October 20, 201411 yr Could do with more photos. Does the vertical link connect to the top of the shock via rocker arm? If so it looks very much like the full floater system Suzuki used to use on their MX bikes (until thy got sued for patent breaches) Kawasaki MX bikes also had mono shock systems with links to upper rockers. October 20, 201411 yr Author yes, it used a rocker arm of the vertical link to top of shock. i think it might have been a weekend project when they were learning to weld!
October 25, 201411 yr My grandad converted this into a monoshock in 1985 in his garden shed. It was originally a standard ty250 twinshock before my dad got the swinging arm pressed out of tube and chromed at British Rail. Also, the rear shocker was off a Kawasaki AR 50 moped. He also put a majesty tank on it. Please post more pictures as its great to see that this bike is still in existence.

Please post more pictures as its great to see that this bike is still in existence. it seems your dad got yamaha to press a new swing arm out as its the same as the other standard yam ones i have, your grandad did a good job of cutting of the rear shock mounts that had been moved ect ,come back to me on the rest of the mods he did to a standard ty frame please just so i can see if its the same bike
November 3, 201411 yr The other mods he carried out were lifting the engine, similar to the old majesty dimensions and he also made a aluminium air box which sat on the opposite side of the frame from the exhaust to create room for the shocker but also to use the same air filter. We also believe that the front sprocket guard was made in the shape of a horse shoe out of aluminium and that it had a flat bash plate. Recently, he began twinshock trialling again and has once again been chopping the frames about and created two majesty style frames. My uncle, Sam Brownlee, who used to build the majesty's for John Shirt also had a lot of input into the conversion of the mono shock we believe you have.
November 3, 201411 yr Author i dont have the airbox or chaingard but yor right about frame mods. i bet you uncle had a hand in that ,seems to much like a majesty frame, but your right about the garden shed rear shock! lol. what area did they live?
November 4, 201411 yr They are from Matlock , Derbyshire, where did the bike end up? my grandad sold it through Trials and Motocross News when he'd saved up enough for a proper mono shock.
