  1. Hello qcowboy, The Hondacode middlepart (273) indicates the Honda CL72 Scrambler US . You can find 35 mm. seals for the frontfork of the CL72 at www.cmsnl.com (search for partnumber). The complete code is 91255-273-000 (extra 5 in first number). A set will cost you 12 euro, that's aprox. 17,60 + mail. Sorry I noticed your question so late, hope it is still of help. Kind regards, Arie Bottinga, the Netherlands
  2. Hello, Some simple things could be the reason: Have you looked at the gascap of your petroltank. If the ventilationhole is blocked it will create some sort of vacuum in the tank. You will notice this at full throttle because of the greater demand for fule. And is your carburator the right size? A different diameter gives a very different response to gashand action. Succes, Arie
  3. Hello Russ, Older carbs are often very dirty in the small passages. If you did not clean the carb completely you could try ultrasonic cleaning. The best way to find out if it is the carb O.K. or not is to switch for another one (borrow/buy?). That way you know for sure. And is the carb you are using at this moment the right carb for the Fantic 200? Good luck, Arie from Holland.

    Production #'s

I know Erwin, I sold him some of my Fantics in the past. He is really into Fantic, we are producing Trial Team stickers together, in different sizes. And he is from Amsterdam :>) Kind regards, Arie

    Kt Engine?

Hello all, The cover seems to match the cover of the F12M 450cc 1973 2-stroke engine (Kawasaki crossbike). I spotted the cover in an old article in Cycle World (a dark black and white print). Kind regards.

    Trials House

That's what the helmet is for :>) Regards.
  10. Sorry the Pre'65 issue came up in this section. I was referring to Pre'65 regarding the Stornello Trialbike an Italian friend of mine is building at the moment. The Stornello of Marco and my bike are "regular" twinshocks with an old engine :>) Kind regards, Arie.
  11. thanks for the info. I will look into the Jeffries Honda history and than decide to go for that option, or sell the bike and look for a real trialclassic. Kind regards.
  12. Hello Honda experts, Has anyone ever changed a XL250 into a trialbike? Since the TL250 is extinct here in Holland I was planning to convert my XL250 Motosport. Please advice me about the important changes like sprocketsizes, position of footpegs, gearchange pedal and rearbrake pedal. Do I build new wiring or can I just tape of the extensions I don't need? Thanks in advance.
  13. Hello Michael, I've been checking out your site for some years now. Two years ago I was planning on building a Honda CS90 trialbike, for which purpose I purchased a 1964 bike. Your website showed pictures of the Ken Ives S90 Honda which I liked very much. In the end I didn't want to change the original bike so I sold it on to another guy. After that I did explore your articles on the KT250. Kind regards, Arie.
  14. Hello all, I live in the Netherlands and I bought a KT250 1976 in part for a nice price. Couldn't leave it behind :>) Some restarationwork has been done by the previous (first) owner who trialed the bike in his youth. This winter I will start on the engine, the paintwork will be done this week in exchange for some Fantic parts. If there is live in the project I will place some pics. The engine has not been open yet, but hey, what can be wrong? :>) Kind regards, Arie. P.S. I envy you guys for the many KT parts in the US, hardly any parts here :>(
  15. Hello Marco, Thanks for the explanation of the massive work on your bike. can you post more detailed pictures? I'm specialy intersted in your exhaustsystem which is very neat tucked away beneath the airfilterhousing. This exceeds my skills by far :>( I plan to have a frame made in the future for this engine, out of nickled chromebolybdeen. Not just for the weight but also because I love the looks of this material. I owned Guzzi's from '78 and this bike was my trialdream come true. And Dave, I think the limits of what is "original" in Pre'65 are being stretched every week :>) Kind regards
  16. Very nice bike Martin, I hope to be able to build a new lightweight frame in the future. What is the bikes capacity, is it 160 cc standard or enlarged? My bike was build in the 80's, not the 70's. The SWM basics are of a 1981/1982 model. Kind regards, Arie.
  17. I should be able to supply a PDF image of a 301-1986 fork. Are they identical to the 243/303 forks? Please let me know. Kind regards, Arie Bottinga
  18. My TY250 1976 had such a diode, mounted next to the headlight. It was an official part of the bike. This is a picture of my (former) bike.
  19. Thanks Dabnabit, I moticed the post yesterday and contacted the seller by mail. He wasn't offering a flywheelcover, but was willing to check his parts anyway. The only cover he found was a cover badly damaged when the chain came off. That one I let go.
  20. Hello Lee, Thanks for your reply, and your help is much appreciated. Kind regards
  21. Thanks for your info. I did mail Bob some week ago, no reply so far. Kind regards.
  22. The engine is heavy, this makes it a bit harder to lift the front. This RCR Guzzi Special was build in the 70's in Northern Italy by a Guzzi specialist. I bought it last year through an Italian friend who lives near him in the mountains. The internal gearing has been altered, the first gear is very short and very strong. The bike reacts like a twostroke, with very prompt reaction on the gas. The rest of the engine has been changed also, crank, piston, cilinder etc. The frame is completely SWM, with some small adjustments. It runs great and starts first or second kick. I compete in the Twinshock class, since the bike doesn't meet the Pre'65 rules. My Italian friend is having himself build his own Stornello special by this specialist, in the original frame (with some enforcements), completely Pre'65 legal. Kind regards.
  23. These are some pictures of my Moto Guzzi Special. Based on a Stornello 1969 engine placed in a SWM 1980/81 frame. It's now 244 cc. (original 160 cc). I use it in Classic trials. Kind regards, Arie from Holland
  24. Hello, I bought 2 Fantic bikes this spring. My Fantic 301 progress 2 (1986) is very strong and complete, and did well in Classic-competition. My Fantic 240 (1983/84?) runs very smooth. I had the carburator cleaned ultrasonic and ordered new carburatorseals from dellorto.co.uk. The rest is a straight forward job (frontforkseals, new tires and oil, and some new rubbers). I will be using it next year in Classic competion I'm still looking to buy a spare engine cover for my Fantic 240, for the righthand side. Can anyone help me with this? Kind regards, Arie from Holland. Righthand side cover My Fantic 240 My Fantic 301 (a bit dirty after practice)
  25. Hello all, I'm from the Netherlands. In the 80's I owned a Fantic 240, which I used for trailriding and a little trial (no competion). I sold it after a couple of years and changed to offroad (Yamaha XT 250, later XTZ660). I bought a Guzzi Stornello 244cc SWM framedspecial in Italy, this is my favorite bike for trials. I've allways been a Guzzi man. It pulls very strong from idle and feels like a twostroke in reaction. Lots of bottompower. 2 weeks ago a bought a very nice original TY250 1975, which needs sprockets, chain and rearshocks. Today I got offered a Kawasaki KT250, partly restored, at a smallprice. Frame, seat and exhaust/muffler are restored. The rest needs attention in the coming winter. But the Yamaha comes first. Then I will decide what to do with the Kawasaki. There are not many places where you can legally make use of your trialbike. I have to drive 100 km. to reach 2 trialclubs in the middle of the Netherlands. This means I can't ride as much as I like to. I will try to post pics of my bikes in the coming weeks. Kind regards, Arie Bottinga, the Netherlands
