  1. I have rebuilt the bottom end, but i have a single thrust washer left over, it is a strange one as it has splines on the inside any ideas, where i should be ? It is approximately 35mm in dia with a very shallow set of spline on the inside
  2. Has anyone a table or list of torque setting for the various crank case, clutch and magneto nuts & bolts on a 247cc Cota please
  3. I now have all the parts to reassemble my Cota engine, I am checking things prior to assembly and one thing I am not sure about is the kick start shaft. It appears that the assembly is as follows. The shaft is located inside the engine in a brass bush, a circlip and washer are next, and the shaft then goes through the engine casting where there is an oil seal. , the outer casing and bush are next followed by the kick start. My query is should there be a spacer after the oil seal, or if not what stop the shaft moving inwards, if this happens the cam on the kick start shaft will foul the case as is kicked over rather than correct position were the can hit the stop. Has anybody a parts drawing for a 247cc as I only have one for a 123cc that is different. Or any advise appreciated. I can forward photo, if the description above is not clear Many thanks John H
  4. I am just about to put back together the bottom end on my Montesa Cota 247cc, Should I put the gaskets on, 1) dry 2) Small amount of gasket solution 3) lightly greased, I have read different ideas on this subject Thanks John H
  5. I need to repair a small area around the Kick start / Kick start return sping area. Has anyone a photo of a bare crank case, so i can see what it should look like the area i am intested in is the wall to the right of where the kick start shaft goes through the casing. Many thanks John H
  6. I have stripped down the bottom end, to replace the main bearings and seals. I am looking for advice in which order to reassemble the crank and main bearings. Do you heat the two halves of the casing and fit the main bearings into the casing first and the fit the crank ? If so how do you know the position the bearings in the casing as there is no lip to push them up against.
