  1. Get a bicycle inner tube, cut it up into small peices to wrap around tools such as the tyre levers, bicycle pump, co2 bottles ect and strap them somewhere on the bike! Wrap something around the spare tube and have that on the seat area of the bike - makes a small area for you to sit too!

  2. Been looking at them, have you used them before?

Yeah, got two sets as they do get a little smelly with sweat, so if you're doing a whole weekend of riding or something simmilar, its handy to have the two :wall:

Personally I think they made a huge difference, never had a blister using them... I find your hand grips them really well, and they move inside the gloves, so you're hands take much less abuse ;)

  3. Surgical spirits on the hands, or urine, your call ;)

Twice a day for a week and they'll be tough as old boots.

Grips - none, instead go to your sports shop and get some grip tape for tennis rackets, wrap it around your bars, over itself if you want it a bit thicker.

For the palms, put your gloves on as normal, but with the 'palm savers' available from trialendurodirect.com

    Problem solved :wall:

  4. Yip the bike is 35 years old i bought it when it had 300 miles on it from the origonal owner (friend of the family) and it ran great for a while with no problems. I have done some reserch and remembered that instead of using the seperate oil tank for the 2 stroke oil i have just been pre mixing the fuel and had the oil tank out of use. Now i'm thinking that i maybe suckin/ pumping air into the carb.

    Could this be so???????

Thats more than likely exactly what it is - try just blocking up the hole in the tank, then set your mixture accordingly, as this will remove air from the lower acceleration band, causing your mix to go off slightly.

  5. That is SO freaky, the excact same thing happened to mine. I wasn't going to post anything about it after all the hassle iv'e had with my bike latley. Iv'e had to order a new gasket though for mine, infact i ordered two from different suppliers just incase one was late delivering before the weekend, i'm going to adjust my gear lever spring and replace the seals in the top hat while the clutch cover was off. i did a quick check on the clutch finger height and seemed to only get 14mm so chances are it will need replacing in the near future. Unless it goes shortly it can wait till the winter months. I was so happy to have my bike running again i took it out for an hour and came back only to find gearbox oil everywhere. Sod's law eh!

you would probably be worthwhile ordering a new one for yours just incase.

Now i'm freaked out - happened to me today aswell, exactly the same circumstances as first poster. First time I've ever seen this problem posted.

  6. Right - now we know the problem - time to help you out :D

Nick the brillo pads from the kitchen, hosepipe and these on the exhaust, frontpipe to rear silencer - scrub away - gets rid of any crap and brings up a nice shine, good for aesthetics... Get a big sticker and cover the welded patch in the silencer - this is where the exhausts rubbed through on the wheel... It's been fixed so cover it up to look better, just notify the buyer.

Underneath - there will be a hole in the sump, drain bolt inside there, remove it and drain whats left of the gearbox oil - doesnt appear to be any in there, but always good to drain. Wipe the 'Swarf' of the plug and screw back in.

Now, on the clutch cover (right hand side of the engine) there's an identical bolt, remove this and fill with 450ml of Dexron III ATF... Wipe the swarf of the plug and reinsert.

    Brake lever - replace this,

  7. Doesnt appear to have gearbox oil in it either, considering the angle that the bike is leaning at, you'd normaly have a covered sight glass window! Bikes an 09 also, can tell this because of the tubular frame, dual map ignition, bolt through axle, Sachs shock and 09 plastics.

Nicked possibly? Poor description, seems to want a quick sale too... Minor scratches? Frames worn to ****, and the exhausts been patched. Missing swingarm axle caps, has a snapped front brake lever and what appears to be a very rusty rear axle! Not to mention the squished radiator or anything.

    Perfect condition :D

  8. i used touse castrol 747 also but in my motorcross bike, i was told for this it was not needed. I ask why and it is suited ideally to 125cc road racing bikes or contsant revving bikes. I suppose motorcross bikes rev more consistently higher than trials bikes so really shouldnt be needed. Also it can clog up i hear. I guess you should see what the top boys are using. I know for sure one WTC rider doesnt use it but as for the likes of bou it would be interesting to know if thats what makes you tick. Must admit it smells nice, but does it keep your feet on the pegs????

The likes of Bou wont use it, they're on four strokes :D

  9. Yes - that is correct :agreed:

The system works fine if you have sufficient fuel in the tank of the bike itself to begin with as thats what the syphon relies on.

The bike will draw a little from the main tank - begin the syphon, then use the auxillary tank - then your own tank... If that makes sense? So dont be surprised to see the auxillary tank level dropping first

  10. I too thought this while on my Sherco - I, as you did, turned my filter inside out!

Why? Not only due to the wrong way roundness of the whole filter business, but also they say theres that big rubber seal... What the hell is it going to seal against pointing up the way? Yup - You're right, nothing!

I think they've had a Gas Gas on site during design, and just a Sherco filter and assumed they're in simmilar posistions in both bikes... as the GG filter is like a cup over the airbox - carb rubber. Meaning that if it was used like this, there would be a seal against the box, and the filter material would be the right way round.

the air filter fits the stock filter cage without a problem. No matter how bad

Sherco's dont have a filter cage, the GG does... I'm thinking its more and more likely :agreed:

  11. Could be something binding inside the gearbox, could be the crank, could be a warped cylinder, could be many things.

    Need a few more details;

How did the bike die? (slowly, fluffing, hunting, suddenly, with a bang, with a grinding noise ect)

What were the conditions of the section. Wet? Dry? Dusty?

Have you checked your reed block?

Have you checked your magneto for movement/crap behind?

Did you check your coolant level before removing the head?

Did you check your oil level?

    Best of luck,

    Jamie

  12. Hmm, wish I'd known about this stuff in my Sherco days - As for getting it in the bike, I found 700ml (or any size) drinking bottles for rabbits/guinea pigs ect work best. Available from the nearest pet shop for a couple of coins.

    Click

Cut a small amount off the end of the drinking spout so the ball bearing drops out and oil will flow freely from bottle to bike - Squeeze some 8mm i.d. fuel pipe on and you can tie the bottle to the bike, put the pipe in the filler and leave it fill while you get on with any other task :banana2:
