Ty80 Help Needed

Featured Replies

hi my daughter was out on her little 80 today and it died it sounded like fuel starvation after about 30 mins we gave up

when home i have checked everything carb is clean air filter new and genuine new plug reeds close flat against the block a very good spark compression but no running

any ideas

Is it running with the choke on ?

Guy

Have you pulled the fuel line off the carb to make sure gas is flowing. Is the plug wet or dry? If it is dry it is not getting fuel.

plug is wet and no not checked the flywheel

So good spark, you got fuel and you put a brand new plug in since you have been home? Have you had the bike long and did it always run well before. Besides plugs ty`s are dead reliable.

not had the bike long it had been standing for about 2 years ive been running it 50;1 with castrol a747 prior to it dying it was running very nicely

you can have spark when testing it but the compression can '' blow '' the spark, So flywheel off ( check the key ) and check point condenser.

right gents read everything and ive got a lot to go on ive ordered points and condensor woodruff key will get the exhaust off and clean it up tank breather ok where does the breather pipe coming out of the reed block go to currently got a screw in it can you tell me the points gap please and would you recomend an iridium plug or isnt it suitable with points thanks

That is not a breather, it is the original oil feed from the oil pump, before it was disconnected and set up as a premix engine. Hope that makes sense!

thanks for all of your help gents all ive managed to rule out so far is woodruff key fine not enough time is there a way of checking the timing

Have you tried a brand new, never been used straight out of the box spark plug, as has been said before the TY 80 can kill a plug very quickly.
