Hi guys. Rolling two questions into one here.

We have a 2010 evo 125. We had it cheap but with lots of issues. The motor is currently out to be rebuilt, we will be keeping this bike for a long time so don't mind spending the money on it, as there's 3 of us in the house who can use it. One issue how loud it is. The last owner said he removed the exhaust and poured petrol into the pipes and set fire to it, to burn the oil off, and then repacked the silencer but it was still loud. We have coped with it for a while but it needs sorting now. On removing I realised (new to evos) there is more packing within the silencer that you need to cut the pipe open to get to. Im guessing he's burnt all this off, hence the noise.

Now we also have a 2021 evo 125, this is my 12 year old daughters. She's a good rider but she finds the bike heavy. I have a couple of options here, I was wondering if you experienced guys could offer your opinion?

    1. get someone to cut open and repack the silencer on the 2010 bike

    2. Buy a new oem silencer for the 2010 (best part of £400!)

    3. Buy a full arrow exhaust for the 2021 bike, fit that stock exhaust to the 2010.

With the 2021, I would love to save weight. I'm letting her struggle on a bit now but come summer I had planned to put the bike on a diet by changing the wheels tyres and forks. Changing the pipe will be good to save some weight, but I cant find anyone who has any experience of an arrow pipe on a 125. I don't want to ruin the power for her, as it rides lovely for her at the moment (the bike stalls very easy, Im unsure if that's her clutch control or an issue with the bike but save that for another post)

We have a 21 evo 250 in the household too. But im pretty sure nothing is interchangeable on that one with the 125's.

Also, my God aren't gen Beta parts expensive! I've been looking at OEM pistons rods and bearings. Im from an enduro background and always ran KTM's and people used to moan parts were expensive with them. £250 for an evo 125 rod! £170 for a piston and £35 for a small end.

For the 2021 125 cc  bike by the time youve replaced the wheels    .exhaust system , etc   the cost would possibly be more than trading it for a factory model 125cc 2021,which has mag cranckases   and titanium exhaust as standard,, also michelin x lite tyres i think, Maybe worth getting the specs of each bike before you spend any money. The upside of replacing wheels and exhaust is you then have two of each  ,, good luck  ,

    Hi folks,

I've just bought a Beta Evo 2020 250 and want to upgrade the rear shock.

I've been searching high and low for a Showa but have no idea where to buy one

However, I've come across a 'Tech' rear shock on the Bosi team page.

So, what do you think, how do these compare to a Showa?

    https://www.bosioffroad.it/en/products/tech-rear-shock-for-beta-standard-model-2-ways-regulation

    All suggestions/advice welcome.

    Kind Regards

    Ha ha,

    Possibly different terrain...:)

I ride mostly in the Yorkshire Dales, up fells. The sections my brother-in-law sets out for me I can't do on my TRS, but on his Beta 250 2019 I find it a breeze.

He's a 50/50 (sometimes expert rider) and he doesn't like the TRS either, but did say they are a bit like Marmite, some people (as per this thread) absolutely love them.

I had heard it's the carb that makes it so fierce, I've heard it's the same on most 'factory' bikes so maybe it's just standard bikes for my riding style (complete lack of ability....)

One thing that I would say is categorically rubbish on the TRS is the turning circle, I've never known a trials bike to lock out when turning, not sure why they haven't sorted that tbh. I assume the better riders don't care because they can flick the back end around but for me it's a crippler in some sections.

Both bikes have the same carb     keihin     .

  4. Just goes to show ,  weve had  a 2017 TRSone    no problems whatsoever, my sons had 2018 rr 250  no problems   sold to a friend of mine still going strong.,currrently have a 2019 trs rr250 and a2020trs 1r    that's four bikes  ridden more than average  ,and the only thing we have replaced is one  thermostat  ,a twenty minute job, A local guy we know has had two trs raga replicas 2018    ,and just replaced with 2 new 2020  models  ,   unlike youre experience  we have  found  the TRS to be   extremely   reliable   ,smooth to ride   and easy to work on.

Just had a quick search for 2017 master cylinders, couldn't find the bore, still the same make but the outer casting is different. It's still 40mm between hole centers and I haven't seen different brake pedals listed so it should be interchangeable.

There isn't much room for brake pedal travel before it hits the frame so I doubt they could reduce the bore by much.

If anyone with a 2017 bike could confirm that it makes much difference I might upgrade.

Miles better on the 2017 , more braking power ,but still has feel ..

  7. i agree with nigel much nicer inital feel compared to my alpinestars

    comfortable from the getgo

    boa system just works well

ditto  comfortable first time out , rode for 3 hours from new, after 20 minutes I forgot all about them being new ,   pleased so far .

  8. The fuel tap on my 2015 Evo became so stiff it wouldn't turn. Having removed the carb, I removed the fuel tap, stripped it, greased sparingly the rubber washer, reassembled the tap (now turns smoothly) and refitted the tap to the bike.

However, there is now a leak of fuel which appears to be coming via the male boss on the frame and the tap nut which tightens on to it.

I removed it again, put some PTFE tape round the boss and reattached the tap, but there is still a leak.

The nut on the tap is a double thread, right hand onto the frame with the tap itself featuring a left hand thread.

Suggestions please as to how I can get it to seal. There seems to be a point where the nut has to be at a certain position on the tap to allow it to tighten fully.

I've spent all afternoon on it and am no further forward.

    Thanks

Just checked mine on 2016 300 evo was getting  stiffer to turn off,5 minutes with oil can , turning has freed it up  nicely.,will get a regular lubrication now ,Hope you get it fettled mike,,

  9. Hi

I have a stiffer one on mine and it works a treat,

A standard one is set up for an 80 kg rider,

I got mine from Splat-shop as he seemed to be the cheapest - http://www.splatshop.co.uk/montesa-stiffer-spring.html

They say if you are over 80 kg put the stiffer spring on,

Also you are meant to have your shocked serviced regally and re gassed

I would have it serviced and the new spring put on

Im from up North so i cant say where to have it done im sorry.

Thanks HOW much is a shocked service, and why you thanking him, ,just because youre from up north ,doesn't mean you cant talk correctly , ps good luck in the Scottish,on that old thing,
