-
The trials playground today, not much grip young un and his pup were sliding down the hill on their backsides and couldn't stop untill they reached the bottom, dad thought he would be cool and take the sled down, what a tit! I nearly topped mi sen on a tree.
-
Ok got em back up, been with no power since last night, 6" of snow then it started to rain with the temp at [19 deg F] as soon as it touched anything it froze, once it gets a good coating on tree limbs they start to pop many people without power as limbs takeout the power lines.
All roads are just thick solid ice.

Can't make it out, did the bike come round with him on it from the tall part on the left?
-
i know FIM states knee length boots, wonder if high heels would pass
-
Hi Wayne, it will most likely apply to any AMA sanctioned event, so those clubs that use the AMA insurance for their locals will probably have to run under those rules.
But as you say the only time I could see it being enforced would be at the nationals, and most riders do wear the correct clothing as your name is checked on your shirt at tech.
-
It applies to adults in the UK, in the 98 SSDT I wasn't allowed to start a section because I had took my jacket off and had a T shirt on, since I took it off down by the road I had to borrow a coat so I could ride the section.
It used to be no shorter than 3" in the US, I don't know why it is now required to be full length, as HRC say's not a lot of protection, more likely they want you to look more professional in their series.
At club level it would come down to who would enforce the rule, some parts of the US in summer, being the person to tell all the riders they must wear a full length sleeve could be a hot topic

Hi Dave, I have no doubt Andy will give a first class report and pictures of the event, and if he was given the pre event info from Octagon, it would have been posted in short order, instead he had to write a bit of a blurb just so there was something posted.
The event organizers job is to put on the show and fill the seats, that parts done, who's job is it to promote the series and let Joe public know about a world championship event??????
I don't know what paid professional promoters do, but I would think to get major sponsors who want their name and product promoting it needs to be seen.
-
Sounds about right Eiger, but even the Yam had a job keeping together with Rob Crawford nursing it round, He would pass me doing speeds I didn't think any trials bike could acheive, only to come round the next corner to see clouds of steam and Rob in a beck-hole, splashing water on her trying to stop the head from glowing.
Bye the way, nice walnut whip on the nippers head in the avitar
-
Sounds like a Yorkshireism, Dirtbag, or Dirtdoctor, would come up wi.
-
I thought the gearbag was for putting thi boots and riding togs in
suppose mine does have an oil in it.
-
Thought you were off up to Sheffield to share a bed with Andy, Nigel?
-
Come to think of it! Horacio, got me with something like this a year or two ago, do the Spanish have a new year thing similar to our April fools?
if so that's twice the buggers got me
-
I was trolling Todo trial site and saw the pic of a quad in a section, but the link to the actual story didn't work.
All I can say if true!! is we will soon be seeing riders getting killed, if some are going to try scaling rocky climbs and such on those things, please call it somthing other than trials.
-
.The British round of the world indoor series is this coming weekend, and once again there is bugger all for press releases on any of the top web sites, this can only mean the series promoters haven't sent them out? or am I wrong and the websites just cant be bothered to post world championship news, or is there only enough promotional $$$$$$$ for the Spanish rounds.
Who is riding, and their current standings, or is it just a circus as many say and not worth the effort to let the trials world know what's going on.
Why do they charge the event organisers a fee? is it to help promote the event, or just to give some sad bugger a room and front seats at the event.
Any wonder why trials isn't doing well at world level.
-
Nathen, stu, did you have a good night?
-
I stand corrected, he did say what is the best bike for Scotland.
So I will change my answer, the cheepest bugger they can get
-
Gavin, I agree if you have it use it, but most don't and trying gets them into trouble.
Can't for the hell of me understand what looking at the trial results prove other than those lads finnished in that order.
-
It's a fair comment Charlie, and the one most used for this system, but it wouldn't be hard to correct by making the sections easier.
The biggest resistance to a scoring system like this or gate trials is peoples ego.
The thing i don't understand is why struggle thru a spectacular looking section for a three.
-
I ran a club event using the 12345 scoring, then the club voted on how they would like the scoring to be, 12345 system wasn't favored.
The things I noted were the scores are very high, more fives than you would normally get, so it would make sense to make easier sections, ours were not hard at all.
Riders prefer to have every chance they can of getting thru for at least a three, this system took away that chance.
Is it a fairer way of scoring, I think it is and you get a truer result at the end of the day.
Is it easier for the observer not having to make a judgment call, again I think it is.
Will it catch on, I don't think so! people just don't like getting fives.
-
Hi Pete, to tell you the truth it's stuck in our lads shed, I will ride a new bike if I get in, this will be the last year I put in an entry for the Scottish, but plan to get the Seeley, totaly restored and leave it over there so I can ride events like the Richmond three day clubmans course or some twinshock events in that part of the world.
If I don't get in I will still be up for a few days spectating, so make sure I get to see you.
-
Graham Tales, I don't know how he is doing now, Stuart C, could probably set us straight, but the last time he was in the states he gave me the Yorkshire centre handbook which had a picture of Graham, and the fact he was the centre champion in 2000, that's no mean feat as he was riding when I first started around the end of the second world war er summet
I know it's cool for the young un's to do the tricks but they are no good if you can't get the bike thru the section.
Or could it be the sections are more suited to that style of riding in Yorkshire?
-
I see many posts on how do I hop, flick turn, nose turn etc, and many club riders loosing points by hopping and trying to trick ride in a section when just riding through is all that's needed, it's an old saying! but first you have to learn to walk before you can run.
I know some like the flick turns etc but even Jordi Tarres, and Doug Lampkin
didn't/don't trick ride if it's not needed.
Is this what made them the best trials riders of all time, being masters of the conventional style of riding, but able to trick ride when needed?
some of today's young Spanish riders are brilliant trick riders but seem to be missing that bit of something to give them consistency.
It never fails to amaze me when people ask for test ride on a bike, and instead of trying a section or something they have ridden on their own bike to get a comparison, they just try and hop the front and rear end on a bit of flat ground and say thanks, or the young kid doing all sorts of tricks on a rock or log before a trial and people say wow he's good, only to see them legging it on every slippery corner or hill in the trial.
Old riders that still win events who's only experience at hopping is over to the bar to get the next round in.
Truth is!! 99% of the time at club level trick riding is not needed! how many times has that silly hop cost you a silly dab? I'm not having a dig at anyone, just pointing out what this old git sees happening too many times at local trials.
One thing I do know is the best trials riders of all time, have also been the best at the basics.
-
With Cabestany claiming the Spanish indoor championship a week or so back, Raga is getting to the point where he will have to produce the goods this year in the outdoor championship, or I see some other rider taking the number one slot at GG, excuses carry little weight in any sport, and the truth is your only as good as your last performance.
