  1. I wasn't too sure whether to put this topic in trials gear but decided on trials videos instead. I'm looking to get a reasonably cheap and lightweight 720p resolution helmet mounted camera which is easy to switch off/on between sections. Does anyone have any recommendations?
  2. I'm after a bike for my 8 year old son. I have a max budget of

    Sy250f

Spud, The latest TMX has a short piece on the SY250F. The 4T engines will be in the Scorpa factory at the end of February and rolling off the production line into the UK around May. Sounds like there will be several entered in the SSDT which, coincidentally, is in May! Question is, do you still want to buy an '06 model in May when the factory will most likely announce the '07 model (no doubt with different stickers, rim colours and frame paint) approx. 10 weeks later?

Spud, how reliable is your source? I've been told by an established dealer in the South West that they don't expect to be able to get them (in the UK) before May. The cost of
  6. Just came across this picture whilst having a look at a Yamaha TY site on another TC forum thread. Its from the 2005 Salives event which Mick Andrews was at. You'll have to look on the TY web site to see what he's just ridden through. What struck me though was his bike looks like a Scorpa with a 4t engine stuffed into it. Is this a prototype SYF250? If so, did Mick do the development of it (i.e. has it been developed for slippery British sections)?

So, all you knowledgeable Scorpa dudes, when is it supposed to be going on sale in the UK or are we just supposed to be content with their very stylish PDF brochure?

    Tlr200 Project

I came across this when I was Googling for some TLR parts: Salvage Motorcycles, Bristol Scroll down the page and look for TLR200 listed as item 608164.

    Tlr200 Fork Seals

Just in case anyone is following this thread, I found out that the washer is the backup ring on the bigger diameter forks on the TLR200D/E models. I was missing one from the other fork...

    Thats No Tlr

Nice tank/seat unit though. Anyone know if they're still available and how much they'd cost?

    Tlr200 Fork Seals

Nope. The equivalent TLR bit is the bolt on the bottom of the fork leg. Easy to damage but easier to get to.

    Tlr200 Fork Seals

James - its not a big job and you don't need special tools. I followed the front fork disassembly steps in a Honda TLR200 US service manual. 1. Remove front wheel and mudguard 2. loosen fork tube cap 3. loosen pinch bolts and remove fork tube 4. remove fork tube 5. remove fork tube cap, spacer, spring seat, fork spring 6. drain fork oil into tray 7. remove socket bolt at base of fork slider (held carefully in a vice) 8. remove fork tube from slider 9. remove oil lock piece, fork piston, rebound spring, dust seal and snap circlip 10. Honda use an oil seal remover at this stage but you can use the same technique Big John just described. Others, I believe, use screwdrivers David Silver has an oil seal and dust cap kit. There's also a chap on eBay selling stuff for twinshock/pre65 trials bikes and he sells seals for the D/E and G/H range of TLR200's.

    Tlr200 Fork Seals

Many thanks Big John. I don't have a hot air stripper at home and didn't fancy using the wife's hair drier so I dribbled some hot water from the kettle over the outside of the fork. Two dunts later - hey presto! Approx. measurements: 47 mm o.d. 36 mm i.d. 3 mm thick Anyone notice these in their forks or am I the lucky one?!

    Tlr200 Fork Seals

I'm now replacing the aged fork seal assembly on my tlr200e. Having been through a tlr200 workshop manual I've discovered that one side appears to have an extra washer/shim that I didn't expect (see fork on left hand side of photo). Can someone tell me if that washer should be there. I suspect someone has used it in place of the proper backup ring. Also, any ideas how to get it out as its well in?
  18. After 'MD09-5' on my TLR200E, the next 6 digits are all different.
  19. I had exactly the same problem on my '02 model. I stripped the clutch basket down, lightly sanded the ferodo'ed plates using some wet and dry on a flat surafce as they looked a bit too polished and reassembled it all. I put in some fresh oil at the recommended level. Worked for me.
  20. Got my TLR200 tank back from being sandblasted. They didn't sandblast the filler on both sides of the tank so I decided to remove the filler myself and this is what I found on the worst side. Whoever had done the 'repair' had used filler to bung up both holes!! Can these holes be repaired properly? If so, what's the best way of going about it? Does David Silver still sell TLR200 reflex tanks?
  21. In this weeks TMX, Birkett has indeed been confirmed as the new UK dealer. The article says that Birks is going to create a new company to handle the Scorpa distribution side and still keep his old dealership company. I think there's more to this story than anyone is prepared to publicly admit. Both Crosswaite and Brirkett have been in the trials business long enough to know what the realistic UK market for the Scorpa is. What makes Birkett think he can shift 3x more bikes per year than Crosswaite? I can't see the 4T Scorpa being that good!
  22. Some of us don't have time to scan all the forums. Besides, if Scorpa HQ are changing their T's & C's of a being a distributor, its likely to have an impact on non-UK distributors too.
  23. According to this weeks T+MX, Crosswaite's were asked to sign a new contract requiring them to pre-order three times the number of bikes per year than they currently do. They didn't want to commit to that. Anyone know who's brave enough to take it on?
  24. I've now completely stripped my TLR200E and am about to get various bits of it sandblasted, vapourblasted, powder coated and polished. Does anyone have any colour photos they could post showing what an original TLR200E (the one with the red mudguards/fenders and the red/white blue tank and side panels) looks like on both sides so I know what I'm aiming for. I promise to post pictures of the finished article.
  25. I have a damaged front brake panel of my TLR200E 'project' as you can see in the attached photo. What is the best of way of getting it fixed? [i don't have the original bit that was broken off]. I suspect a replacement one, if they are available, is going to be horrendously expensive?
