not tooo high after a trial a bike gets alot heavier

for the sake of £30 its not worth the effort.

i work with a welder daily and i thought i would try and incorporate a magnetic tray in to it for any repairs i'm doing

if you want a custom jobbie then go for it i say. but i was thinking along the lines you are before i bought my stand.

for magnetic trays i use a selection of these :

small and large. you can use them for bolts/clips/washers/pins etc and keep it all seperate (handy when re-assembleing)

or even parts like calipers, bearings etc. brake fluid proof. petrol proof.

thats what i got the idea from neil. ive had a look about and most stands are 430mm high. i'll fling one together soon on my lunch break

higher the better id say.

they are easy to lift on if you pick it up by the back wheel.

i was going to use the base of an old office chair for mine so its on castors to move it around on the floor and also able to rotate it 360* when working on it.

they are also go up and down hydraulically so you can alter height.

I made a stand ages ago for my last bike and took no more than 5mins and some scrap from work.Think i made it 500mm high and put some alloy check-a-plate on top for some grip.

I made one for my GCSE technology, it's 500mm high, which to be honest to too high, although is good when doing big jobs.. Made it out of mild steel box section.

Paint bucket works a treat!
