lose-lose for the customer as they certainly seem able to put the prices up blo*dy quickly the moment the currency weakens....
No offence taken. This is a forum for people to air their thoughts and opinions.
All I do is air mine - and yes it's often on price and p*ss being extracted by importers on pricing.
Why shouldn't Gas Gas (or any manufacturer) sell cheaper if their costs are cheaper?? Ford are doing it with their cars..... My point was -
Are Gas Gas (and other bikes) going to be cheaper or same as 2010 models abroad? If so then it's the UK importers making a tidier profit at the expense of the UK consumer and people will start buying overseas and importing their own bikes. IMO this
If they are costing more abroad - 2011 v's 2010 then it's the manufacturers that are taking more profit at the expense of their customers...
Now, I agree that they should be allowed and entitled to make more profit and if (as they will) certain items cost less to buy then the manufacturer could keep prices the same as 2010 and still increase profits
If they are cheaper abroad then people will shop abroad.
And also agree with you re: buying, not bought a bike since 2008 for this very reason.
No idea about the new beta price but 20% vat wont help, just as im on the cusp of affording a new bike the price always go's up. If the pounds getting stronger then why do prices go up and not down?
Spot on -
20% VAT not till next year so no excuses there for importers
Definites from a UK point of view: Lampkin, Dabill
To be confirmed: Cabestany, Fajardo
Also possibly other UK Wild card riders.
A lot of it is down to whether it is a world round and they have to comply with FIM regulations or whether they have freedom to run the event as they want.
Thats good to know then, looks like a cracking line up and I'm sure that if it's World Champs that Cabes and Fajardo will be there! My 'guess' would be that if they are not yet confirmed then the FIM have still not decided on what it will be. That about right Andy??
Hope they get Danny Mac there this time too rather than just casually announcing on the night that he couldn't perform
I find this interisting that you got GasGasben on Beta's, then Beatabeta on gassers!
I dont know how to change my user name on here (sad but true) so it stays beatabeta
I quite like the Sherco's (except the forks) and Rathmell seems (from what I've heard) to be good but for me personally I couldn't get a Sherco with the silencer where it is..... Heard too many horror stories about them getting damaged and needing replacing - FINE when in warranty but where do you / Rathmell stand when you're out of warranty???
Heard that Cabestany had a new one EVERY DAY in Scotland!!
You will get divided opinions from lots of riders.
You need to ride them both and decide.
For my money I say Gas Gas : I've gone from Gas Gas to Beta and back to Gas Gas - both will be 1000 times better than what most mere mortals can do on them, both are very rideable and very well made (ignore any comments saying Beta are better put together).
Should come down to -
1: what you like best
2: price and dealer support
If you cant decide from there then I would look at importer back up and based on this it's Beta HANDS DOWN!
John Lampkin (Beta UK) is fantastic, you could not want anymore as a backup. Will cover many parts outside of warranty, no questions asked
John Shirt (Gas Gas UK) on the other hand is (in my opinion) an absolute pain in the @rse to deal with, gives sweet FA back up, tries to get out of anything and offers (against EU laws) a 6 months warranty only.
Happy hunting.
PS: Bare in mind that the 2011 bikes are not here yet. The Gasser has a different frame (you may get to try a 2010 Raga Rep which has the new frame) but is not out yet. The Beta has not been announced but I dont think any major changes are planned.
Bye Bye Cruel World
