  1. I would like to add to this growing list of Beta Uk / Lampkins tributes with my own experience I had a Beta Evo 09 and it was probably the best bike in the world and the only time it let me down was one the stator went. At the time I wasn't aware it was a stator issue and thought it was a carb problem due to the bike cutting out/choked out at the bottom end. After having the carb removed several times the problem wasn't fixed so a phone call to Lampkin's and they advised I took the bike to their shop in Silsden so they could look at it. John and his top mechanic came down to meet me in person and listen to me and my bikes woes. 30 mins later the bike was fixed and running like new and I was advised it was a stator problem which was replaced free of charge despite the bike being out of warranty. Due to this excellent customer service/experience it persuaded me to buy another Beta (now have 2011 Evo) despite being tempted by other brands. John & Beta UK thanks for you support.

The return ferry (Douglas - Liverpool) on the Sunday (only one) departs at 15:30 does anybody know if we will finish the trial in time to catch this ferry or do you think we will be better off waiting for the monday return ferry. Thanks in advance for any of the responses.
  4. Thanks for responding, I spoke with Lampkins today and you are right the connection under the seat is for the backlight. Anyway it turns out that both the buld had blown and the connection to the bulb was also rusted up. Thanks again for your help / response
  5. I bought this 2009 evo second hand and the front light has never worked. I have traced the wiring from the front light and it runs under the seat into a 2 pin connector. However there is no connector under the seat to make this connection to - can anybody help me please. Thanks in advance
  6. No road work in all the years I have done it!
  7. Hi, I'm thinking about buying a small helmet digital video camera that will fit to the side of my helmet to make sure I can record my crashes at a sunday trial. I was thinking of a small camera (like cabestany's at SSDT) like the bullet which would take an SD card be about 720P, weatherproof and fit within a budget of
  8. Hi, I was in the same boat as yourself in august this year and had a choice of a mint 09 evo or a hammered 2010 evo but again had reservations about the cracked frames and swinging arms on the 09 model. So I spoke to lampkins and they advised at the time that they would swap the frame or the swinging arm free of charge. This means you would have to strip the bike down and refit the replacement part yourself but I felt confident enough to go ahead with buying the 09 bike which hasn't missed a beat and I love it. Hope this helps!
  9. Thanks for your responses everyone, looks like its down the DVLA for inspection
  10. Hi, I know the topic has been covered many times but I have road registered a used Gasser before with no problems but this is different and the DVLA are gettings on my t*%s! The bike is less than three years old and has not been road registered before. The story so far!! Certificate of newness and proof of import tax (VAT 414) obtained from importer John Lampkin's V55/5 completed (stating bike is non homologation) and all necessary paperwork above along with insurance certificate, driving license, proof of address were submitted to the Chester DVLA office. DVLA Chester contact me by phone and advise me they require the bike to be inspected but I advise them that the bike is a non homolgation model (doesn't require type approval) and the answer I get is the Beta Evo is not on their standard list. The paperwork was returned at my request and having spoke with Lampkin's they concurred that the bike doesn't need inspecting as it is a non homolgation model. As Lampkin's deal with Leed's DVLA office I thought I would send the same paperwork to Leeds DVLA - Another phone call from DVLA requesting the bike is inspected by them!! Heelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllpppp!! Please can anyone help or advise me what to do next as I don't want to take the day off work to take my bike to the DVLA to see some mu&*ett who will try to justify his job by saying something is wrong with my bike meaning more hassle etc etc!! P.S. Loving the EVO so far!!!!

    Beta Evo 2011

Hi, does anyone know roughly when the 2011 Beta Evo comes out? Thanks in advance for the responses
  12. Hi, Could anybody tell me what NGK Iridiium spark plug number is for Gas Gas Raga 250 2008 (tubular frame) Thanks in advance for your help
  13. Thanks for the response What do you use masking tape for - what are you masking off? Can you get the hubs done as well? If you do strip down how / who do get to respoke / true the wheel again? Cheers
  14. Apologise if this post has been done to the death but need to know cheapest and best place to get my rims powder coated in the north west Thanks for any responses I get
  15. Thanks for the responses so far 1.) Yes it does seem to do it more going up the gears rather than down the gears - so I will look at the video 2.) I will try changing gear without the clutch to see if clutch is slipping but not sure it is the clutch slipping as I know that if I was to try and move from stationary when the bike in 3rd or 4th gear it would stall rather than the clutch slipping Thanks again
  16. Hi, At the Gerald Simpson Trial ( ) at the weekend I noticed on the moor crossings that my Gas Gas Raga 250cc (08) was a hesitating when selecting gear. In other words if accelerating hard or travelling at speeds when changing gears it would take a short while for the gear to select after the clutch has been disengaged, this was more noticeable going up through the gears rather than down through the gears. I have never really noticed before as it doesn't seem to be a problem in the lower gears (1st, 2nd and 3rd) only in the higher gears. I have spoken to the importer and he tells me there is a jump between the high gears but I wouldn't expect this jump to be so big that my weight shifts forward due to the delay (my body is expecting more high acceleration). Is it possible I have a worn gear selector?? I would appreciate any of you thoughts to try and solve this Thanks
  17. Hello, wonder if you could help me!! I have an 2008 Gas Gas Raga (tubular frame) with a rear DID wheel does anybody know what rear wheel bearing size I need?? Thanks in advance
  18. I have a 2008 Raga (2009 bike with tubular frame) and I want to it so that looks like 2010 gas gas pro. Does anybody know where I could purchase a full mudguard (front and rear), seat and tank 2010 sticker set from and for how much? I'm looking for a good quality kit which has thick strong stickers as I have heard that some companies (not saying who) do really cheap thin stickers which wouldn't last 2 minutes Thanks in advance for any help
  19. Had a massive crash at the weekend (Fuji style!!!!!!!) and smashed my right hand side S3 footpeg (Brake lever side on Gas Gas Raga 08). Can you buy just 1 S3 footpeg or do they have to be bought in pairs? Please let me know which is the cheapest place to buy from? Thanks
  20. New Beta evo looks like it has evolved thats probarbly why there are so many Beta 08's for sale in the classified ads on this site as everybody wants this one. I also admire Beta's marketing startergy as they keep the devleopment of the new bike very secretive and when they do make it public you can buy one within a month unlike other manufacturers who tell everyone a year before about a bike that they are going to bring out (like a dangling a mouldy carrot in front of your face) However to judge how successful a new bike is going to be we need answers to a few important questions can anybody help? 1.) How much is the 2 stroke and 4 stroke going to be? 2.) Looks a slim bike but how much does it weigh? 3.) Why b****y hell does beta always have to put the kickstart on the LHS ?
  21. Hello everyone, I am currently recovering from a cruciate knee ligament operation and therefore I have a bit of time on my hands to do some research as to what trials bike I should purchase next. I also believe that by deciding what bike to get next will help me as inspiration / goal to fully recover and be riding again by the beginning of 2009. I am in my early 30's now and have always ridden 2 strokes (clubman / intermediate level) but did own a 4rt which was sold after 3 months as I seemed to be riding worse probarbly due to me being heavy handed on the throttle. However the problem I now have is trying to predict whether or not trials bike manufacturers will still be producing 2 strokes trials bikes in the long term future and from this I will decide whether to convert to 4 stroke again or stick with the trusty 2 stroke. Here are some facts I have: 1.) FIM are pushing for all world championship factory riders to be on 4 strokes due to emissions and as all the best riders will therefore be competing on 4 strokes the demand for 2 strokes will drop forcing trials manufacturers to sieze 2 stroke production 2.) From discussions I have had with a UK importer they believe 2 strokes will always be produced 3.) As I work in the car industry I understand the manufacturing emissions / legislations are getting challenging for the manufacturers. Could 2 stroke engines technolgy be improved to make them pass emission legislations 4.) In motorcross / enduro 4 strokes were very popular but when people started to realise that the purchasing / maintenance costs of a 4 stroke where far higher than the 2 strokes they decided to go back to 2 strokes Please let me know what your opinions / predictions are for the future Thanks for reading Gareth
