  1. Back up team who has that in japan apart from top 4?

If Jack is jtg Factory no 1 he should be there, surely, even if its a bike and a minder.

A small factory needs to grow bu getting the bike out there, at every round.

If JTG are serious about continuing they need to sell bikes. Other JTG riders were there in Japan.

Maybe this is the type of reasoning/spending that sunk GG?

  2. I don't agree that it's a rich persons sport. I know a lot of riders who spent a ton of money in the sport and get frustrated that they don't get what precieve as value.

I am not going to say that Andrew doesn't have opprotunity but I will say that a parent who tells their kid that they can't ride if they don't do their school work is doing the right thing. That has knocked Andrew out of season trophy contention. It effected Andrew and made him want more.

If I had a business which specalized in international integration and wanted to take part in a sport which requires international participation why wouldn't I sponsor or fund my child. For Aires I think this is a win win. What if Aires was the international sport participation coordinator for those competing? What if Aires was the go-to company for the manufacturer who wants to expand their export base? I am in no way paid or sponsored my them but at a high level it just makes good business sense. TRW did this as well you know.

Az National last weekend was an eye opener for me.  I checked at our National here in CA a couple years ago and this was my first National since.   Andrew P. has come out of nowhere in 2 years and all excuses aside, this young man has put in some hard work.  At 16, he is clearly on his way to the top and in my opinion, he is just short of it here in the US anyway.  I wish him and his family all the best in their quest for a position at the top.

  3. Out of curiosity, I contacted Mr. Shao and he and the company seems legit although I have no intention of buying one. I told him I have agents in China ready to take delivery and handle shipping. He responded that the bikes are still in development.

The Chinese are not accurate with their listings but he responded to my questions and I believe his company does make the frames for Gas Gas Pros. Here is part of his response:

The difference is: all the parts we used is made in China, but the structure is the same to gasgas original ones. As the technical parameter shows, we use Zongshen 4-stroke engine, not 2-stroke engine. In China 2-stroke engine is forbidden to be produced due to environmental protection.

Actually for this model, we are still in developing status. We will finish the first sample on May, 2015, so we do not have detailed photos, and if you want to buy sample, you have to wait for 3 months.I am sorry, but we will push the sample developing.

On their company profile are factory photos and I found this one:

GG Pro style frame with Zongshen motor which looks like a 4RT copy. Next generation Randonne prototype? Chinese frames and motors can be very good. It looks like they make frames for Yamaha also. Sherco, Scorpa and Beta use the same Chinese 125 4 stroke engines that Yamaha uses. I wonder if Sherco frames are made in China? They moved to the cheaper to produce tubular frames about the same time. It would be safe to assume the 2T motors are not made in China.

The factory could be stuck with unpaid for Pro frames so they are planning to make and sell these all Chinese versions. Set your calendar for May for the unveiling of the all Chinese Gas Gas Pro!

Reminds me of the Italjet 4 stroke back in the day......close, but no cigar

  5. This is probably going to sound a bit gay, but if you see Bou stripped off (he was getting changed dammit), he is solid muscle from top to toe. Suspect he does a lot of working out over and above his bike time.

    C'mon Andy...that sounds kinda gay.

Put all the top class riders on a 125 for a year....Bou's bike Would suck!

  6. So who wants represent their country to take an educated guess at the amount of riders in their country ???

No wild guesses but rather a educated guess based on what you know about trials in your county?

Here are the countries I think know who are on this site. Please add your name if you want to speak for that country.

Maybe Andy knows the stats on what countries are represented on this site? ANDY?

  7. I can't understand how copey and dadof ever let go of the simple yet reliable chisel and slate method of communication but i wish they hadn't.

I think D of 2 and Copley have seen the worst of problems with FI and are speaking from experience. Its the folks who don't know any

    better who have other views.

On a Trials bike anyway,...FI seems to cure a problem that never existed.

  8. As Above , timing got to be off ... Never seen a 240 or 300 do it , but the minarelli powered bikes may .... And points are not required ....

Reason I believe is more common to bikes with points is that normally the point gap starts to close up over time causing

    ignition closer to TDC

  9. I can't wait to observe again in R.I. , I had a great time in TN. with the new rules , and I wonder if Michuads pre event pep talk will change ...

I just like to ride my bikes , and watch those far better than me have fun doing the same ... And that was one of the things that impressed me the most in TN. , Bou , Raga , etc. on down the line are having FUN ! Fuji got mad in my section 'cause the bike actually screwed up , but he still smiled and thanked me for the 5 I punched on his card , (as he swore at his mechanic/minder :) ). And all the riders were sociable and enjoying themselves ... Isn't that why we do it ? This is the best motor sport there is and we get to rub elbows with the very best of us ... Why bitch about anything ? Make the best of what we've got .! And long may our sport survive !

    Good post......well said

  10. Hi all!

I am debating on whether I will start riding trials or not, but I do have a 1974 KT250 that I'm wanting to get back into tip-top riding condition, whether I compete or not. :)

This thing has been family owned since new. My great-uncle bought it in 1974 and sold it to my grandfather (his brother) in 1999, who brought it back to life for me.

I am not a mechanic, but I'm excited to start on this fairly simple motor. :) My goal is to have this in excellent riding condition. Right now I've got to clean the carb and gas tank. Oh, and change the oils. That should get it running, but then the fun starts. :) I will probably rebuild the top end (not sure if its ever been done), rebuild the fork, maybe replace the rear shocks with some that can be rebuilt, etc. Not sure what all I'll do just yet as I'm not sure what all it will need, but I'm looking forward to both working on it and riding it.

Anyway, I found this forum and wanted to jump in here since there is probably the largest concentrated group of people who would A) know much about my bike and B) also share my enthusiasm for it. :)

Hope everyone has a great New Year!

    Brandon

The Kaw. will give you a great introduction to the sport . Great for modern trials in the lower classes or vintage trials.

  11. That's a fair bit to have determined from watching a five minute video atomant!

Now think of all the videos you've seen of Doug riding over the past two decades & read this statement back to yourself.

Boy.....my thoughts exactly !!! The video could have been filmed using any bike considering the talent of those 2 riders

  12. OK cali guys ...

I've been away since 2003 . used to live in Arrowhead . If I move back , what will it take me to get my trusty Fantic collection green stickered out there ? My First wife wants me to come back ? Or is Flagstaff Arizona a better option ? I like the climate / terrain in both areas .

Just curious of what you know ...

    Glenn

Green Sticker shouldn't be a problem based on the year. But if you haven't been here in awhile, you may not like the place so AZ might be a great backup plan........or God Forbid......Texas
