  1. After almost 2 years I've finnished my latest project of bringing a sorry 200 Fantic back to life.

Its had a complete rebuild of engine, wheels and suspension. I ran the bike a few months ago before having it powder coated so no nasty gremlins popped up to spoil it.

Can't wait to get it dirty now.

Got a few ideas of mods I would like to carry on with but some time is needed on the bike now.

Thanks for sharing , that is a real beauty

  2. Actually the trial on Sunday is at Hut Hill which is Chandlers Ford, bit easier to get to than Southampton from Salisbury, worth going to have a look even if you are unable to take part, directions on the website Matt had in his post, venue is called Hut Hill

By the way where are you in relation to Salisbury , I'm 15 miles North

  3. Hi Nadder

I'm assuming with a name like that , that you are somewhere near the Nadder, I'm north of Salisbury, near Middle Wallop, just started Trials again after 35 years. I joined Waltham Chase club, very nice people. if you want to check them out, there is a trail this Sunday at Hut Hill near Winchester, the map to the venue is on the Waltham Chase website

good luck and all the best

  4. Hi all been watching the site for a while now but just got back into trialling (if that's a word?!) and absolutely loving it!

Just thought i'd introduce myself and get reading the 'Tips and Techniques' section!

    Regards, Pete

    Hi Pete

I'm not so far from You, I'm about 16 miles west of Newbury.

    Have you joined a club.

    Will send you a PM

    cheers

    Dave

  5. The PM310 tows really well; you should have no problem there. I have to wangle mine through the the garage with very little room to spare, so I made a 12" x 12" square "dolly" out of thick plywood, fitted with four heavy duty castors from Screwfix. With the trailer stood vertically, one wheel rests flat on the dolly and with a bit of help it can be steered easily through the garage.

Thanks very much for the info. Do you think i would be able to store it on the wall of my Garage?

    cheers

    Dave

  6. I can only speak as one coming back to trial after a 35 year lay off, and one of the most encouraging thing I have found is the choice of routes. I remember those " one route section trials and also remember the huge numbers of entries at every trial, even closed to club. I remember well that us young ones then had a massive steep learning curve which caused endless machine damage and was quite demoralising, we would just ask the observer to give us a five in some sections where we had no chance at all.. I very much like the idea of riding Sunday and going to work on Monday with a machine in one piece and being able to compete at a level which suits my ability and move up when ready.

I have a lot to learn with the new bikes and I would really like to do that gently, competing with myself to be honest, building up confidence along the way and above all having a bit of fun, without the stress I can get between Monday and Friday.

each to their own but I welcome the choice of routes.

  7. Hi Kluson

Thanks for your help. I live in n/w London and I'm searching the net for some clubs to go along to. I did speak to one guy who suggested maybe a 125 to start with. I guess it makes sense to shell out enough cash to buy something reliable and not have to worry about. On the other hand i'm thinking about buying a cheap bike to learn on and then upgrade later?

Its funny how this came about. I'm 42 now and as a young lad always wanted to do trials but never did. Now I have the bug again all because I went to a trial to watch..nice one.

Good luck with your trials comeback

Thanks mate, let's keep in touch, let me know how you get on and I'll do the same. I just joined Waltham Chase , nice Club not so far from me. They have Saturday afternoon " Youth and Wobbler Trials" - Just what I need to get the confidence back -

    good luck

    Cheers

    Dave ;)

  8. Hi Dave

I'm in a similar position to you . I'm coming back to trials after 35 years so like starting all over again. I Think the best advice is to try some bikes and see what you like. Stay away from the 270's 280's 290's etc , they will be too much bike for you. Where are you in the country? keep going along to a few club trials and there will be guys who will let you have a little go , it really is the best way

  9. Thanks

I think I'm set on Beta, a 200 if I can find one or a 250. I like the turning circle seems a bit closer to the old bikes I was used to before all the hopping came in. I just want to have a bit of fun on a Sunday , take it easy and have a great day out, without any stress, enough of that during the week.

    cheers for the advice

  10. Thanks guys

Getting into this now, and to be honest I've found the Beta closer to the way I would like to ride. It seems to have a decent lock on it. I'm planning to ride the easy route to start and so don't have a wish to start hopping etc , p[probably a bit too old for all that so it would appear that a lot of the older folk seem to favour the Beta, maybe it is closer to what we were used to. Had a go on a Beta rev3 250 , nice quite a lot more power than the old days!! That would probably suit me. I'll need a field to get used to it , haven't been on a bike of any kind for 35years + so bound to be wobbly.

    Oh well here goes.

thanks for all the advice.
