  1. I would need an AMA international license, which requires you also have their medical insurance, they once had to fly a rider home to the USA for treatment so it is very expensive. Being a British citizen I have access to the good old national health system, bottom line it's a lot cheaper to join my old club and get a british license.
  2. Hey John, I tested my impeller last night :santawink: seems in fine fettle, hows yours doing.
  3. 0/5 would read no dabs five cleans 5/0 would read five dabs no cleans. so the kids course on the day you mention Zack won with 0 dabs and 15 cleans, the second rider had 1 dab and 14 cleans, I'm trying to first build a kids class and give them confidence hence the low scores, once I see what the kids can do safely I will start by adding an A line to take a few more dabs off the better riders, but still keeping the fun in mind, we will see by next year if it works or not.
  4. Iv'e a heared it's going to be red!!!! with shower forks and nissin brakes, and a little hrc logo in the bar clamps.
  5. I have found Sherco good at correcting things like this, instead of pretending the concern isn't there, they fix it as soon as they know about it. It isn't just about having a good product, you also need good quality control and after sales service, or the punter just goes elsewhere next time.
  6. Marky, it was caught and sorted at the time, with better attachment of the impeller, I know RYP did it under warranty for those early models that had the concern, some may have slipped thru the net but three years after the fact is a bit late for warranty.
  7. As dun it lad, our lad the soft bugger given up! not riding Scottish, his bloody soft mate said he wern't riding ether. as ale gone sour i cobbydale er what, can't see johnboy sitting it parcferme i fort william fettleing bikes all week, might get his hands dirty or brake a nail tha nos. :santawink:
  8. Thanks lads, all sorted just need to get past the ballot and then send her in :hat:
  9. When applying for an ACU license do you still need the passport photo to be sent in with the application And is there anywhere I could download the application form.
  10. His dad was there in 02 John, but he wasn't driving a clapped Volvo, some sporty air cooled German model
  11. Same game different colored bike, and a very nice bloke to work with in John Lampkin, all the best for 04 Gary, a SSDT win would be a nice touch.
  12. This got me thinking about works bikes. Most of you will know what blueprinting a engine is, but for those who don't a blueprinted engine is one that is built to the engine design blueprint spec and tolerances. Manufacturing specs allow more tolerance because slight changes happen in the manufacturing process, a works bike will have more time spent on measuring and matching parts than a production bike, it all comes down to a matter of cost. Thats why right out of the box or showroom floor, some bikes, cars, whatever, seem to run smoother and better than others, although they are the same model.
  13. Nothing to it!! the smaller bore machines retail cheaper and aimed at younger riders and entry level riders, so made use of left over parts from the previous year of the top line model, usualy brakes, shocks, hubs, forks, etc I would say the old stock of shocks is all used up, so why pay the same for that style shock when the new shock will be about the same price? All brands that sell smaller versions of their top line models do this, but if you put the bikes side by side the only difference is size of bore and related parts, do you think it costs more or less to produce the same looking bike? probably the same, but can take less to get rid of old stock parts.
  14. Anyone know who makes / sells the alloy sump sheild for the Fantic 200. The plastic one that is on it now is like new, but I don't think it offers much protection. I would pay cash if someone could have one at the scottish for me :hat:
  15. Nowt!! if there are less and less riders in championships eventually it find it's own level, events that 99% of riders enjoy doing don't seem to be suffering the same fate, not until the powers that be prove to themselves they can't make mega bucks from the sport will it be allowed to stand on it's own for what it is. Nothing stopping anyone putting on classic trials if they prefer riding that style, as for the modern events I think this past year has had the least amount of complaints about rules in a long time. At my age it doesn't matter what the young guns are doing, I enjoy seeing worldrounds or the nationals, a good ride is still a good ride. Now get back to fettling that 240, I have just put wider pegs and taller bars on the 200, all I need now is the alloy sump guard, anyone know who I contact in the UK to get one?
  16. Are you sure you could handle it Gavin, you tend to slur your words on here, what the hell would you be like with a drop of the fine stuff down ya :madsanta: comes to mind
  17. Entries close today, so who do I send the fine aged malt too
  18. Thats a new ride opening next year, it's supposed to be on fire when you are at the top, and you free fall out the window or summet?
  19. This link has all the pictures of the Honda trials models from 74 http://www.ataq.qc.ca/musee.htm
  20. Sherco, as Don says the overall shape is supposed to be a bear, what Hrc, is talking about is! in the shape of the rocks on the bears back you can make out the figure of a prson lying down. You live there Don, with the water turned off, which they did every evening you could make 5 or 6 mega sections, would they go for it?
  21. Toooooooooomany bikes are you ever going to get one of the buggers out and come riding with us, no need to change the oil at all if there left in the shed :madsanta:
  22. My take on four stroke trials bikes, I still ride both at this time although one is a bit old. Changing oil, it doesn't need changing after every ride, but does need changing more often than 2 strokes, Valves, keep in mind all your motor vehicles have valves, how often do you adjust them? my van has 153000 miles on her and never had the valve cover off, adjusting the cam chain once a year on a trials bike to take up the slop maybe. The 4T won't lack for power but it's a totally different feel, keeping the wheel on the ground and letting it grip works better than hopping, also throttle control is more crucial, if the FIM do go this route in 05 I think it will play into Doug's hands just a treat, his style of riding suits the 4t better than that of the Spanish riders. In the US I see the 4T being an hard sell while there is the choice of 4 or 2 with most opting to stay on the two stroke as long as they can. The UK probably will have more takers for the four stroke as the section and riders over there will be better suited, but then again most will stick with the 2 stroke. When it comes to short runs at big steps, I would rather be on a two stroke, but with the age limit keeping riders on 125's longer in world comp and the introduction of 4 strokes for WR could we see more sensible sections that more riders have chance at attempting . I think by the time you can no longer buy a new 2 stroke due to governmental law, there will be some very nice and capable machinery out there, I just hope they have the price something close by then, or a good competitive version for the clubman at a lower price, I think Scorpa are on the right track in this area but need a few more CC's to get more people interested. The bottom line!! those that prefer the 2 stroke shouldn't need to start plsslng and moaning for another 4 years yet, so dry thi eyes and ride the buggers until it changes. It won't be long before we start seeing some pretty usefull pilots giving the plonkers some reet testing on WR sections, once you see what they can do opinions may change?
  23. Troy lee, USA. click here for ideas. http://www.troyleedesigns.com/custom.html/...m_frameset.html His paint jobs have too much going on for me, the lad who did my helmet, also does the team sherco helmets, makes a good job too.
  24. Good to hear from you Boyd, I hope to see thi again in the event next year. Talking on the phone to our lad yesterday, he must be going thru the midlife crisis thing, just dumped a barrow load of brass into a sports car, Johnboy stopped by to look at it and our lad asked him what he thought to it, in a dry reply he said " what a waste of a bloody nice motor" Si thi in Fortwilliam.
