January 27, 200719 yr I know manuals give info on how often to change gear oil but wondered what the general opinion was on how often it should be changed for those who have or have had these bikes.
January 27, 200719 yr Oil is cheap, rebuilds are expensive I change mine every 4-6 outings, so anything between 20 and 30 hours of riding time...
January 27, 200719 yr Author I was thinking of every 6 so am in the right ballpark. 6 outings takes me to the lower end of the hours category so should be fine if I stick with that rule.
January 29, 200719 yr Here's a little hour meter if you really want to know how many hours are on the oil. Enduro friends of mine use them. http://www.magicracing.com/DRD-Hour-Meter_p_72-1886.html
February 4, 200719 yr about 3 times a year is plenty after the first change which would be after about 3 times out.
February 4, 200719 yr 3 times a year Eddie? you cant ride much then. Dump the oil after the first ride out from new and I usually change mine every 25 hours at least, oil is cheap but clutches and gears arnt
February 4, 200719 yr A friend has commented on the possibility of using a very lightweight oil in the gearbox to aid shifting. Has anyone any experience with this and how does it effect oil changing frequency? Cheers Mil
February 5, 200719 yr this might sound stupid what oli does every one use (whats the best) ? thank you
February 5, 200719 yr PJ1 clutch tuner is nice for me. But Silkolene and Motul has been fine in the past aswell. Bob
