  1. That sounds like sensible advice to me. I also have a C15 rotting away in the yard and too far gone even when I acquired it to restore as a road bike. I'm still debating whether to do something a little crazy. that is grafting the Engine into a Bultaco M80 frame I have which is registered BUT I bought it (M80) as a few boxes of bits and the last owner had cut out all the engine mounts and bottom frame tubes with the intent of putting something else in himself. I think it's just our nature to want to build specials often, even if we are really 30-40 years too late. I find the term fiddle parts very amusing and of course with some smart thinking and application of good engineering any thing is possible, almost. I do recall may years ago Jeff B when he still worked at SM's asking me to guess what the Roadholders really were in SM's HT5 parked up in the shop just by loading up the front end. It was obvious being a bultaco kind of guy that the action was all Betor. I couldn't of given a damn really that there "might" be an attempt to deceive, I was more annoyed that good betors were being turned to oblivion to fit them in the roadholders! I'd have machined all new internals to try get the same action. I've been out of the loop too long now and I guess I've missed all the tricks going on, but I can understand it, especially being an engineer myself and naturally wanting to improve stuff. Wayne.....
  2. Well done on the Ossa Page. A friend of mine for years had one of those Cantilever frames hanging in his workshop. He rode outfits so maybe thats why he didnt use it, or maybe another reason. Can't remember which type it was, but possibly came straight out of Holdens. We both worked less than 200 yds from Ossa UK at Ferndown. Roger Holden (Cliff's son?) also lived around the corner from me at the time. I'll have to find out what happened to the frame or it's background. Wayne...
  3. Just don't do it with an Ally silencer! Caustic likes Ally
  4. I had seen it! Did you start to panic when the attempted wheelies started? Vid ended quite promptly at that point All those obstacles and non attempted hehe. Spent some time looking for the new spares that came with my 330 yesterday. Damn even the naff chain tubes are there! What was all that about!! They won't be going back on.... I remember when I bough the machine I ordered mudguards from Sandifords just for when I found a round tuit. I remember one of them took an absolute age to come, and even then I'm not sure it was totally correct. I'll have to check them out later. Wayne...
  5. Haha Cheeky! Well I as eager as you to try the Grippers out. As a 16 year old or thereabouts when they came out they seemed so radical, but way beyond my means at the time. The funny thing is that I have been more often asked to part with the Cota 330. Mainly by the original rider, who's name I Forget. (Charlie something or other) If what I was told at purchase (During my honeymoon week off) he was a supported rider. Fork legs have Robinsons of Rochdale stickers on them, so thats maybe where it came from. Wayne.....
  6. Well I think you just confirmed my own feelings on priority, it helps I have enough Bult spares to last a lifetime possibly. The others although not in such good shape owe me little, I think the 330 cost me 150 13 years ago basically complete with quite a few new parts, the Yellow Gripper cost the same in boxes. The orange one was a gift from Jeff Bungay. My 325 199A was fully restored by me some 16 years ago, but I was never totally happy with it although it looked great, and will probably do it all over and replace all the Miller Tat with my own parts. Wayne.....
  7. Nah! You not seen the state of em! Besides I'd bet there are a few here with more bikes. But I did tend to chose the stuff I lusted after way back rightly or wrongly. Wayne....
  8. Thats another to add to the list. Is the Wilts and Dorset club still running. Jeff Bungay used to sponsor the twinshock series I think. I seem to remember the name of Roger Painter or similar as running it. I think it was an invite only club. Wayne......
  9. OK thanks again, I had a good look around there yesterday, and saw some more pictures of the Puma Prepared bikes. Very very pretty. Are these bike also tuned? I must say he does have an eye for what looks good, and the attention to detail. Personally I do like my bikes to look as original as possible, but I can certainly appreciate his efforts. Wayne....
  10. No Problem, I'll be glad to be of assistance, that fixture needs to be used rather than sat in the stores. Perhaps I ought to modify it to allow it to do Ossa Cylinders too. Wayne...
  11. Yes Cota 25 Tyres are a concern, I guess oneday we'll have to try find something, re-rim perhaps. Our 25A is not too bad actually. The mudguards need a bit of beating straight again, some chrome could do with being stripped and replated. Fork Gaters and handlebar grips really do need replacing though. I actually bought the bike for my own amusement before my daughter was even born, but she is 5 next April, so maybe it's a good time to get her started. Wayne....
  12. I sent an email enquiry to Rock shocks, and the owner was good enough to call me and discuss requirements. Makes a change this day and age for companies to follow up so well. They certainly look pretty well put together, and if owner rebuildable then thats a bonus. Might give them a go myself. Wayne....
  13. My dilemma is which to prepare and ride first. I have at least one example of each of the above and dont ask why! I think it must just be a mental illness? I once thought I was a Bultaco man through and through, but I must of been wrong. Probably my 6sp Sherpa would take the least amount of work to get ready to ride again, I would appreciate opinions on shock choice though as I dumped the original Betors years ago. The 330 Cota I did once have running, but I need to make a new output shaft as the last owner attacked it or rather the sprocket with an angle grinder and got carried away! Why did Montesa chose a taper mount!! I also have an example of both 250 and 350 Grippers, but they may be a way off. Any past restorers here? Also anyone know of spares sources for the Cota 25A ? If I get one of mine going, then sure enough my daughter will demand her bike is equally as pretty. Wayne....
  14. Thanks. I'll take a look. The todotrial site seemed to be down over the weekend. Wayne.....
  15. The Ossa one is a LOT shorter than the Bultaco flange nut, but you are right they are both M56x1.50 thread. I have both types. Edit: I'll try to insert a picture to show the differences. MAR is the rusty one just removed from a bike in my unit. The other two are Std and Oversize Bultaco Flange Nuts. Wayne...
  16. I'm really glad I've found this site, these are probably the most beautiful Bultaco's I have ever seen. Does this "El Puma" guy have a website? I'd love to see more.. Wayne.....
  17. Sorry Shameless plug I know! I used to do this for Jeff at Mainly Spanish when he was in business, as well as Brake Relining and also manufactured and supplied all the 2mm oversize flanges to Hughs Bultaco. It's Hughs asking me for more that has rekindled my interest, made me get off my a*** and thinking about riding again instead of just admiring my bikes. I probably could be presuaded! Wayne.....
  18. Thanks. I've spoken with the membership sec of the Waltham Chase club and they seem ideal. I'll try Ringwood too, and also see if Waterside JMCC is still running. Shame about Vikings though that was a great club. Now to get preparing a mount or two. Wayne.....
  19. Hi all Seriously thinking of getting into actually riding my twinshocks again instead of just collecting. In in the Poole area, and just wondered which clubs are still offering something suitable for my old mounts and older bones! I spoke to Annie Chandler last night as I was a good pal of Geoff's and Sotton Vikings no longer run any events. I've obviously been out of this far too long and have no idea where all these years have gone. Next dilemma will be which bike to ride, but I'm sure I'll find a favourate. Wayne....
