OK the Monts have DID (?) rims right?

the ones that have no rim tape is a solid rim with the turnbuckle type spokes.

Why don't all the manufacturers use this type of rim?????? seems to me that would solve all leak problems except for leaking at the bead itself.

Just to add i change a tyre yesterday and nipped the rim tape with tyre lever, tyre went flat over night.

Took tyre off, cleaned rim tape,DID NOT TAKE IT OUT,found the offending hole/cut,put a puncture repair patch over it,left it for a couple of hours, put tyre back on,CAREFULLY,and bobs your uncle,no more leaking thru spokes!!

How long it will last???

But this is now my spare wheel as i have a did set up to!

If it were the perfect solution then they would all have this rim.

Not necessarily, If the cost for the DID is substantially higher then the spoke through design. Those budget minded manufacturers would go with the spoke through design. All boils down to $$$$$$$ seen the price on a mont?

The cheapest is best for the manufacturers. The Mont Rim style was done in the 80`s on the Beta`s. I dont think manufacturers look beyond 1 years service life on a bike to much, as it becomes your problem not theirs. Nature of the sport, thats why it failed is the text book quote.

New is not always better but cheaper.
