    Helicoil?

there is a much better product then a helicoil to repair threads, called "time sert" it is a solid steel insert. I've been in the repair business almost thirty years and have done alot of both product and if givin the choice I would never use a helicoil over a time sert. once installed they won't pull out like a helicoil. 2. I have recently gotten a 1999 315r, now with winter coming I want to mount the headlight but just see the lower screw hole at the base of the headlight surround, there is a threaded hole higher but I don't see anything on the headlight to attach to. Is there another bracket that I should have? Please let me know if anyone has an idea, thanks
  3. I've just bought my first trials bike after riding misc dirt bikes for the last 25+ years. I got a 315r. I am wondering what is the best way to learn, are there good training videos recomended and who sells them? I live in willamette valley area of Oregon and don't know of any groups that are active. I have some very technical hilly area with various size logs down to climb over and a few pallets to jump over in my back yard which has been fun and I think a good start. I was kinda chicken to try the 1 1/2 ' logs but when I did it was no problem the bike whet right over, so soon be ready for more challenge. thanks for your input, Bruce
  4. I have just bought my first trials bike, a 1999 montesa 315r. Now I need to learn to ride this thing. I've rode dirt/woods/ desert for years and am ready for a new challange. I have a bunch of pallets to climb over, a couple of 1 1/2 - 2 foot tall logs, and some good hill climbs in the back yard, I figure thats a good starting point but wonder if there are better videos or training sites in the western u.s. Also what about competion in western u.s.? Thanks, Bruce
  5. Does anyone know if there is a larger capacity fuel tank available for the 315? I've seen the ones that attach to the forks on the gasgas, and gasgas also has a larger main tank available, anything for the montesa? Thanks Bruce
  6. look at craigslist for california citys, also check with lewis sport I believe that they are near sacto, I've talked to them several times on the phone and are very knowledgable, and friendly. Bruce
  7. I've actually found a 2006 20 pro for a very fair price and think it will probably be better to get the newer version. any opinions? bruce
  8. I'm looking to buy a 315, had found what thought to be a nice 2004, but the trans case had a small crack, leaking oil. I have kept looking and found a very low hour 1999, but am wondering if its better to get a newer bike if there were decent upgrades. This will be my first trials bike so the latest greatest probably isn't neccesary. Thanks Bruce
  9. I'm getting ready to buy my first trials bike, I'm 48 yrs young, and have trail/ desert rode for years, wondering in in the 2-3k range there is any better than another gasgas to look for. I currently have a 280 pampera that I love in the woods, the power is great, a very controlable bike, I would like to get a bike that will help me learn without punishing me to bad for bad habits. If there is something recomended other than gasgas I'm open to that too. thanks for your input. I'm in oregon if someone knows of a bike in good condition. thanks Bruce
