Hi all i keep perusing the classifieds.

It seems some of the early Gg bike were inferior in the reliability stakes. What ywar did they start to get better. By what i can make out its around 99 - 2000. I now all these bike will have seen better days BUT every little helps

Oh and what year did the red painted engine models end? Thanks

The models around 1999 & 2000 were pretty good, the old TXT range. It was the first water cooled model that was probably not so good ( Delta?) and the 02 Pro had a few issues for some, fine again from 03 onwards. However thats my expierence only!

I have a JTR250 - 1996 - lovely bike - and has been reliable - needing only the clutch sorting..

93-2001 same basic motor. 1997 last red engine. 1999-2001 most desirable. 2002-2004 crap better with each year. 2005 - present still crap better each year. 2002- present pro models all ride well when running. Current issues are still kickstart, shift shaft assembly, and transmission realiability.

There were still a few TXT's around in 2003, after the Pro's were launched in 2002.

I had a 98 TX 270 for 8 years and it never let me down.

I had a jtx 200 97 model, the best bike I ever had bar my 4rt. Never missed a beat, great quality too. On that note, I must say, what you get out of a bike is only as good as what you put into it!
