  17. I can only speak as one coming back to trial after a 35 year lay off, and one of the most encouraging thing I have found is the choice of routes. I remember those " one route section trials and also remember the huge numbers of entries at every trial, even closed to club. I remember well that us young ones then had a massive steep learning curve which caused endless machine damage and was quite demoralising, we would just ask the observer to give us a five in some sections where we had no chance at all.. I very much like the idea of riding Sunday and going to work on Monday with a machine in one piece and being able to compete at a level which suits my ability and move up when ready. I have a lot to learn with the new bikes and I would really like to do that gently, competing with myself to be honest, building up confidence along the way and above all having a bit of fun, without the stress I can get between Monday and Friday. each to their own but I welcome the choice of routes.
  18. there's another forum????
  19. Thanks mate, let's keep in touch, let me know how you get on and I'll do the same. I just joined Waltham Chase , nice Club not so far from me. They have Saturday afternoon " Youth and Wobbler Trials" - Just what I need to get the confidence back - good luck Cheers Dave
  20. nice. I am still bike less but hoping to find a nice rev 3 from 2006 either 200 or 250, thanks for sharing
  21. Hi Dave I'm in a similar position to you . I'm coming back to trials after 35 years so like starting all over again. I Think the best advice is to try some bikes and see what you like. Stay away from the 270's 280's 290's etc , they will be too much bike for you. Where are you in the country? keep going along to a few club trials and there will be guys who will let you have a little go , it really is the best way

  23. Hello everyone. Is here anyone else here in Hampshire. I live near Andover North East Hampshire on the border of |Hampshire Wiltshire and Berkshire. anyone near?? cheers Dave
  24. Thanks I think I'm set on Beta, a 200 if I can find one or a 250. I like the turning circle seems a bit closer to the old bikes I was used to before all the hopping came in. I just want to have a bit of fun on a Sunday , take it easy and have a great day out, without any stress, enough of that during the week. cheers for the advice
  25. Thanks guys Getting into this now, and to be honest I've found the Beta closer to the way I would like to ride. It seems to have a decent lock on it. I'm planning to ride the easy route to start and so don't have a wish to start hopping etc , p[probably a bit too old for all that so it would appear that a lot of the older folk seem to favour the Beta, maybe it is closer to what we were used to. Had a go on a Beta rev3 250 , nice quite a lot more power than the old days!! That would probably suit me. I'll need a field to get used to it , haven't been on a bike of any kind for 35years + so bound to be wobbly. Oh well here goes. thanks for all the advice.
