  1. I have a Whitehawk ty80 for my boy.

The frame is a lot larger than the standard bike, wheel sizes are 20'' front ,17'' rear.

Forks are standard ty80 but with special parts added at the bottom of the fork legs that place the wheel spindle lower and forward.Quite neat.

Mine has a red one piece tank and seat unit made from fibreglass.

The bike is too big for my boy at the moment (he is 8 and average height but can only just touch the ground with his toes whilst seated.)

He has ridden it once, first time with gears so I have no idea how it handles etc.

Gearing seems good and low,it has a very large rear sprocket.

The frame is Chrome plated,it reminds me of a smaller version of a Miller Highboy Bultaco frame.(I used to own one)

The one on E-bay looks like a Whitehawk frame minus the fork extensions with a different tank and seat used.

His 8 year old boy must be a lot taller than mine!

  2. no mate its water cooled ! , surely if it was the clutch plates there would be tiny shiney bits in the oil . its a hydraulic clutch thats on my gasgas .

I know your gasser is watercooled. Its my husky that is aircooled!

Doesn't matter whether it is cable or hydraulic, its the clutch plates that are aluminium or steel.

  3. JTX 270 will be watercooled

if its the water pump seal then the the coolant level should have dropped.

doubt its ally clutch plates causing the oil to go grey but hey, I'm an accountant !

I doubted it too but I was told by a certain Charlie Preston who is Mr. aircooled twinshock husky in the UK.

  4. What kind of clutch does it have? I have never owned a Gasser before so I don't know.

My twinshock Husky crosser does this and i thought there was something wrong with it but I was told that it is the aluminium clutch plates that cause it.

    It is aircooled.

  5. Sadly John Miller, father of Scottish classic trials rider Graham, died suddenly on saturday.

John was out on his road bike when he felt unwell and pulled over.He had a massive heart attack at the roadside and, despite the efforts of a passing off-duty nurse could not be revived.

John was well known in the Scottish trials scene and will be sadly missed.

  6. Total rubbish, why should it be frownd upon to ride a converted bike. how standard are the bike you see in the pre 65 at the scottish?

    neil gaunts ariel ect.

The pre-65 arguement has been done to death.

I think this is different. This is taking a bike from a different class altogether, bolting on 2 shocks, removing the mono and calling it a twinshock.

What will be next, maybe a Scorpa sy175 with shocks bolted on and call it a twinshock?

  7. Super trial, well done to all involved.

Easy route was just perfect for me,I lost too many marks but enjoyed the day.

The weather was kind as well.A bit of queueing here and there but to be expected with such a large entry.

Bottle of beer at the end was fine!

The scramble was awesome next day as well, even though I fell off twice!

  8. ive entered the nostalga trial and was wondering what to expect in terms of sections and hardness of them. ive entered the easy course on a tlr.(not done many on it) cheers

I will see you there,I have an entry on my Bult.I am also scrambling the next day in the twinshock class on my old Husky.I will be the one at the back being lapped numerous times.

As to the trial I last rode in 2005 and the sections on the easy route were fine, nothing too silly or scary.I think the trial has been tightened up a bit since then.Should be a good day out if the weather improves.Expect large queues as there is a full entry of 120 riders and it is not a huge piece of ground.

    Looking forward to it.

  9. Have to pick and choose my weekends off mate, don't get that many. Coming down to Thornhill next weekend (Sunday), only bringing camera's though, see if I can't drag that miserable old scrote of a father with me. I assume you'll be racing, was going to try and get a couple of piccy's of Hughie but don't know if the camera has a SLOW enough shutter speed :)

I won't be there, sorry.I'm off to Ibiza on wednesday for 2 weeks.

I'm not so fast myself on the scrambler.Good fun though.

  10. Any excuse Fulton.......

Was a cracking run...mind you I only managed the Saturday and ended up with a cracked Scaphoid...and I was only observing!!! :)

Amazing piece of ground the Inverness club have there, the number of sections you could have are endless. Balance of the sections I saw was just about spot on.

Hi Donald.Hope the thumb is better soon.

You should have came down to Abington at the weekend there. We had a great trial.

Even though the weather done its best to try and spoil it.

  11. The Inverness club once again put on a crackin trial at Alvie at the weekend. Well laid out and sections suitable for the pre65's and a seperate route for twin shocks. Well done to all.

So to all of you out there with old bikes, get themout of the shed and get there next year, well worth the trip.

I would like to thank those how helped me out of section 2 on Sun after I had a quick exit from the bike and cracked 2 ribs. Managed to finish, just, and was well chuffed to have amounted the highest score !!!!!

    See you all next year.

What was it about section 2?

I fell off my Bult in the same section on the first lap and hurt both my hands badly.I rode the first lap in agony then retired for the weekend.

(I did observe on the sunday though)I only just returned to my work today after a week off.

Good trial and a great run out on the hill,a bit too hard for my ability though, some tight turns etc.

I'll be back next year for another go mind.

  12. I had one of these a few years ago.The kickstart shaft had snapped and I got it cheap.

I then realised why it was cheap,I could not find one anywhere and it is a common problem I am told.

It was a nice little bike, very light.
