  1. Have you taken your pilot jet out and held it up to the light?
  2. Marky, I have been around long enough to know, regardless of make the majority of riders are happy with their brand of bike, from time to time you get some people will make statements like the Sherco has a bad airbox design or a design flaw caused by heat making the mains go out. Most know these statements are incorrect, but some don't! like Rever, who rides a Beta posts on the Montesa forum " I see the Sherco has a bad airbox design" this doesn't help the other brands gain more sales as the similar false statements gets said about all bikes.
  3. http://www.fim.ch/TRIAL%20CD/INDEX/index_TRIAL.htm
  4. YFirst anyone could put British as a name and start pushing bull**** about another brand, so to have any credibility at all, put a real name. Design problem, one of the first Sherco's ever made 99 250 is still going strong on the original piston and bearings in this area. You say your 04 has only done three trials and the mains have gone out, so it must be a design fault, that's probably less than 100 miles, yet many do over 500 miles in the ssdt without any problem, why doesn't the same so called design fault affect them? or any of the Shercos I own or my mates. And if true, why does this always effect you more than anyone else, not saying it could be you that's doing anything wrong heaven forbid, you say you switched brands, did the one you switched too have bearing problems if not why did you switch back?. Am I biased, if it was wrong I would say, I have sold about 40 Sherco's and not one has had main bearing problems, the percentages just don't add up, in your case, when you say MRS say Sherco said they have never had problems anywhere in Europe, same applies to the USA. Will some bikes have mains fail, YES! water, mud, dust, lack of lubrication, all can cause bearings to fail, is it a design problem or a maintenance problem, I found by doing correct maintenance to all the shercos owned by me not once have I had any bearing problems. Do I know of any bikes with bearing problems? yes I do and I will try and get the pictures on here as soon as possible, no doubt why they failed. This p***ing and moaning about any brand of trials bike, bad this bad that, just goes too far, You buy a machine that get thrown at rocks, covered in mud, thrashed dropped, abused in all sorts of ways, and cry and moan if it isn't perfect every time you go to get it out of the shed if you cleaned and lubed it after your last ride or not. GET REAL
  5. Mmmm, 04 US national entry forms are out, high school class ages 10-17 can ride any size of machine they wish! providing they have a long sleeve shirt on Europe are proposeing restricting the junior world round riders to 125, seems a little backward to me. I have seen the little 100lb kid on the 250 + machines and dad saying he can get up owt on it, I notice the kid on the bike the right size, or even a little too small rides a lot more confident than the Kid blowing in the wind as the try to hang on to a full size machine.
  6. The 360 was unobtainium for the mere mortal, but the little Seeley, was a nice replica.
  7. I agree with Wayne, water in the airbox has never been an issue, in fact compared to other makes I think the airbox is the best out there. I ride many streams, mud, clart nothing gets in. I think you need to find the reason for water getting in something sounds as if it isn't on correctly. The reason your mains are toast is all the dirt getting in them, cure the water problem and you will cure the main problem.
  8. Cheers mate, booked and sorted, the only number I could find was the toll free one.
  9. Trying to call the Alexandra Milton, on the toll free number, no joy, the number is from the 02 program, also no number listed on the ssdt site or I can't find it Where is that lass when you need her?
  10. I would not be against drilling my front engine mount bolt at the nut end and also the head steady bolt nearest the cylinder, then a wire with lead seal could be past thru the hole and seal, the only way to take the nut off would be to brake the seal, so the head and or motor could not be removed, getting washed off in the power wash would no longer be an excuse, and the only thing drilled is two cheap bolts. On the other hand how the top riders dodge has no bearing on how I will do in the event, I'm there for fun they are there for a win, will it scare them off and affect Factory teams and spector turnout if the bikes are sealed and once that seal is broke your out? the top few know the score and are all aware of what goes on between them.
  11. I think there will be plenty or requirements for press, but in today's age of communication and the following of this site, it shouldn't be hard to find someone to email you event results, I see on the RYP site they state they will be posting all their team news from the nationals to TC. From what I was seeing, it looked like less and less clubs could meet the requirements to host a worldround, yes the show looked more professional but I didn't see any increase in spectator or competitor numbers, and the increased cost and workload to the hosts was starting to shut many out of the game. I do think there should be sensible requirements at worldrounds but within the reach of more clubs than at this present time, too much world class trials terrain seems to have been lost in favor of facilities, what does the TC reader think? would you rather see a better verity of terrain and chances of getting an event in your area, or less events in more spectator friendly conditions? of course places like Duluth, Donner, Twin ring, should use those locations, but are they premier locations or should they be the norm?
  12. Octagon Esedos pulling out of the outdoor championship and just running the indoor. I wondered how long it would take to see it isn't going to fly, but what would I know, will this mean regular clubs with good trials terrain like Hawkstone, will be hosting WR again, and we will see the trial being the most important factor and not the powder room. To tell the truth I'm not sorry to see em go.
  13. We won't know nowt until we see the riders report, but the thing is they still had to ride the sections and Doug, wasn't just beat he was a mile off in the last two rounds. Maybe injury, bike problem, or off form!! who knows, but when he is on form he would be in the running no matter what country he's in. I think it's big question time for Doug, does he go all out and risk injury, or play safe and concentrate on the outdoors. Baring a catastrophe I think Raga, has got the indoor championship in the bag. Indoor and outdoor are two different games, results of the last two years have shown us that, riding safely for the remainder of the indoor series has to be on Dougs mind.
  14. It was Guy, Andy, If I one of the BC lads could get word to him or try the CPTA site it may be on there.
  15. I don't think you will get a bike on as luggage like you used to, fork legs frame engine, probably watch your flight take off as your trying to explain why all the whistles are going off. Talk to your dealer or importer, the bikes get shipped from spain new anyway, only change after the event is now they have a bit of mud on em when they ship, but the box they ship in still looks the same. Renting from the UK importers is good! ride em and forget em, Mmmmmmm ....... but a bit spendy at todays exchange rates.
  16. Come on Nigel, get em out on the table, take a pic, and send it to him. He won't give up untill he sees them
  17. July 17th and 18 are also down as the PNTA points rounds at IOCO, some other good dates for the northwest check out the link, and clicky on the calender, shame everything seems to be in the same three months , http://www.pugetsoundtrialers.com/
  18. They get better every year, the sum of all tweaks!! well looked after they will last you a few years and be very competitive, but the market for used modern bikes keeps in step with new prices. If you are procrastinating about buying a new bike, the EURO is doing a real number on the US dollar and seems to be getting stronger, what might be expensive today could be a lot more expensive in a few weeks. Those that can afford a new bike every year will get one, and that puts some nice used bikes on the market for those that are a bit more thrifty with the coin. I think the major change from the end of a model line to a new model are the most noticeable.
  19. Was the chain good and tight to get on, I put one on my bike and the part number was right but it was too sloppy, put a DID one on it was a little harder to get on but once on worked much better. If the noise wasn't there before chances are what you have changed is the problem, I'm thinking timing may be a bit off, or oil passage blocked.
  20. I have ridden thru the woods of Leanachen as a late number, some pretty deep holes, but I hear our lad talk about the mile or two of slop they rode near the woods in 2000, was it three foot deep probably not! but I don't think many had the will or desire to measure it. As you say the whole section being 3 ft deep, think you have to consider the source of the 90cm claim
  21. Overthehill has no problem finding the od mile or two of 90cm mud, tends to suck the last breath of life out of man and machine, tha nos that brown peat stuff that turns thi undies into the color of beef curry and Guinness diarrhea. Why the forces don't use this stuff for carrier landing jets I don't know, all they would need is a big tub of the stuff on the deck of the carrier, speed and weight are of no concern it stops you dead! and also tests the ejection system as you disembark thru the front exit.
  22. Still won't make you ride any better
  23. Here one or two of the Spanish riders are baulking already, this pay before you get your riding number will give plenty of time for the reserve list riders to prep for the event, good move by the ssdt committee none of this no show no pay crapp.
