funtrials
How much more on average, on say a 2005 bike or later, do 4-strokes weigh than their 2-stroke version? Edited October 6, 2009 by Funtrials
copemech
How much more on average, on say a 2005 bike or later, do 4-strokes weigh than their 2-stroke version? About 1/2 to 1 of your stone things!
feetupfun
or 3 to 7 of our kg things
nzralphy
My Beta 08 Rev4 is 3kg heavier than the 2t of the same year. It took me.... oh .... about 30minutes to stop worrying about it and enjoy the bike more than the 2t
beatabeta
Dont think there is anything you can compare from 2005 Mont only had 4 stroke Beta only had 2 stroke Sherco did both (I think but that may be 2006) but no one bought the 4 stroke cos they wouldn't start. Think Sherco 4 stroke is / was about 3-4kg heavier but could be wrong
jimmyl
If comparing to a GasGas then it depends how much weld repair, silicone and gaffer tape have been added to get it as reliable as a 4RT.
for artie
Lightest to heaviest: Gas Gas, Sherco, Beta, Montesa... Reverse the list for Quality and reliability. The lightest bike becomes the heaviest when pushing it home.

jimmyl
Simple formula -more metal = more strength = more reliability (unless the designer is a wally) Suggest we have a minimum weight for trials bikes set at 85KG. This would make bikes more reliable for Joe public and maybe make the sections less exrteme for the top boys as an extra 20kg is harder to throw around

jimmyl
"He he - not a bad idea, make it 120Kg and I'll be right back up there" Gaz - maybe we could do like F1 -combined minimum weight of bike and rider. You could stick with the Sherco but Bou would have to ride a road bike with full panniers. Sounds fair to me
